Swedish price for the box revealed
Strest said on September 8, 2006 10:00:
The box can now be preordered from Ginza.
IMO the price is insane - 689 SEK.
(About $95 US or EUR 75.)
Good luck selling it for that price...
freddyhardest said on September 8, 2006 10:09:
Hey !! they include two songs we don´t have and, errr... one or two demos as well. Isn´t it gorgeous !! ?? I think it´s really cheap.
Strest said on September 8, 2006 10:14:
“Just compare it to other box-sets... It isn’t that much....”
Other box-sets like...?
StephenDH said on September 8, 2006 10:22:
That is around $130.00 Australian Dollars.
I’m going to sell a few things on Ebay I think to raise the money, because I want to buy the Greatest Hits versions, and CD Single.
Please note I will not be selling any of my Roxette or related collection - just don’t want anyone contacting me asking if I will be selling any of my Roxette stuff which has taken me years to collect.
Santi said on September 8, 2006 10:25:
That is 130 Australian Dollars plus shipping, because you import it right?
(EDIT: I hadn’t read the first page news :DD)
chrisjankunas said on September 8, 2006 10:29:
:S Didn’t think it would £50 !!!! But then, the Enigma box is £57 !
I was kinda hoping for £30 - £40 bracket. Oh well.
Strest said on September 8, 2006 10:33:
Yeah, the Enigma boxset costs 100 SEK more, but it’s got two more CD’s and one more DVD (6 CD/2 DVD compared to 4 CD/1 DVD)
Krischan said on September 8, 2006 10:47:
Generally seen, the price is absolutely appropriate since the buyer receives 5 disks and a book.
But considering there’s only little new material for me I’ll skip it.
RJ1976 said on September 8, 2006 10:49:
The 2 unknown songs are pricy :) *LOL* Keep the box...
For that amont of money, i could hire one to break into
the studio and steal more demos *LOL*
Is a JOKE !!!
natasha1 said on September 8, 2006 11:02:
i was personally thinking it wouldnt be less than £40 - and in our shops in the uk it will probably be £55 so ill be looking online...
Claire said on September 8, 2006 11:19:
Better start looking down the back of the couch then. Might have to wait until xmas by the sounds of it to get the GH cd, the rox box and a new bath room lol!
wondering whether it is worth it, might wait and see if it comes down or get it on ebay or summit. cant believe i am saying this about a Rox release but for 2 songs its a lot!
animalkingdom said on September 8, 2006 11:35:
I was thinking it’d be around 70 euros...It’s a lot of money for recycled material - but I’ll buy it, anyway. I want the book and MTV unplugged!
arnie said on September 8, 2006 11:41:
mmmm usd 95 for 1 unreleased song?
mmm Myth must be the most expensive song ever! This must be in the Guinness Records’ book
yellowtigger said on September 8, 2006 12:35:

I thought about the price some time ago.... 80 euros... now the real price: 75!!
I win...!! ;)

as days go by i get more reasons for me not to buy that box...
it´s funny, it used to be the only thing i thought of, now it has become something so negative. how can a beautiful thing turn into something so ugly? per, i have one wish, change the tracklisting and you will get all the money i´ll ever earn in my lifetime. seriously, i´d give it all away for the tracklisting we were all dreaming about. and coy... damn it! i´m whimpering again...
whateveriam said on September 8, 2006 15:17:

I wasn’t enthousiastic about the box at all, but I planned to buy it anyway but with this price? No way!
marcusvandeursen said on September 8, 2006 16:49:
they better design a damn nice packaging for this box... a nice linnenpaper or velvet box cover, would suit the dusty theme of the box I’d say :o) (just joking)
daniel_alv said on September 8, 2006 16:55:
That was really expensive... and what will it cost at a regular store then since internet often is cheaper
onlywhenidream said on September 8, 2006 17:21:
i’ll buy it and am happy to. maybe I get paid too much?
gyllene_tjej said on September 8, 2006 17:34:
just to compare: at the same site, Marie’s box with 6 cds costs only 400sek...
http://www.ginza.se/index.aspx?artnr=20141
no need for me to add there were some cool bonuses on almost EVERY CD and the CDs themselves were remastered too?...and what will we pay for now...*sigh*
Strest said on September 8, 2006 18:33:
Also you have to think about the fact that her box made the other albums obsolete (well, except for the live DVD/CD-package) and this is just an addition to the collection even though you’ve got most of it already.
