Code Adam / Amber Alerts

Here in Utah, and throughout the US, we have Code Adam / Amber Alert Systems. I was wondering what other locales have in place for missing / exploited children.
I was at Wal*Mart earlier today when a Code Adam was called for a missing child. I’d just paid for my purchases and made the comment:
“Looks like I may be here a while.” The clerk was stunned that I said that. I was confused but put it to the test. I walked out the door with no problems what-so-ever.
I find this to be a problem because I’ve worked security at conventions and when a Code Adam is called by the security team for a missing child, the WHOLE convention SHUTS DOWN. No one goes in or out of the convention rooms until the missing child is found.
The fact I was able to walk out of Wal*Mart without being challenged was surprising and disturbing to say the least. I could have been the one driving the vehicle involved in the abduction. Dunno what the end results were, as I’d left before they called it off.

They don’t have anything like that in the UK, but I have to admit it sounds like a good idea.... but yeah kind of scary that you could just walk out that store if they have something like that in place!
