One Wish = Top Of The Charts
ally77 said on September 2, 2006 11:09:
Okay maybe I dream but do you think One Wish could make it to number 1 in Sweden, of course no one has heard it yet…. But I wonder if it went to number 1 how Per and Marie would act and think?
Maybe a Swede out there could tell us if it stands a chance of making the top slot?
Room_service said on September 2, 2006 13:32:
The last Swedish #1 was “The Centre Of The Heart” 5 years ago. I don’t think the new single will hit the top. In fact, their singles charted better in other European countries than in Sweden.
GT_85 said on September 2, 2006 14:20:
Roxette has never been very big in Sweden. Gessle has, GT has and Marie, but not Roxette. The swedish people don’t think that Roxette are for them. Roxette are for the rest of the world.
But since the last time Roxette released something lot’s of things have happened. With Mazarin and GT25 lot’s od people “discovered” Gessle.
So, a number one single I’m pretty sure it will be. But the GH won’t reach top 10 I guess.
ally77 said on September 2, 2006 17:08:
I would love to see it top the charts in Sweden and other parts of the world...
Ingo said on September 2, 2006 19:23:
@GT 85
Roxette not big in Sweden? Sorry but that’s not true. They had 16 (!) Top 10 singles and 6 No. 1 albums there, more than in any other country, LS and Joyride each sold 6 x Platinum there, and LS is the 2nd best selling album for allt time in Sweden.
ncurran said on September 2, 2006 19:26:
Depends how good the song is of course, but it probably does have a chance of making nr 1 in sweden. Probably nowhere else though
GT_85 said on September 2, 2006 20:09:
Yes, and Tomas Ledin has the most selling record ever in Sweden. Many records sold that much back in the 80’s and early 90’s.
Sure they was big, but not like their solo works or GT.
And remember that only three(or is it four?) Roxette singles has been #1 in Sweden. Out of 40(?) single releases that’s not so much.
Back to topic, in europe i guess it will be like all other Rox songs, “radio hits”. If it’s a good song and a video that actually being played on MTV ans such, it might most likely be as succesfull as Wish I could fly, but not a The Look, so to speak.
Santi said on September 2, 2006 20:31:
I always had the impression when living in Sweden that Roxette was a lesser name than especially M. Fredriksson and Gyllene Tider.
Wicf said on September 2, 2006 20:58:
@GT 85: Your comment about Roxette never being big in Sweden really made me laugh
daniel_alv said on September 2, 2006 23:09:
Roxette is big in Sweden, but Per and GT is bigger. I think this singel will be a hit, if it will be no. 1 on the singles chart I can’t say, but I think it will climb high and become a hit.
Accually TCOTH was a Great hit! MATAH to. I really think that Sweden is waiting for Roxette after RS and the Gessle/GT successes.

how much of a shock would it be if it made the UK #1 position or even made it into the top 10 here? i would fall over with shock and probably choke from disbelief
Santi said on September 5, 2006 10:04:
I’d like to hear it before predicting anything. I prefer to have safe bets :D
pwbbounce (moderator) said on September 5, 2006 13:44:
@david - it’ll be a big shock if it even get’s in the Top 40!! Somehow I don’t think it’s going to. There’s not enough time between the radio air date and the release. They’re always the same!! Try a month before the release date, at least!!
whateveriam said on September 5, 2006 19:26:
Am considering taping it and playing it on my bus...that way about 40 people can hear it and go ’Hmm...’. Or play it in college, work or similar, and see how many like it. If radio doesn’t play it, we have to!
rox-kuryliw said on September 5, 2006 20:57:
may be crap yet LOL. Yes they are cutting it fine very fine with radio play to release.
roxettevsoasis said on September 5, 2006 23:12:
I’m curious is to how they are going to promote Roxette again in the states besides a ROXBOX which most people will pass up because a lot of these kids are listening to all these new bands (Artic Monkeys, Franz F, and Bloc Party etc.../a lot of british bands besides the typical dance/house music always ruling the charts (billboard) Per never mentioned anything more about this “new” record deal or promotion. Let’s hope they don’t end up putting 3/4 of the ROXBOX to that dreaded McDonald’s deal again (EMI=Every Mistake Imagineable!!!) Roxette still rule either way, charts or no charts...
RobS said on September 6, 2006 08:53:
I’d love to see it be a huge hit in Europe, then EMI OZ might do some promo down here. And hopefully it might just get some radio play down here.
After reading some of the comments around here, things are looking very positive for it to become huge.
Ingo said on September 6, 2006 08:57:
Sorry but it is really nonsense to say it’s gonna be huge or maybe it enters the Top 10 without we haven’t heard the song yet. The name ROXETTE alone doesn’t guarantee a hit.