I wonder how many non-hardcore fans are willing to pay this kinda money for an introduction to Roxette (since those are the target audience)?
Jud (moderator) said on September 8, 2006 18:51:
so.. if I was still sliiiiiiightly doubting about buying the box, now I’ve 100% decided (against the 99% until just a few seconds ago). 75€ sorry but no. O
O_o this is 12.500 pesetas.
GT_85 said on September 8, 2006 18:57:
To buy all the albums one by one on the same site (Ginza.se)
Ballad & pop hits/Complete (DVD) 99 kr
Joyride 1991 CD - 79 kr
Look sharp! 1988 CD - 79 kr
Pearls of passion 1986 CD - 79 kr
Room service 2001 CD - 79 kr
Tourism 1992 CD - 79 kr
One Wish (Single) 29 kr
Have a nice day and C!B!B! are not available there, so these prices are from cdon.com
Crash Boom Bang 79 kr
Have A Nice Day 159 kr
Total price is 759, slightly more than the box. But you’ll get more (and better songs) But no Unplugged. So for a person who wants to be “introduced” to Roxette, I don’t know what’s best. Box or (almost) all releases.
Debora said on September 8, 2006 19:25:
€75! That’s 300 pesos argentinos! Almost a complete salary for many people.
Now I’m sure: if it isn’t releasead in my country, I won’t buy it, it’s beyond of my possibilities.
Sparvogamarie said on September 9, 2006 01:01:
“just don’t want anyone contacting me asking if I will be selling any of my Roxette stuff which has taken me years to collect.”
Even if they did, couldn’t you just tell them no...??
$130...that is pretty expensive, wonder how much it will be in Australia? Sweden is a LOT more expensive than OZ. It might be pricey the first few months, but as it won’t be very popular it’ll probably drop quite fast. If Aussie fans are patient they’ll almost certainly get it for a lot less.
ally77 said on September 9, 2006 07:53:
That’s only just over £50 in the UK, that’s pretty much what I expected...
**sits back and waits now for CDON to list the price, so I can ordered it all....**
Pascal said on September 9, 2006 08:23:
For me the price is OK because I won’t buy the single and the 20-track CD and because I don’t have the videos yet.
nate said on September 9, 2006 12:05:
Now I’m certain I will not be purchasing Rox Box. $106.00 CAD$ is an insane price.
Room_service said on September 9, 2006 12:45:
It’s crazy, I can’t afford it. Other boxed sets are not as expensive as this *gold coated set*.
After reading this, I remember when the Frida’s set (former member of ABBA) was released late in 2005, a crazy fan from Vienna bought at least 4 four copies, just to have the pleasure in getting it. Haha, that was one of the reasons I quit the ABBA forum, I was tired of freaks! :-P
tcooh said on September 9, 2006 13:31:
One word, Ginza is expensive!!!!!
cdon.com has it listed, but no price yet, I’ll wait for their price before I judge the price..
lonely_girl said on September 9, 2006 14:11:
ouch, that would mean all my Xmas money goes away for it...
Strest said on September 9, 2006 14:49:
tcooh: No, Ginza is not expensive. For example, they’re cheaper on the GH20.
149 / 189 compared to CDON’s 169 / 219.
ally77 said on September 9, 2006 14:49:
Why are people going on about it being expensive... let’s be honest it’s a box... it’s contains a lot of stuff (no one really cares if you have it already... many people don’t)....
