The Worst Roxette Album is......
roxettevsoasis said on September 14, 2006 23:50:
You’re going to hate me on this one...But I think the worst album(or is that being too harsh?) is “Room Service”. Of course it has your “hits” but I think material wise this was not even close to “Joyride”–stellar album, “C!B!B!”–reminded me of the 70’s in a way, or even “Hand”–very alternative and updated for Roxette. I think C!B!B! was over looked by the radio here in America (we can blame Nirvana and Pearl Jam for this!–great bands though!) Real Sugar was a dissapointment. Everytime I played the song I totally lost concentration during the chorus-and that’s what build Roxette’s career (“Don’t Bore Us, Get To The Chorus!”) Even the ending track “My World, My Love, My Life” wasn’t close to a terrific ending that I was so used to, for example: Listen To Your Heart, Perfect Day, Go To Sleep(was much more soothing), and the gorge “Beautiful Things”!!! Come on!!!!!!

Room Service. But I disagree about Real Sugar: it is one of the best tracks on it.

“Pearls of Passion” - but it’s not a bad album by any stretch. Compared to other artists, Roxette make really strong albums...
Room_service said on September 15, 2006 03:41:
Pearls of Passion was a product of its own time. Room Service is even weaker if compared with the first album. It just proves how dull and weak it is.

Look Sharp.
If I’d make my personal RoxBox I wouldn’t pick a song from it ... or maybe LTYH, but that’s it.
(This has also got a lot to do due to the fact that I’ve heard TL, DFS etc so many times over the years. I wouldn’t pick Joyride either – the song that is.)

I actually love Room Service! :-p
Probably the Spanish album is their worst one

Room Service, The only tracks I really like: Fool and M&t&H.
Sascha said on September 15, 2006 07:31:
Pearls Of Passion without a doubt. It isn’t really Roxette yet, sounds 10 years older than Look Sharp! But I have to agree that Room Service tends to be a bit uninspired, more a recreation of Roxette’s older material. They got a bit too conservative after the wave of criticism for HAND. It contains great songs though!
chrisjankunas said on September 15, 2006 07:48:
I’m not that keen on Look Sharp actually either - some of the songs on it sound very dated nowadays. Room Service is good when you are in the right mood but I agree it doesn’t even touch Joyride. Maybe Entering Your Heart but that was a Bonus Japan song (WHY???? Stupid Roxette !!!) But I’m the same with HAND at times too !
I was surprised with the new song “One Wish” as I finally thought Roxette had gone back to their best sound - before 2006 their last song of theirs was “Bla ... (You Broke My Heart) which I think is such a fantastic song - Oasis sounding - and I was so pleased they had gone back to it. Now its like DBUGTTC - HAND again. How strange.

Baladas en Español.
This could have been a great album, but Escolar translations were terrible. I can’t understand how they let that man translate their songs.
Awful

Room Service...
I wouldn’t count any GH’s as “albums” since they’re not really that.
Claire said on September 15, 2006 10:12:
Dont think i would count Ballads en espanol as an album either, dont think ive ever listened to that all the way thru.
Roxette-atic said on September 15, 2006 10:38:
I would also say its “Room Serice”, even if one of my favourite Roxettesongs is in there ( It Takes You No Time To Get Here).
Roxette-atic said on September 15, 2006 10:39:
Seems like most fans agree on that ” Room Service” is the weakest album..
rox-kuryliw said on September 15, 2006 10:54:
i thought tourism just never listerned to it much , i liked alot of the songs on rs, nothing excellent all in the middle of the road, all safe. HAnd was very HIt and miss for me.
so in that case either HAND (hit and miss )
or Tourisum ( seemed a waste)
davidjjanderson1981 said on September 15, 2006 10:55:
Room Service, without a doubt! but there are some classic roxette songs on it like, IT takes you no time to get here’, Jefferson, looking for Jane which is my favourite.
HASMAD said on September 15, 2006 11:05:
I’m sure that the people that say that Room Service or HAND is the worst album didn’t listen Baladas en Español at all. It’s, by far, the very worst album in Roxette’s history. Or maybe you’re fortunate enough and don’t understand the lyrics lol
clerk said on September 15, 2006 13:08:
They have an album in spanish?;)
I like Room Service the least.
pardek said on September 15, 2006 13:12:
Room Service
although i like: tcoth, m&t&h, looking for jane
fabi_salisbury said on September 15, 2006 14:07:
Pearls of passion.... maybe cuz it sounds a bit dated nowadays... i never managed to listen to the whole stuff in one go... lol
denny said on September 15, 2006 15:23:
For me, Baladas en Español.
If we don’t count it lol, then HAND.
meradi said on September 15, 2006 17:01:
Excluding Baladas in Espanol, I’d have to vote for Room Service. I have no problem with the electronic-sounding stuff, like on HAND, but the Room Service songs did seem a bit uninspired and like not too much time was spent on them generally. Pearls is close, but I’ll count the re-release with ’Pearls of Passion’ on it instead of the original (great song). The re-re-re-releases of greatest hits are getting boring though.
Has anyone noticed that the old greatest hits CDs seem to disappear when they release a new greatest hits CD? Seems to be the case here in the US anyway.

My most loved Roxette album: Joyride
My most hated Roxette album: Baladas en Español

I don’t hate any Rox-album, though there are more trackx I dislike on HAND and RS. All the other albums are quite complete ok for me.
rad6380 said on September 16, 2006 10:11:
Baladas en Espanol
The Pop Hits (what was the point?)
and for ’proper’ albums - Have a Nice Day just edges it over Room Service but neither rox my world.

I have to say the Spanish album for me gets thumbs down... I just never liked it!
CoyRoy said on September 16, 2006 11:57:
The worst Roxette-album would be HAVE A NICE DAY. It had some jewels on it- like EVERY other Roxette album, but it’s too much of a technical mess. It’s as if no one in the production room had ANY idea of what to do with Per and Marie’s talents!
Is it techno? Is it pop? Is it technopoprock?
Roxette NEVER bothered with what is on the charts, why start now? Why make their music messy if they REALLY want to bring the 60’s into the NOW?
Per and Marie should take out their drums, guitars and hot leather pants and just do what they’re best at - ROCK & ROLL!!! - with a teensy weensy bit of sweet, sad ballads inbetween!!!
Room_service said on September 16, 2006 12:48:
Yes, but those jewels make HAND a brilliant album. And that’s something you can’t find in RS. Well, some songs are very pleasant, but not enough to take your breath away, like WICF or Beautiful Things (for example).
brentnewtown said on September 16, 2006 13:25:
CBB or PoP. PoP is probably the obvious choice, but CBB had some really cringeworthy songs as well such as Lies and Vulnerable.
darkhamster said on September 16, 2006 14:40:
With tracks like TCOTH, MATAH and My World My Love My Life Room Service just can’t be the worst! My vote goes to Pearls Of Passion.
marcusvandeursen said on September 16, 2006 16:55:
Joyride ...has some of the best (SMT, Watercolours, Perfect Day_ but also some of the worst material (I Remember You, The Big L)
mareo said on October 18, 2006 17:09:
Look Sharp! For me it has very few really listenable songs (The Look, LTYH, Dangerous, Paint), after all these years. The big international boom, OK, but nothing more. In contrast, I really liked Room Service
NickNL74 said on September 15, 2006 00:32:
Worst album would be “Greatest Hits, volume 23”...
