Abit of fun, swap a hit ! !

The Big L. in place of A thing about you. It wasn’t hit at all :-) heh
thomasc said on October 20, 2006 13:17:
REMOVE = “Stars”
REASON = Worst song they’ve ever done. Very cheap sounding and euro-trash.
ADD = “Church Of Your Heart”
REASON = Great Summer pop that would have fit the album better IMO.
rox-kuryliw said on October 20, 2006 16:14:
Church Of Your Heart ! ! ! worse than stars NOW WAY lol,
ps we are in europe :-P
thomasc said on October 20, 2006 17:35:
Star is the worst song they have ever done.
It was laughed at here in the UK.
At least Church Of Your Heart is a KNOWN Roxette song and was a bigger hit than Stars.
If I could erase any Rox song it would be Stars. I mean, it’s just chav-tastic aweful and repetitive tripe.
ally77 said on October 20, 2006 17:55:
You can tell how much I pay attention, I have not played it yet and I didn’t know they missed of COYH!
Wicf said on October 20, 2006 18:14:
I don’t care what they think of Stars in a land, where Timberlake’s Sexyback has topped the single chart.
coyboyusa said on October 20, 2006 18:33:
stars was far from being a bad song they can play it in any genere...rock, dance, acoustic and it still sounds vibrant. Church of your heart was never meant to be a single, its like a little bob dylan cover song and kinda boring
rox-kuryliw said on October 20, 2006 20:56:
Wicf ,coyboyusa i find myself agreeing, I find COYH So boring and so so dull. stars ow yeeeeeeeeee lol
Wicf said on October 21, 2006 19:03:
COYH isn’t boring, it has a great guitar riff, but it’s somewhat an average song, and the fifth single of Joyride should’ve been DYGE. Stars, on the other hand, is really a special song... And I believe most people in my country know only the remixes which are sometimes airplayed, and not the album version, which is worse than Almighty remix, but not much
kielroxer said on October 21, 2006 20:31:
replace almost unreal to june afternoon. almost unreal is really boring, and june is a very good and typical roxette one!
chrisjankunas said on October 21, 2006 20:34:
Replace Almost Unreal with June Afternoon :S NO WAY ! Almost Unreal is a gem !
Hmmm. How Do You Do! for Church Of Your Heart I think.
And Take off Stars (IRRITATING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and put back Real Sugar or Queen Of Rain !!!
kielroxer said on October 21, 2006 20:38:
never change hdyd! one of their biggest hits! not one of their best ones, but one of their biggest, at least in europe! the album is called roxette HITS! church was not that big hit since it was the fith single from joyride. but a nice song, i agree. maybe church for almost unreal?
and let stars there. i don´t like it that much, too, but it has its right for its place on the gh!
chrisjankunas said on October 21, 2006 20:40:
But Almost Unreal was one of Roxette’s biggest UK hits ! and certainly one of their best ! Many UK people that casually like Roxette all praise Almost Unreal as a fantastic song ! How Do You Do! is a bit tacky as is Stars IMO. I found myself listening to it less and less !
Take off How Do You Do! for Queen Of Rain - definitely !!!!!
kielroxer said on October 21, 2006 20:44:
hm. do you remember what per and marie told in the booklet of dbugtt about almost unreal? something like “not our most inspired moment. if you want to make a parody of roxette, it will sound like almost unreal”...
something like this i remeber they told in the booklet...
whateveriam said on October 21, 2006 20:45:
Yeah, and why French and Saunders didn’t to a spoof remains a mystery...
chrisjankunas said on October 21, 2006 20:47:
Ah but then - the flumeride makers chose June Afternoon to make a parody of, not Almost Unreal. Post ’95 Roxette dropped their guitar edge sound a little and Almost Unreal wouldn’t really serve as a parody of them anymore ! Something like One Wish of Real Sugar would I think.
The not inspired moemt refers to Roxette being associated with the Mario flop - not the song.
kielroxer said on October 21, 2006 20:50:
ok, ok, ok. seems that we could not agree on this topic...
anyway, i still like june afternoon...
:-))
chrisjankunas said on October 21, 2006 20:53:
Besides Roxette seem more embarrased of HDYD ! Per says “At least I tried” in the Pop Hits booklet whilst Marie says of HDYD “hmmm” and along the lines of I don’t like it in the DBUGTTC booklet !
:D
whateveriam said on October 21, 2006 21:10:
...and give me that grin...
Yeah its cheesy, but it is darn cute!
chrisjankunas said on October 21, 2006 21:20:
Almost Unreal was the last time Roxette had a new song in the top 10 !
KEEP ALMOST UNREAL IN ALWAYS :)
tq83 said on October 22, 2006 02:24:
HDYD compared to OW is way better... im sure in 10 years time per will say i cant believe i released a song as one wish lol
MiracleMan said on October 22, 2006 04:03:
LOL! This is a hoot.
COYH, HDYD, and June Afternoon are all so-so. I suppose if I had to, I’d put in COYH over HDYD.

Much to my surprise, I actually think that the 18 songs they chose are *very* close to my personal top-18 of their greatest hits. If I had to replace one, it would be A Thing About You - I love the song, but it’s not a Roxette classic - and would probably add ... Hmmm it would probably be Queen Of Rain, because that’s a very classy track, or Anyone or Salvation (the latter is my personal favourite, but being realistic, it’s not one of their greatest hits).
So I’d say, swap ATAY with QOR. But I’m perfectly satisfied with the selection they did - I think it’s fine they took one of the new songs from Ballad/Pop Hits to represent this era. And of course, Breathe is the better of the songs from 2002/2003, but that wasn’t a single.
marcusvandeursen said on October 22, 2006 10:57:
Stars is actually one of my all-time favourites- if not the ultimate uptempo hit by roxette, so i’ll certainly keep that one...
seeing there are 4 LS! singles on the album,
i’d trash DFS or Dangerous and replace it with either the 1987 tour single I Want you (feat. Ratata and Eva Dahlgren) or a remix of Crush On You.
mareo said on October 25, 2006 12:46:
If the album should contain only hits, may be Queen of rain or You don’t understand me are missing... but I’d rather put June Afternoon, or Opportunity Nox (in stead of YDUM), in the place of Run to you or Dressed for success.
rox-kuryliw said on October 20, 2006 13:09:
I was listerning to 20 greatest songs, i was thinking (as you do) its just about a perfect album for me. (taken over from ballad hits) And would of been great if was double all singles, But it isnt so i think they did very well squeezing the hits on it.
If you had to take a song off The 20hits and replace it with a past single what would it be ( just abit of fun, nothing deep and meaningful lol )
Id take off ’Run to you’ and swap it with ’Real sugar’
what about u ? remember just 1 u greedy song swappers lol ;-)