Just over £50 in the UK... hardly a great deal of money... (I suppose it’s different from some people outside Europe).... but come on what price did you expect it to be £20 or something....
Strest said on September 9, 2006 15:12:
1. It’s a box where most of the stuff has been released earlier.
2. It’s not mostly rare gems / unreleased songs and it’s not a ’complete studio recordings’-box.
It doesn’t make any old albums obsolete so it’s just a bunch of “random good songs” put together.
Basically it’s a ’Greatest Hits (and more) Deluxe’.
3. Compared to similar boxes it’s rather expensive.
And since you ask, I had expected it to cost £35-40.
25% more than that is well, just too much for me.
ally77 said on September 9, 2006 15:21:
and a lot of it has not been released official, bootlegs are not official and are normally of poor quality...
Strest said on September 9, 2006 15:30:
Well, I wouldn’t call it a lot when it’s slightly more than 50% of one CD (and about 30% of the DVD.)
bunny2 said on September 9, 2006 16:13:
I will buy it ! I also think it is much money, but c’mon it’s Roxette ! It’s something we waited for ! I waited for such a special box very much ! Even Bon Jovi released such a box with many unreleased songs and they sold many of the box.
Looking forward to open the booklet with many photos and other stuff we might did not know. I am very excited ! :-)
bunny2 said on September 9, 2006 16:15:
ally77: you are right ! bootlegs are also very hard to find and quite expensive if you are buying it from a (ex) fan. ;-)
We all should be lucky about the release !
Strest said on September 9, 2006 16:25:
Yeah, that Bon Jovi-box set is a great example of what it should look like.
The first 3 CD’s got unreleased songs and the fourth CD got rare songs from soundtracks etc and the DVD is ’behind the scenes’, the band talking about the songs etc.
And it’s also much cheaper than the RoxBox :/
Edit: (I bought mine for £35.99 and it was not on sale or anything, and that was also why I expected the RoxBox to cost £35-40.)
tcooh said on September 9, 2006 21:48:
@Strest: In general Ginza is expensive! In comparison for the things I’ve bought, in 8 out of 10 cases I’d chose cdon cause of price. And Ginza have rip offs for postage! Glad they only sell to sweden now, and no longer norway also..
btw, my cdon has GH20 for 159 ;) For cdon.com look out to order in campaign weeks to get cheaper prices, and get it delivered when it is released..
Strest said on September 9, 2006 21:56:
I don’t know what they charge(d) for delivery to Norway, but it’s the same amount for Swedes in both stores; 29 SEK.
And I suppose the price on the Norwegian CDOn is in NOK, so it’s still more expensive than Ginza.
AddeColciago said on September 10, 2006 08:15:
Oh, quite expensive. But I’ve bought movie-sets for more money, so this isn’t a big deal..
Looking forward to it more and more!
tcooh said on September 10, 2006 09:52:
Ginza charged 89 nok!! for postage to norway... cdon is 29 for anything, but mostly get free postage
Btw, cdon has the GH20 for 139/179 now
639 nok for the box at cdon... :|
Only hope now is that my local recordstore can fix me something less expensive than that... but doubt it... or wait, and see the prices drop :P
Strest said on September 10, 2006 10:09:
Yeah, but you can’t really compare postage for a company that’s selling in a country and a company that exports to that country.
Anyway, CDON has lowered the price on the GH20 so they now cost the same as Ginza, but Ginza is 10 SEK cheaper on the box set.

answer from CDWOW
Hi
Many thanks for the enquiry. I can’t give you a definite answer for the moment though I’m afraid. We are trying to get hold of this one, but at the moment I can’t confirm if our suppliers will be able to deliver to us. Maybe you could check back nearer the time of its release next month, or drop me a line then to check if you have not found it already? Sorry to be vague about that but thanks for supporting CD-WOW.
