Consequences of piracy - Buy or no buy?

Many of us could already listen to four of the new songs. OW and Reveal will be singles and part of the GH album. The other two will be contained in the RoxBox. There were some discussions about the songs and their quality. All songs are ranging between “worst song ever” and “can’t stop listening to”.
What I would like to know, is, what are the consequences of that act of piracy? Who will still buy the singles, the album and the RoxBox and who will not?
My position is:
Singles: Yes!
GH: Yes, the Deluxe Version and maybe the Spanish one!
RoxBox: No, because it’s too expensive for me. Yes, when it’s gotten cheaper.

So what are you doing?

I’ve got hold of the 4 tracks, something which I do feel guilty for. But I’m still gonna buy all the new releases when they come out. I can’t NOT buy them!!

Speaking generally and not just Rox, I use piracy as a way to “try before you buy.” I think we’ve all liked a song, bought the album and found that was the only good song. I became a fan of The Rasmus thanks to a burned copy of their album, and now own all their genuine albums. I just copied James Blunt and Pink, and love both albums and will buy their stuff, maybe even go to their concerts.

I think piracy can be abused of course but for me it’s a great way to try stuff out and see if I like it. In this case, it was great to hear Rox’s new songs instead of waiting till THEY decide to release them. I didn’t listen to RS when it was leaked cos I wanted to enjoy the album, but with these ones I had no intention of ever buying the box and wanted to hear the songs. Who knows, maybe for some people the songs are good enough to make them change their mind about the box boycott!

I will buy the singles. But I knew I would do that before I heard the songs.
Hope I don’t have to order them online... though who knows, Valencia sucks for pop music...
Oh well, I can always wait until I visit Barcelona again, I found in one shop over there even CDs of Gyllene Tider and Marie solo, and lots of singles of Roxette. I guess the shop will still be in the same place :P

Probably I’ll buy only the single... Then, if people are satisfied with RoxBox / GH20, I’ll buy them :-) But of course, they have to be much more cheaper than now:-)

I’ll get the single and GH deluxe on the spot (mainly for the booklet and because I’m a collector) and RoxBox when it gets kinda cheaper. so, no harm done, i would NEVER do with a bunch of leaked mp3, forget it!

my husband Christian and I are very sure to buy all. The singles, the GH and the Rox-Box, although we know the songs also already, although we know all their greatest Hits. It’s something which must not to miss in our great Roxette collection.

But is it true, that the single will released in Germany on 06/10?

I only listened to One Wish and Reveal, not the others. Will buy the singles and the RoxBox, maybe the deluxe GH too. Hope for a great packaging and booklet for the box!

To be honest, i always intended to have the roxbox, no matter what the new songs would sound like... i will buy it for sure, i see no point in buying the GH as it will be “all included” in the box already... That will be a good option for those who cannot afford the box though...

I guess I’ll have to make an update since I have now pre-ordered the RoxBox (because the price was “just” 455 SEK).

So, singles, yes (at least I hope I’ll get the international OW/IMHBL-single as well as OW).
GH20 Ltd Ed, yes.
GH20, Spanish Ed, maybe.
RoxBox, yes.

I do think that most of people who have these mp3s are huge rox fans and they eventually buy the album/single. I wouldn’t worry too much

Even I will buy it, if I find the way. My friend got a credit card but we’re having problems as some sites don’t have Serbia listed among countries... :/ But slowly, I will buy everything Roxette related I missed all these years! :)

thnaks to the leak i will not buy the hits or boxed set i was turned off by the sound, the 2 new songs would have justified buying the boxed set but after hearing them i’ll pass

On the other hand, I think piracy goes more with people who is not fan. I mean, a fan tries to get original things.

Have decided to... buy Rox box straight away wont bother with single or GH until later. I havent bought the last few rox singles ive just picked them up whenever im in Sweden. IF OW gets released here then i will buy it.

No I dont feel guilty at ALL!!! I know I buy everything,
anyway :) *LOL* I always did, and will always do !!!!

You know why ? So that when I get old, I can sit with my
daughter and say to her, “Thats whats music all about my
sweet child” .... An then she’ll probaly laugh and say
something like ...... Ahhhhhh never mind... She’d probaly
just laugh at me :S

hmmm..... good question. I have the 4 songs (and yes, I do feel guilty after all).
I am SURE gonna buy all songs i don’t have on iTunes, and I’ll probably ask the box/hits cd for christmas. If I don’t get them, i’ll buy them... ever...

I will buy the singles. For the RoxBox I’m not sure yet. Maybe if I can talk the whole family into doing diet/eating just half for some weeks. Or maybe I am lucky and Santa Claus changes his mind. I’ve got enough of bed clothes and socks anyway.

Singles yes, Box maybe. Dunno. We’ll see. If Per promises to make a decent album the next 24 months. :P
