“endorsing the murder of political figures”
noones doing anything of the sort. It is fiction

Oooooooooooh, noooooo!! Poor Zapatero ;)
Obviously, killing any prime minister is not the solution. Anyway, if Bush had died after chocking with that famous biscuit, the world would be now a much better place. No doubt about it :s

“Wouldn’t bother me in the least.” Now, THAT is compassion, true respect for a fellow human being, a genuinely civilized, intelligent and reasonable attitude.

Poor man, come on...
But all in all, wherever it is, if this happens I think it’s a sign that the political system in there is not working right. So I wouldn’t like that it would happen but in a few spots of the world that I don’t think they’re leading their people on a good track. I mean, I wouldn’t care that much if that Iranian guy dies... Or some obscure African dictator. But in the western and democratic world, I prefer political battles to be fought thru votes, not bullets.
And well, we’ve seen that even populists (whatever that means) with obscure intentions like Berlusconi can be defeated democratically, even if they will never believe it (how many times did they have to count? :D). So there’s hope to get rid of the main parasites :P
Other parasites will come and take the place ;)

An American political commentator has posited, well fine, with this new Bush movie, what if someone made a film about former President Bill Clinton being kidnapped by jihad terrorists and having his head cut off. Many might say, “I wouldn’t have a problem with that.”
We have entered the nuttiest time in the entire history of civilization, thanks to our worldwide communications abilities.

I do not think I would be terribly impressed if a moviemaker created a film about the assassination of our Prime Minister, “Stephen Harper”. Even if it is a “sophisticated piece of work”, what are the so-called “good intentions” behind this movie?
.....and yes, although I certainly do not agree with Mr. Harper on every issue, for example, I’d love to see our men pull out of Afghanistan - enough of them have died! , it would certainly disturb me greatly if our PM was murdered.

Oldag75 if your country can make money on films (entertainment films ) based on real life events , 9/11
Than a world of fiction shouldnt cause so much up roar thats the scary thing. US goverment think they rule everyone and forget we rule them!
coyboyusa said on September 4, 2006 17:10:
rox k very few people here liked the idea of the 911 movie so don’t speak for all of us
LittleSpooky said on September 4, 2006 18:41:
Coy: He wasn’t saying that everyone liked the idea. He was saying that money was made, plain and simple. There are people who still paid $7.00+ to see United 93 and World Trade Centre. I’ve seen both and didn’t pay a penny. No one bought tickets for me either.
roxing-doctor said on September 9, 2006 20:46:

Thanks to the US Constitution, political assassination in the US is a null factor; the rules for peaceful succession are clearly spelled out, and they have always functioned as intended. Which means that anyone who kills a US public official is either a lunatic or an ignorant criminal (or both) – and will not truly effect political change. After Kennedy was killed, the US had a new president within 30 minutes and, in reality, life went on as before... and, pretty much guaranteed that successor Lyndon Johnson would win the next election, keeping the Kennedy programs going.
It’s only in dictatorships that assassination truly causes upheaval.... typically replacing one tyrant with another.

Oh well, how is then that when I think of political assassinations Olof Palme and Anna Lindh come to my mind?
LittleSpooky said on September 10, 2006 02:24:
Dunno Santi. My mind usually tries to go blank when the discussion of politics comes round because it’s like religion:
Everyone has an opinion on it, and believe that they are right and you’re wrong.
roxing-doctor said on September 10, 2006 08:41:
i just hate killing innocent people like olaf palme and anna lindh
but they are not presidents so it is not the same it’s different but still WRONG KILLING PEOPLE
