What Was The Song That Made You A Fan?

54 replies

What was the song that made everyone a fan of Roxette? I loved Run To You in 1994 and remembered it for years..but It wasn’t until Wish I Could Fly in 1999 that i became a Roxer...i played it again and again and still do....

The Look, on the radio, Spain, 1989 .... sooo long ago.

the first that i heard: june afternoon, but the first i really understand how wanderful is the music, it’s the look, but no in 1989 i listen to it after some time (long time)

Joyride made me a fan properly, but a long time after it was released (come on, I was only 3 at the time!)

Loved Almost Unreal in 1994 - my sister has DBUGTTC in 1995 - I was only 8 - Got into Roxette officialy in 2003 :D

2001 for me (nothing to do with Milky btb)

@whateveriam can i ask you how old are you

SPENDING MY TIME!!

Oh, I fall in love with Roxette in 1993 as I heard it...

13 years later - I still LOVE them ... especially MARIE (-;

I love Roxette since the first time I listened “The Look” on the radio in 1989. It was a nice spring afternoon and I remember I was sat on the table.

The centre of the heart...

Roxette were promoting heavly “Room service” in Poland and they were almost everything, on every chanell, in every radio station. TCOTH was the most played song by Polish radio stations

* beautiful recollection *

The Big L

Neverending love (Gessle is my hero since 81...so I had no choice).

@Ary Sya- I’m 18, why you ask?

1991 When Fading Like A Flower came out. I bought the Joyride album.
...and it took like 10 years to get the maxi CD finally via ebay.

the sweet hello the sad goodbye. and things will never be the same (joyride).

but i´m not a fan of one wish.

I went crazy with Joyride in May 91 and became a fan in Dec 91 when I got Joyride album as a christmas present. So it will be 15 years this december. Time for another anniversary. Let´s celebrate.

God, don’t remind me! I’ll end up doing a cake!

June Afternoon + Fading Like a Flower made me a fan when I heard them on the Don’t Bore Us Compilation ;)

Joyride > I remember being on holiday (Tenerife), having a crush on some good looking guy who played that song once. After that I requested that song over and over again, singing ’hello, you fool, I love you’....

Listen To Your Heart, 1989. Funny how memories keep lingering on...;)

id have to say Almost unreal . But big fan after WICF and then bought all there other albums.

Only started to buy their albs properly recently (last year or so) up until then I listened to them on compilations or one I taped from the library if I remember correctly...

It must have been love, I’m thirty.

I liked “The Look” when it came out, but it was “Dressed For Success” that made me pay attention, so I borrowed the cassette of Look Sharp from my Dad, and I haven’t stopped listening to Roxette since. Well, there was a brief time between 1995 and 1999 when I had no idea what they were doing, but let’s not talk about that dark period, shall we? :-)

@Anarem: Ha ha! Okay, we won’t mention “the dark times”....

From the first time I heard “The Look” (February 1989 on the “American Top 40”) I was hooked. 17 years later and they are the one band whose new music has always met or exceeded my expectations... except for a few songs like “Happy Together” and “Fool,” I can honestly say I love every song they’ve released...

How Do You Do!

spending my time. Just love this song!!
after listening to it i decided i wanted to learn english to understand what they sang.. i was 9 then, now i´m 23 and still love this song, love Roxette, love Marie and specially love Per

It was actually How do you do..

first song i heard from them (1993) - knocking on every door! and then i saw the music video to “spending my time” and i was hooked. i think marie looks absolutely gorgeous in that music video!!!

It all started when my cousin came over to spend a holiday and she brought her C!B!B! cd... Later i found out who sang “It must have been love” and “Listen to your heart” lol.... There isnt a song really i think...

Ally... The Big L.???? O.o

@whateveriam: curiosity, becouse i thought (think) that maybe we are the same age, but no.
thanks

@Ary-Sya-why, how old did you think I was, and how old are you?

@whateveriam: mmmm...ok i prefer don’t tell my age...but you tell to me...so i’m a little teenager...if you want to know more send to me a mail

the look in 1989... my sister liked roxette as they were the in thing during that time an i always listened to her look sharp tape he he..

still remeber when dressed for success came out.. everyone was like wow... didnt really expect a female been lead of roxette he he.... since then ive been a fan....

@whateveriam: are you still alive?

“How do you do” for me too :-)

@Ary-Sya, yes I am still alive, just real life catching up with me...

well. it was spring of ’91 and i’ve heard ’joyride’ for the first time, and then again and again
and i was asking everybody who was singing it.... and i was 12 years old...

sweet lord, it was 15 years ago... so I have my own little anniversary

currently ’joyride’ is one of that songs which i often avoid, because i’ve heard it too many times

The Look at 2am in a psychiatric unit bed. I “blame” it all on Per and his voice *lol*

Joyride, February 1991. :) The first time I heard the song I became obsessed with it. :D

Sleeping In My Car made me really discover and love Roxette. After that I bouth the CBB album, witch made me a fan for life.

It was IMHBL they did a tv performance on Cannon and Ball lol i was sitting on my grans knee watching it (i was only 7 lol) then i asked my dad (who was a dj) who they were and from then on i got all the Rox records after her had used them lol

Just couldn’t get HDYD!out of my head and that started it off...

Dressed for success for me...but then I had a break around 92-93. So the song that really made me fan for good was Perfect day live - was watching the gig from Switzerland, it somehow popped on TV again...and there I was, teras in my eyes, totally hooked!

Makes me wish I’d seen them live!

“Dangerous” in 1989. Caught in my ear instantly and wouldn’t leave.

Dangerous

It was playing in a hotel room when I was driving across the west coast of america - about 15years ago!!!

Also we were one of the first 300 people to have MTV before it got rolled out and Listen To Your Heart video played over and over...

HOOKED !!

The Look ! In far ‘91.

Fading Like A Flower made me a fan. I liked Roxette before Joyride was released but I wasn’t a fan since I simply was too young. When Joyride was released I was 10 and the only song I listened to was FLAF. Again and again and again. My mother started hating this song. I never heard the complete album, only FLAF. This lasted about a year. I was crazy about this song. Then I got Tourism and the same thing started with Fingertips. I got older and started listening to the whole albums. And it never let me go again completely..

I like them since I watched one performance of The Look in TV show, they shocked me, so powerfull, so funny, but I became crazy fan about them the first time I played “How do you do” in vinyl, a lot of time ago!! and Per started to sing “I see you comb your hair...” he maked me trembling

It was definitely when Dangerous came out - I was about 9 so couldn’t afford the album!
By the time christmas came round Joyride was out so no-one ended up getting me Look Sharp after all - had to wait fot my birthday then!!

It was ’It must have been love’. A friend made a cassette for me with songs she thought I might like. As IMHBL was the last song on side A it was only a little more than half of the song. But I liked it anyway.

I loved It Must have Been Love, bought the Pretty Woman soundtrack for it. Didn’t really know who Roxette was back then. I also had a compilation with Dangerous on it (which I played non-stop). I have no idea why it took me so long to put 2 & 2 together to figure out that they were the same band. When Joyride came out, I went CRAZY. The rest is history.
So my two songs that made me a fan?

It Must Have Been Love & Dangerous.

Neverending Love, July 16 1986.

It must have been love... In 1989