if it gets to number 1 in the UK i will eat my pants! (clean ones!)
>;-)
and then i will ask the entire nation what the hell was wrong with all the other singles if they so deem this roxette tune to be a #1 hit.
Vixzter said on September 11, 2006 22:16:
what me eating my pants or roxette getting to #1 in the uk charts with their worst ever single? ;-)
Vixzter said on September 11, 2006 22:20:
i say pants cos i know especialy now that its a: not going to be in the shops when everyone thinks it is and b: if it is there will only be one copy hidden at the back of the new releases and than in years to come i will have brought it and it will be worth a fortune cos its rare.
whateveriam said on September 11, 2006 22:21:
If we push enough, we could do Top30 I reckon... in line with Beautiful South...
whateveriam said on September 11, 2006 22:36:
No, I wouldn’t expect you to eat pants for T30, clean sock however...
Vixzter said on September 11, 2006 23:04:
i only eat pants when roxette get a number 1! sox dont count
whateveriam said on September 11, 2006 23:07:
No, you should have a system where you eat an item of clothing if a Rox song gets to a position i.e #1=pants, Top 5=sock, Top 10=tie and so on...
Vixzter said on September 11, 2006 23:13:
ok.....#1 its the pants.....top 5 its a sock.......top 10 its my hockey stick......... top 20 ....running out of things to eat!
roxtexanet said on September 11, 2006 23:13:
“One Wish” is SOOO throwback... I hear The Cars, Men Without Hats’ “Pop Goes The World”... and of course Roxette... but VERY 80’s. LOVE IT!
imazombieinthem... said on September 12, 2006 08:56:
How did COTH ever get to number 1? Its not that good. So this song has every chance!
Claire said on September 12, 2006 13:40:
Wasnt gonna happen anyway and now we heard the song you can forget it. sorry thats the way it is. It might do top 20 in Europe
roxtexanet said on September 12, 2006 14:26:
@zombie: “TCOTH” got to the top of the charts because it’s fantastic.
substitute said on September 12, 2006 15:59:
One wish will break the charts surely!!
The world needs of a soo catchy song as OW!
OW has big posibilities to be a hit,at least here in Argentina.
davidc4 said on September 12, 2006 16:51:
if roxette get to #1 i will eat the spare copy of The Ballad Hits With KP sauce on it......
darkhamster said on September 12, 2006 17:07:
As far as I remember, ON reached #11 in Sweden with no promotion at all. This time around, the promo gigs may help pushing it into Top 10. However #1 is out of the question, I guess...
Room_service said on September 13, 2006 03:11:
C’mon, substitute! I don’t see OW topping any radio chart in Argentina! Of course, if the few fans that live here call to the radios using different identities, the song will get into the charts. But the song won’t appeal the casual listener.
Look at the ranking of albums sales for the 2nd half of August: Maná, Diego Torres, Calamaro, Julieta Venegas, David Bolzoni, Ricardo Arjona, Silvio Rodriguez... Mostly Latin music. The highest albums in English is Shakira’s “Oral Fixation 2” (#11) and Blunt’s “Back to Bedlam” (#17). I don’t see Roxette fitting that list. The radio charts are more or less the same: mostly Latin music. OW is to tacky for that kind of public.
roxtexanet said on September 13, 2006 04:02:
If “OW” wasn’t from a GH collection, I would be positive it would enter at #1 in Sweden (and I’m pretty sure it will anyway because it’s been a LONG time since there’s been a new Rox track so interest will surely be high)... singles from GH collections never seem to get the promotional push that songs from all-new albums do for some reason (not just Roxette - but Bon Jovi’s “Always” is a major exception to that ’rule’ ).
pwbbounce (moderator) said on September 13, 2006 07:46:
I take it you mean in Sweden Ally? Not the UK!! Never!!! lol

Please someone, tell me where I can find the song, i need it so much! =D
dreamcast116 said on September 2, 2006 12:22:
I think it there is a great possibility for One Wish to make it all the way to the top. Per Gessle and Roxette are very big in Sweden, you know. In other words; the question is not whether the single will reach #1, but when.
