tevensso why close war thread down ?
rox-kuryliw said on July 18, 2006 21:03:
i didnt see no reason for it, no one was being horrid to anyone? no argueing ? iv been on alot worse topics where people are abusive to others and nothing is done ?
maybe if people talk about wars and not hide from them and face the problems and discuss things we could all understand abit more ? no ?

you might have forgotten what happens when people here start to discuss US vs world/muslims topic, but we haven’t, it always ends up with people insulting eachother, Coyboy already started, Oldag didn’t stay so far away just that he is more subtle about it.. ;)
LittleSpooky said on July 19, 2006 07:03:
Just to throw some useless in here:
I’m from the US and I’ll tell ya what, this administration’s so corrupt it’s not even funny. People like Coyboy and Oldag will believe ANY snow job this government will give them because the either don’t want to wake up and realize that the “all mighty US” ain’t that mighty, they’re so brain-washed it’s not even funny, or their too damn scared to ask the questions that need to be asked.
I’m startin to ask... and I’m not liking the answers.
tevensso (moderator) said on July 19, 2006 09:13:
Like Judith says, you guys just can’t handle it. Granted, the thread was OK now, but I’ve seen it happen before.
miss-misery said on July 19, 2006 11:56:
Hmmm, it is as if anyone is afraid of people discussing politics here... I didn’t see enough reasons to close the topic. But maybe Tevensso knows better than me what usually happens here when talking about this, so it’s alright.
From my point of view, this is a problem of fanatism. Fanatics on one side and on the other. It is as if the Occidental world is so civilised... and we don’t realise what we have done in the past in Asia, America or Africa...
In my humble opinion, George Bush is just a poor ignorant obsessed with religion and his own view of the world (he talks about evil axes as if he was talking about Star Wars!!) The problem is that he’s got power, lots of power. And there’s nothing more dangerous than a powerful ignorant.... And it makes me really scared.

lol a preventative strike tev? thats ok its nice to see hwo you will censorship peoples opinions i was just stating facts not flaming people. And no offense I am not some ignornat automoaton who just agrees with everything I am fed. Look around you spooky. You;re one of the paranoid peole that see plots all around you. While you sit back and criticize all the peopel out there defending your ability to type in a forum or protest your government. Like i said its not very clear now but it will be in the near future just how big the muslim threat is....
Jud (moderator) said on July 19, 2006 18:36:
how many times do we have to tell that censorship is only done by governments :D we moderate the forum, not more, no less - unless you think this is a virtual country called Roxetteland or alike where Per is the president and Marie the queen - and we are the ministers :D :D
Debora said on July 19, 2006 19:35:
Moderate is one thing, and close a thread because there is a hot discussion is another.
We’re adults, or at least the most of us. I think sometimes we have to talk about more important things than: What’s your fave Roxette song? or Masturbation or things like that.
tevensso (moderator) said on July 19, 2006 19:38:
Yes I agree, but fact remains; you can’t handle it like adults. Sorry.
miss-misery said on July 19, 2006 22:11:
Ehem... tevensso, where did you see that??
Sorry, but I sitll don’t understand. I still think that someone’s afraid of people discussing politics. What a pity!
Jud (moderator) said on July 20, 2006 05:02:
search in the off-topic some years ago, this topic actually shows up once or twice yearly, and it always ends up the same. Prove you can discuss about politics without using insults or attacking eachother (which wasn’t the case in the closed topic), then we’ll think about it ;)

Judith, tevensso
I agree with you that typically we haven’t always handled every controversial discussion in an appropriate manner - especially discussions concerning politics and religion. I myself regret having lost my patience on several occasions because of some mean-spirited remarks. However, I also believe that it’s important for us to be able to have the opportunity have these sometimes difficult discussions to share our ideas, information and different perspectives with one another - it may help us to better understand our world and each other. Yes, I agree that it could certainly benefit our discussions if people demonstrated a little more respect and consideration, but; please give us a little bit of slack. I think this thread was closed just a little pre-maturely and others never had a chance to respond.
whateveriam said on July 31, 2006 21:10:
Guys, I respect your decision on this one. War debates always get out of hand. I mean, I watched an actual fistfight on one occasion after a debate turned nasty. I don’t want a verbal repeat on here.
GT_85 said on August 1, 2006 12:47:
Censorship on TDR? No way it is. This is a private website, with their own rules. Every time there is a politicla discussion it turns to hell in here.
This is a Roxette forum, please talk about roxette instead. I’m sure there are people in here who don’t like very fat people, tall people or homosexuals, heterosexuals or norwegians or something, but they keep that to themselfes, why do they do that? So that other people won’t get offended.
And btw, go isralel! ;)
Jud (moderator) said on August 2, 2006 04:39:
can we please leave Israel and Lebanon out of this topic? thanks!
whateveriam said on August 2, 2006 19:59:
Thats the problem with forums really-you say things on here that you wouldn’t dare say to anyones face...
I mean, if we were sitting round a table and talking about war, people would be more controlled and probably more neutral in their answers, cos they don’t want to appear in a negative way, or lose the good opinion of their peers. But this isn’t a table, we aren’t all face to face, so we think we can say what we like and hang the consequences. But then, they don’t like the response so it gets nastier and nastier until it gets completely out of control.
Thats my tuppence on this one, I’ll try not to say any more on the subject. I mean, most people are gonna go ’oh, its her again’ and ignore this. Never mind though.

I just thought you were trying to stop us returning to the War debate while on this board

Isn’t this Roxetteland then???
What a pity! ;)

Judith, tevenso
I take back my comment made earlier. You were right :) - I was wrong! I am humbly chastened. :)))
You’re right, some people on this forum cannot handle any additional slack.

I think if you look at certain people comments, you’ll have all the proof you need...

I agree with you. Talk is the only way, but sometimes we can’t...
