Why do they never include 'neverending love' ?

Why do they never include it ?
reasons why -
-was roxette’s first big single
-is great pop song
-Was a hit more so than latter songs
-would be great to put on GH 20
so why do u think its not included again ? ? ?

“-was roxette’s first big single”
A good reason to include it. I agree with you.
“-is great pop song”
Fair. But so is “Pay The Price” Why not include that as it was released in Japan at least. ;) It doesn’t really count as a single in most eyes though does it? Same with Neverending Love - all of Pearls Of Passion really. Wasn’t worldwide release so it is kinda left out.
-Was a hit more so than latter songs
Again. It was a hit maybe in 4 countries??? Does that really make it better than songs that were at least released in a majority of the Rox market??
“-would be great to put on GH 20”
Can agree with this point ! It doesn’t seem to likely though does it? It appears on the extended Greatist Hits - The RoxBox, doesn’t it? I think they don’t include it as it techically wasn’t a part of Roxette’s true career - the international take over of the world. Although it faded after DBUGTTC it was still international. I think that is why they won’t put it on a normal GH - it takes up a track that could be an international single - they obviously had trouble squeezing their hits to 18 songs as Gessle even said Opportunity Nox would DEFINITELY be included - but it seems we can’t always trust what he says after the songs he mentioned that would but failed to appear in the Box :S

So Roxette is 18, not 20, since they start counting from Look Sharp!
Maybe they delay the whole RoxBox thingie and reconsider releasing something more worth the price in 2 years time :P

If NL had flopped in Sweden, Roxette would’ve never released another album, I think... Roxette started their career with this song, so why not to include it on GH? Maybe it was a bigger hit than Vulnerable :)
Sascha said on September 1, 2006 14:06:
I think it’s simply because it was released before their big breakthrough, it doesn’t belong to Roxette’s international string of hits. Honestly NL sounds quite dusty and hasn’t that trademark Roxette sound yet. I think a new version could haven been a nice option to complete the GH.
chrisjankunas said on September 1, 2006 14:48:
I would expect it to sound a little like Run To You / BLa Bla BLa (You Broke My Heart) if they did rerecord it.

But if it’s a 20 year celebration, they should be included all the hits and important songs from 1986, and neverending love is one of them, isn’t it?
marcusvandeursen said on September 1, 2006 15:34:
BASICALLY, THEY’RE ONLY CELEBRATING 1989-2006 IT’S SEEMS THIS WAY... 17 YEAR... WOULD NEARLY THINK WE MIGHT GET ANOTHER GH IN 3 YEARS TIME TO CELEBRATE 20 YEARS SINCE THEIR INTERNATIONAL BREAKTHROUGH
GT_85 said on September 1, 2006 16:14:
Do you really think Neverending love is one of Roxette’s 18 greatest hits?
ally77 said on September 1, 2006 16:45:
Perhaps because most people who would buy it don’t know about rox 86 - 88 era!
Wicf said on September 1, 2006 16:54:
Some people still don’t get the point... Roxette are releasing a GH album, cuz they’re celebrating 20 years, aren’t they? So it’s just logical they should include their first single, isn’t it? OMG, It doesn’t matter that it wasn’t a big hit
chrisjankunas said on September 1, 2006 17:39:
” Their 20 Greatest songs ! “
Maybe to them it doesn’t fall under this category. Not too fussed really as I already have it on 2 other cds and the RoxBox when it comes.
Funny that we moan about getting the same old songs again in GH but we moan when some same old songs aren’t included ;) Funny.
GT_85 said on September 1, 2006 18:26:
The CD is called “A Collection of Roxette Hits - Their 20 Greatest Songs” Not anything with 20 years or something, but 20 greatest songs. And to be honest, Neverending love is not one of those.
GT_85 said on September 1, 2006 18:51:
If the CD would have been called “20 years of hits” it would have been a different story.
roxlad said on September 1, 2006 20:17:
@GT85 that’s true and I thought about it myself but it would be nice to see it on the tracklist for a change.

Its a thought, they don’t like Chances do they?

Hits, songs, tracks
I would have preferred a different title that didn’t incorporate “Hits” anyhow. Seeing as One Wish and Reveal have yet to even be released they are not yet hits (although I’m sure there will be a katrillion threads debating their greatness once they are out)
It would have been nice to include Neverending Love - regardless of how big it was - as it still represents one of the first chapters in their history. They are not the first band to essentially ignore their first album (Eurythmics immediately springs to mind) but the whole 86-06 thing is ridiculous to put on the cover if the collection does not span that time period.

LOL! You hit the nail right on the head with that one. I’ve also heard someone say in another thread that they would have preferred to have all of the old albums repackaged with bonus tracks, rather than have the box as it is - yeah right! Then you have to buy the entire back catalogue to get the new songs!!
I also think it’s funny that we complain when they DO give us what we ask for - I’m sure that “Myth” and “Unplugged” were included just so that Per wouldn’t ever have to answer a question about when we’ll get these ever again! :-D

I’m a strong supporter of that. I’d love to get them remastered and bonus tracks added on a second disc. Oh, and in nice digipaks.
(Like he has done with the old GT-albums)
roxtexanet said on September 3, 2006 16:13:
@Strest: I am sure there are others who would like remastered/digipak versions of the old albums too, but can you imagine the uproar if THAT was what came down as the long-awaited Rox Box??!
Strest said on September 3, 2006 20:29:
I would’ve really liked it if they released the studio albums (Pearls of Passion, Look Sharp, Joyride, Tourism, Crash! Boom! Bang!, Have a Nice Day & Room Service + a bonus CD or two) in a box. Remastered, digipaks, and all of them 2CD versions.
Sure, it’d probably cost a lot, but they could’ve released everything on it incl stuff that only exists on vinyl or are very rare + some demos.
A 16 CD box with all of the songs, now THAT’S a RoxBox :)

Because Neverending Love to America’s standards would be a terrible song. It worked in the European countries because their taste in music is a lot different from over here. I think in many ways Europeans appreciate music in a larger variety and perspetive, not just your typical catagory of musicians which you hear over and over again on US radio. Sometimes radio can be very boring here in America. Getting back to your question though, it was the song that introduced Marie and Per to many of the countries overseas. They should put it on their ROXBOX only because it introduces Marie and Per as musicians and not technically a band. If you remember Per had concerns that Marie would not take Roxette seriously.
