A question about boxsets generally...

my fave was my patsy cline boxed set it had alot of rare photos in the booklet it was 4 cds house din a rigid box which i likes better thna the abba one the cd’s kept falling out...enyas boxed set was cool too very cool it basically collected all the b-sides to her singles

OK, on my quest for some info, I head onto roxette.se and load up the discography. Roxbox is towards the top, and the additional info states that the boxset will be a

’Rigid casebound longbook to hold 4 CDs and one DVD’

Basically, its going to be one of those more-than-slightly-annoying shaped ones that will just about fit in your rack sideways, but will stick out and be annoying you when you bang into it forevermore.

My question is why do bands like boxsets to be this shape? Is it anymore asthetically pleasing than one that will fit in a standard CD rack with no trouble? Does anyone know why at all?

Boxset cases are usually designed by someone who works with the artist on what the artist wants as a style of case. I’ve seen them range from rectangular boxes to those designed as a guitar or a book or stuff like that.

Why longbook though? They are the most impractical of cases! Oh well, at least its not cardboard.

Anyway, who’s the guitar one? That’d beright up there with the impractical, that and the PIL set in the 3” metal tins

I don’t remember who made it saw it in passing. And I’d have to see the one design you’re talkin about before I can comment on it :o)

if that description is right its gonna be the same size of the nirvanna boxed set which was packaged really well it had a big booklet in it 3 cds and a dvd too.....i just don’t want it to be so big i can’t pack it when i move ;(

Awww....

I had a thought, if its rigid, is it going to be like one of those audio books with the plastic rimming or something?

I have a few nice boxsets, some ABBA ones... A Carpenters one.... and a Cliff Richard one (did I just really admit that...)

I have a Depeche Mode and a Cocteau Twins one, both of which are normal sized and will fir in my rack!

I’ve only got the Bon Jovi “100,000,000 BJ Fans can’t be wrong” and the Michael Jackson boxset. They are rather big, but look cool. Just hope the Roxette one looks good

Totally off topic.... but I got a new boxset today... The complete series of Sex and The City! :) Comes in a little shoebox!

christ can i throw some lighter fluid on that....i can’t believe anyone would buy that drivle
