Rather shocked when I saw this news article....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/5341202.stm

Let’s hope it’s a positive move for the future... so many young people try and look like these models etc and of course most of the time that can lead to Eating Disorders...

let’ hope!

Woo hoo! Go Madrid! They have improved my self esteem no end by saying that

Funny they care so much about that now in 2006...

And funny how they let people misunderstand once and again that very complex illness called anorexia.

I guess it’s a good move anyway.

I admit, I know fuck all about anorexia, cos no one educates you about this stuff! Magazines should though!

I know everything there is to know... in my case, LOL :D

Then of course, everyone is different, even if there are some common trends :P

I was really impressed when I first read that article a few days back. I hope it starts a new trend across the fashion world.

whats not to knwo about anorexia its a disorder regarding bosy image where you binge and purge, throwing your food up to remain thin...peopel actually die from this which i think is kinda funny considering they mostly come from well off families...i never really understood what ever triggered anorexia lol

ally i was gonna pst that yesterday , about time they did it.

well down my town! anyway they should have thought about that a looooonnng time ago...

Oh well, someone just showed the deep ignorance about the subject at hand once again.
I’m very sad to know that someone can find funny that people dies from anorexia.

What triggers anorexia...? Well, depends on the case, but there was this disease long before Twiggy was even born, so can’t be fashion alone.

I don’t want to get into my personal details and relate them to this, but I’ll give just a clue. I positively know I’m not the only anorexic that is quite a perfectionist, and it really doesn’t have to do with image issues. At least not always. And most of the times, when it is related, it is not in the ways that people who has never suffered it can even imagine.

PS. I’m not an anorexic anymore, at least I’m not at the moment. But you never know, this is nearly impossible to be cured.

Well put Santi….

There is a lot to eating disorders people don’t know about whether is be Anorexia, Bulimia or a Compulsive Eating Disorder… I think there is still a lot of ignorance to it.

I only ever found out about eating disorders myself when I watch The Karen Carpenter Story on TV I think it was in the late 80’s from them on I became a fan of this star that died in the 80’s from Anorexia. Such a wonderful artist whose life was took from this illness.

I have also got a past experience with eating disorders I still have and one I constantly battle day to day dependent on my mood….

@coyboyusa: With all due respect, guy... you’re so ignorant... I can’t believe you wrote that bullshit!

As far as Madrid (or Cibeles) goes, I think that this gesture is a bit hypocrite. All this comes because there was a huge scandal last year because models looked like dead people in some cases, and it seems that they want to avoid the scandal this year. I don’t think they care a bit about anorexia or eating disorders.

Finally! Such a step is long overdue!!!
