Re-listing HAND's tracklist if it was today...
Rox_Nox2003 said on October 22, 2006 00:37:
Going through all of the 14 original tracks on this album I thought to myself what it would have been like to re-release it this time around if we were to choose a different track list set of either 14 tracks as well or 15 the maximum. Besides the 14 originals and all those revealed so far as outtakes recorded during the sessions for this album as well:
1. Making Love To You
2. It Hurts
3. Little Miss Sorrow
4. I Do Believe
5. Happy Together
Be free to express opinions on sound production as well as why that tracklis. Enjoy and have a nice day!

I WAS listening to HAND today and thinking if I could replace songs which ones? I’d replace the two weakest songs, Cooper and Pay The Price, with tow of their strongest ever, Happy Together and It Hurts, possibly with Making Love To You in there somewhere. But it’s a near perfect album anyway.
I do like I Do Believe, but as I’ve only heard the demo (it is the demo?) I’d like to hear it polished up.
And maybe they could have found a place for Crazy About You (C!B!B! outtake, I believe) too. If not, replace Crashing Guitars with it on C!B!B!.

I would leave HAND exactly as it is. I love *every* single song from the HAND session, and I think the outtakes are at least as good as those on the CD - but I think the CD works perfectly as it is, there’s not a single weak track on the album and it flows perfectly.

HAND was and is just a fantastic if not their best but most under-rated album.

I LOVE this Album, the only Roxette Album I can listen to from start to Finish without skipping a track, the next is Room Service.

01. Crush on You
02. Wish I Could Fly
03. You Can’t Put Your Arms Around What’s Already Gone
04. It Hurts
05. Anyone
06. It Will Take a Long Long Time
07. 7Twenty7
08. I Was So Lucky
09. Little Miss Sorrow
10. Stars
11. Salvation
12. Happy Together
13. Making Love To You
14. Beautiful Things
Maybe something like that?
PS! The most under rated album according to me is PoP
rox-kuryliw said on October 22, 2006 15:26:
I would only take
3. You Can’t Put Your Arms Around What’s Already Gone
off and replace with ’happy togeather’
YCOYA .. bla bla is the worst roxette song in my view , the rest if perfect.
Although i dont like the title very much ? ’Have a nice day’ never hav like the title !
I would of liked it to have been called ’Flowers on the moon’ after some lyrics in beautiful things’ rather abstract as with the whole design for the album aswell.

Happy Together? Are people insane? What a dull and weak song ! !
I think the album is pretty ok as it is but ...
Crush on You off for Bla Bla ... (YBMH)
7twenty7 off for a polished demo version (with marie)
cooper off for the closer to god version
Stars off for New World
Add Little Miss Sorrow
So something like this:
1. Bla Bla ... (You Broke My Heart)
2. Wish I Could Fly
3. You Can’t Put Your Arms Around What’s Already Gone
4. Waiting For The Rain
5. Anyone
6. It Will Take A Long Long Time
7. 7Twenty7 (Polished Demo)
8. I Was So Lucky
9. New World
10. Salvation
11. Pay The Price
12. Cooper (Closer To God)
13. Staring At The Ground
14. Beautiful Things
15. Little Miss Sorrow
A fantastic Roxette album here !!!

@chrisjankunas: I couldn’t agree more with you about “Happy Together” - by far the worst Rox track ever, I can’t believe they ever let us hear it. But good that they did because at least some people seem to love it!
I would definitely want “Little Miss Sorrow” on there somewhere... maybe replace “It Will Take a Long, Long Time” with that one.
alcibiades said on October 22, 2006 17:34:
Oh - how can you people diss Happy Together? I think it’s a great little pop-rock song.
I think by far the weakest track of the bunch is You Can’t Put Your Arms etc. It does hold a nice place on the album, however, love the transition right into Waiting For The Rain (which is one of the most underrated Roxette songs).
Bla Bla Bla Bla was not from the HAND sessions, but from Room Service I think. I just looooove that song as well. Actually, I think a much more interesting topic would be: Listening to Room Service, and re-ordering the tracks, what would you have put on? I think there are a lot of tracks from the Room Service sessions (Everyday!, Bla Bla Bla Bla, Entering Your Heart) that are much better than some of the album tracks (Little Girl, Looking For Jane, Bringing Me Down To My Knees). I would go for something like:
1. Real Sugar
2. The Centre Of The Heart
3. Milk And Toast And Honey
4. Jefferson
5. Bla Bla Bla Bla (You Broke My Heart)
6. Every Day
7. Entering Your Heart
8. Stupid
9. Make My Head Go Pop
10. Try (Just A Little Bit Harder)
11. Fool
12. I Takes You No Time To Get Here
13. My World, My Love, My Life

