Wow I am so surprised.... it this like the official chart here in the UK (you know the top 40)...
Wow number, I am almost speechless!
room-service said on October 12, 2006 11:17:
That’s really great :-) didn’t expect that, at least in the official only-sales-charts
abysmo said on October 12, 2006 11:24:
No.1 was only Joyride, Sleeping... and The Centre...
No.2 was only Dressed... and How Do You Do!
So One Wish is 4.-6. most successful Rox song ever from their 39 singles.
Congratulations.
room-service said on October 12, 2006 11:46:
...and it’s the 1st Top Ten Single since TCOTH.
BTW In the billboard-like airplay+sales charts of week 40, OW only climbed from 26 to 24, but the sales probably aren’t included yet

They also entered the FINNISH SINGLES CHART at Number FIVE! Which is superb, imo!
I even wrote a news article of it yesterday but since this site is hardly a “daily” paper it isn’t published (as of yet). Wouldn’t be that surprised if it wasn’t published at all since it’s not “news” anymore...
It is the first time Roxette appear in the top-5 in Finland since 1994 and SIMC. The last time TCOTH reached #13.

Go on supporting Roxette.

This is unbelieveble! I could never imagine this.
And this weekend they’re on tv. Maybe even better next week?
Roxette-atic said on October 12, 2006 14:47:
This is a HUGE surprice. That Roxette in 2006 would score one of their biggest hits in sweden ever is almost unreal. Esp since I havent heard the song on the radio all that much. #2! Congratulations!! And yea....”Stars” wasent a #1 like someone said.
AURYTE said on October 12, 2006 15:02:
That’s a great news! Though I would have prefered #1, but well, I haven’t known that so few Roxette songs have reached #1 or 2 in Sweden.
PS And when and on which channel will Roxette be this weekend?
chrisjankunas said on October 12, 2006 16:19:
Great !
On a side note - look what I just read on Amazon.com for the dvd description in the RoxBox:
Product Description
Strictly limited edition five disc (four CDs + PAL/Region 0 DVD) long-form box set released to celebrate Swedish Pop duo Roxette’s 20th anniversary. The RoxBox is a special treat for fans who thought they had everything! The four CDs feature 76 tracks including all the hit singles, key album cuts, rare recordings, demos, unreleased tracks and two brand new songs. The DVD is a three hour RoxFest including all of their videos, the complete Roxette MTV Unplugged performance and more. This is more than a boxset...it’s a Roxetteboxset! EMI. 2006.
More in the DVD than the videos and mtv??????? Hope it isnt the documentaries lol.
Maybe One Wish could make no.1 next week???

EMI UK might notice this and release it after all. Oh, and then I woke up......

I’ve just found the information that OW entered Swedish Charts at 7.
From where do you have such information? I thought this website is official:
http://www.sr.se/p3/topplistor/topplistan/
(there are some technical difficulties on this website...)
Roxette-atic said on October 12, 2006 17:14:
Here is the correct chart:

Do you have link to Finnish chart? I would like to see it on my own :D :D :D

Fantastic!! And I’m really glad that Abysmo reminded us that Roxette do NOT in fact go straight in at the top of the charts with each new release, not even first singles... #2 is a real accomplishment for anyone in this age, Roxette included.
@LoneGunman, wherever you are: What’s that sound I hear off in the distance? Slap? Smack? Bang? No... that’s not it... oh right: HIT.
abysmo said on October 12, 2006 22:28:
@Roxtexanet:
And don´t forget, that this is not single from BRAND NEW album, but only BEST OF. If you look back to older HITS albums, you can compare One Wish No.2 with You Don´t Understand Me No.9, A Thing Abou You No.14 and Opportunity Nox No.11. So One Wish No.2 is really big surprise, we really can talk about success. Ofcourse, you can tell it´s their comeback single so everybody wants to hear it, but it´s still great. And in Finland No.5. Best result since No.3 Sleeping In My Car. It looks very promising.
Could some Germans or Austrians write about One Wish positions in G and A? I was looking at IFPI sites but I don´t understand German so it´s hard to find right link.
Room_service said on October 13, 2006 03:16:
You should also consider how many weeks it will stay in the chart. It is better a single that spends 10 weeks in the Top 20 than a single that hit the #2 and gets dropped off the chart in the next week. Wait and see. Anyway, it is good to see the cover of the single didn’t scare the customers at all!
Martin Stenmark is an awful singer. He represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 and only got a few points (finished #19 among 24 songs in total). The song was crap, but his performance was also terrible.
roxtexanet said on October 13, 2006 04:38:
It’s a single - they never stay in the charts very long, and they’re not supposed to: they should enter high, fall fast, and make way for the album. That said, it’s nice that some Rox-related singles do seem to have some staying power... Per’s “HKAK” and “Tycker Om När Du Tår På Mej”, and “M&T&H” (the longest-charting Rox single, tied with “YDUM,” since 1991).
Sascha said on October 13, 2006 07:40:
The single hasn’t been released yet in Germany – so no charts. Don’t know about austrian charts.
imazombieinthem... said on October 13, 2006 09:49:
Great stuff! Good enough news to be on the front page you would think!?
veneziano said on October 13, 2006 14:41:
OW will drop Germany on oct. 20, but don‘t expect too much. Rox singles didn‘t do well in the nearer past. ATAY hardly entered the TOP50, Nox did make it only to #86 or sthing. The albums instead allways sold well.
Anyway, here are the links to german single and album charts (though its´s a download site the charts are the official ones, not only download)

@topic: nr. 2 in sweden is great! :-)
Rox_Nox2003 said on October 13, 2006 15:25:
And imagine the wasted time we spent complaning about the song it self.... it’s only when the light shines brighter than we finally convice ourselves that we have a great track on our hands!
Viewtiful said on October 13, 2006 18:16:
More good news from Spain: One Wish enters at #3 for the week ending Oct 8th. This is even better than TCOTH which peaked at #7.
Official Spanish singles list:

roxtexanet said on October 14, 2006 04:00:
@Viewtiful: ...with a higher peak position already than the golden boy, ROBBIE WILLIAMS!! Awesome news!!!
roxtexanet said on October 14, 2006 04:26:
And the good news keeps coming! After erupting onto the Top 50 airplay chart at #17, then all but stalling a week later at #16, “One Wish” has now shot up to #5 in official airplay in Sweden. I think this should help the Tracks position a lot (#1?) and will definitely mean that it’s a contender for the top spot on the new Billboard-style Top 40 chart. Go Rox, go!
christian said on October 14, 2006 06:56:
WOOOOOH! No.3 in Spain; No.2 in Sweden; No.5 in Finnland.
I never thought that!!! Really fantastic news. Marie will become stronger and stronger...

# 2! awesome!! ;-DDDDD
In Spain there are cool news too... GO ON!
roxtexanet said on October 14, 2006 16:36:
...and coming! Now “One Wish” has jumped from #24 to #4 on the new Billboard-style official Top 40 chart (50% sales, 50% airplay) in just its third week. http://www.rixfm.com/?page=413
Unfortunately, it dropped 11 to 14 on Tracks, but maybe it will rebound next week??
crashroxer said on October 14, 2006 17:02:
Spain #3??
How could that be without any promotion ?? I mean, I except a good entry for Rox in scandinavia, but Spain??
Wow!!!!
roxtexanet said on October 14, 2006 18:12:
@crashroxer: There was one REALLY good piece of promo in Spain actually - they were on the cover of Metro, a freebie paper distributed in (I think) Barcelona. Inside, readers were directed to a link where they could see the video... fantastic promo, and I wouldn’t think Rox would get anything like that outside of Sweden.
Still, I agree that it’s really quite amazing...
Ingo said on October 15, 2006 10:49:
Anybody kows Roxette past charts places in Spain (all singles) ?
bevi said on October 16, 2006 12:50:
@roxtexanet: “20 minutos” is distributed in other places as Madrid or Bilbao. No doubt it was a great promotion!
him1980 said on October 16, 2006 14:20:
It’s so cool that they are doing so well in Sweden.
I hope that the media in Holland will play “one wish “more on the dutch radio. Like to see Roxette in #1 in our charts.
room-service said on October 19, 2006 11:20:
The 2nd week OW dropped to #4 at the official swedish sales charts.
Rox_Nox2003 said on October 19, 2006 12:16:
I don’t get it!
Wasn’t in the front page mentioned that “roxette entered at #26 and jumped afterwards to #4”???
Where the hell was #2?
room-service said on October 19, 2006 12:20:
@Rox_Nox2003 : On the frontpage they mentioned the fucking ’new’ billboard-like charts, which include airplay and sales.
OW was on #2 of the well known official just-sales toplist.
Rox_Nox2003 said on October 21, 2006 20:20:
This is why I hate charts...
Needing to see a song succeed is something in pop culture I’ll never understand. What is wrong is just going home and listening and enjoying the music oneself? Why should I be bothered with the importance or lack of it the music has on other people?
Kiwein1 said on October 12, 2006 11:02:
Haha, that’s nearly unbelievable. What a surprise..