07 I Was So Lucky
08 Makin’ Love To You
09 Pay The Price
10 Cooper
11 Salvation
12 Staring At The Ground
13 Beautiful Things
I’ve dropped the terrible TERRIBLE utter bollocks of a song...stars. YUK.
rox-kuryliw said on October 22, 2006 21:33:
strange thomasc that this so called horrid song stars charted loads better than ’anyone’ and some cases better than ’wicf’ so makes total sence to drop it as people dont like it ! ! lol not !
Rox_Nox2003 said on October 23, 2006 00:27:
Okey so my concept for the album focuses on the following ideas:
a) Keep the trademark ballads (for me 4 of them) but not let the album be so slowtempo as it ended up becoming in the original set.
b) To create a contrast, I provided some more energy among the uptempo tracks (bringin a more polished versions of the rock sounding demos of 7-20-7 and Stars). Yet COY remains as it it ... for me the essence of this song is as I met her for the first time ... totally programmed! And I love it)
c) Bringing also another midtempo song to sparkle the same vibe that It will take and staring at the ground already had... Making Love to you is my perfect choice.
So here it is:
1. Crush On You
2. Wish I Could Fly
3. Little Miss Sorrow
4. It Will Take A Long Long Time
5. Anyone
6. Pay The Price
7. Staring At The Ground (demo polished version with Marie also on vocals)
8. I was So Lucky
9. Stars
10. Salvation
11. 7twenty7
12. Making Love To You
13. You Can’t Put Your Arms Around What’s Already Gone
14. Waiting for The Rain
15. Beautiful Things (perfect ending)
As B-sides: “Happy Together” for WICF as originally was set; the same for “Cooper” I love the song but I feel that lyricallywise and musicallywise it brings elments that do not fit with the album itself and also my tracklist.
One final comment: it’s great to see that the this topic has been responded by hand and rs lovers or ate least fans that appreciate the albums without constant negative feedback. I presume joyride/cbb hardcore fans have passed this by .. or am i wrong?
bigbigbig_love said on October 23, 2006 01:51:
alcibiades how could you take Little Girl from Room Service? This is a stunning song and the way I interpret this song is that Marie is singing about herself and getting older. She was once this little girl but now she is gone and I dare say she misses those days, just a beautiful track!
Room_service said on October 23, 2006 03:46:
I’ll keep the tracklist as it was originally released, it works perfect for me. Maybe I’d replace “Staring at the Ground” (a clear filler, too short, I don’t like that track) with “Happy Together”. Maybe not their most brilliant moment, but I love the lyrics! With a better, more produced arrangement it would improve a lot.
By the way, “Makin’ Love To You” was the weakest songs among the stuff released in the bonus EP’s for TBH/TPH. I never liked it, sounds like it lacks something, too flat.

I am one of those that really like Happy together and don’t understand why was it excluded, but at least we have it on the RoxBox. Out of HAND? Waiting for the rain, Beautiful things, Salvation... In: Littlle miss sorrow, Bla bla bla bla bla, Happy together & It hurts. And of course the 727 demo insted of the album version, and Closer to God - the same!
alcibiades said on October 23, 2006 15:10:
Waiting For The Rain ... BEAUTIFUL THINGS??? That’s like the best song they ever did. Gosh, I’m shocked.
But then, apparantly we just have different taste. Little Girl really grates on my nerves, I think the lyrics are pretty bland, and the melody really annoys me. That song simply doesn’t work for me.
Rox_Nox2003 said on October 23, 2006 15:19:
Is it just me or ... when we end up talking about HAND we can’t avoid talking about RS and vice versa? Is there a somewhat unavoidable connection btw those 2 records?
Rox_Nox2003 said on October 24, 2006 02:44:
Or maybe ... the love and hate around them is so intense that made them incredibly popular as well! LOL .. and afte all as the 2 latest studio albuns it might be natural that both come together every now and then.
tq83 said on October 22, 2006 01:16:
well for me i wud of kept the album as it is.. the songs that didnt make it are not up to quality of the HAND album...
