Per's muse

I konw we’ve discussed this subject before but I want to know if you agree with me in thinking that Marie has been Per’s muse or inspiration to write songs. tell me what you think

I don’t think so.. of course I guess he finds inspiration in things he experienced in his life, especially when he was younger.. but I’d rather say his wife inspired him much more than Marie actually..

Don’t know if the word muse fits here, but Per definitely has Marie in his mind when he writes for Roxette. Her way of singing inspired hime to write different songs than for himself. For example “Crash! Boom! Bang! was “taylormade for Marie”.

Yeah once again I agree with Sascha; Per most certainly wrote a couple of songs with the clear intention of Marie belting them out...! Marie’s got an amazing way of delivering a song... tracks that would never have worked otherwise; take for instance Dressed For Success - I can’t imagine ANYONE else pulling this song off... BTW for those who didn’t know this fact; Marie wasn’t really crazy over this track and was actually rather annoyed when she went into the studio to record this - however the energy she managed to put into this track due to rage (could it have been rage...?) took this track to a completely different level and managed to make it one of Roxette’s most memorable moments!!

Of course Per must have written many songs with the idea that they were meant for Marie to sing! ;)
But I thougth the question was meaning something different, I thought it was more referred to the lyrics..
Santi said on June 8, 2006 22:59:
I don’t think that “to write them for her to sing” means she is his “muse”.
Normally the muse is the receiver of a message codified in the song (or the lyrics, or just the music), not the means for the song to become real.

I asked this question beacuse I think that Marie was Per’s muse. That maybe through his lyrics he was sort of expressing hidden feelings for her. Hey, that’s what I think (don’t torch me) but I’ve been wrong before. That’s what I meant by “muse”.
Now that you konw exactly what I meant, tell me if you agree or not with me
denny said on June 9, 2006 01:34:
lol, I must say I agree, at least with a few songs... Like The Look for example hihi... Or some songs from POP... :P
But hey, I really don’t know much about their private lives. Most of you know a lot more so... that’s just a feeling I get.
Max-Tob said on June 9, 2006 06:39:
No. Don’t think that too. His muse must be Jo-Anna. haha. And he won’t talk about it.

@denny - I think people THINK they know a lot about their private lives, but I reckon there’s loads which people don’t know. It is PRIVATE after all!!

“No. Don’t think that too. His muse must be Jo-Anna. haha. And he won’t talk about it.”
I definitely agree with you!!;)
denny said on June 9, 2006 16:26:
@pwbbounce yup that was exactly my point, although I do think some of you know more than others. :) Well, as I’ve said I had a feeling... which might be wrong... or not :P I guess it depends on the good old one: I want to believe ;))) The bottom line is WE can NEVER know. And never will. And I’m guessing, since the chemistry between our two favorite stars is incredible, such topics will be present forever! :)

I wouldn’t say that Per’s writing lyrics had or has anythign to do with him thinking of Marie when he’s writing those lyrics. Musically, however, I know he does. There are different instrumentations, different effects, things that are so clearly meant for her to belt out, as she’s so awesome at doing. *drools* lol
Santi said on July 24, 2006 07:11:
But instruments and effects are music production, not composition. And lately Roxette’s production has been depending on Marie also, as well as on Per, Clarence and the other guy, whoever he was :D
miss-misery said on July 24, 2006 11:32:
Don’t look any further... I’m Per’s muse!! LOL
(obviously, I was just joking)
I think that we’re discussing two different things here. One thing is that Per is writing the songs thinking about Marie singing them (because I guess he writes in a different way when it’s him who’s singing solo or in GT, or when he’s singing with Helena) and another thing is the source of his inspiration, which I guess it might differ depending on the times, the circumstances... And I guess production goes afterwards.

It should be Asa, I think. As well as his imagination... And we should not forget Jo-Anna, of course! Marie & Per just have fun working together (and we all know the quality of the results), I seriously doubt anything more.

Its the woman in white... How many songs does he refer to one? Quite a few (Dreaming by GT pops up in the brain, but there are a few Rox ones...)
denny said on October 18, 2006 23:15:
That’s funny, cause everytime I hear Dreaming by GT, I think of Marie in that little white dress... :P
Max-Tob said on October 18, 2006 23:19:
you girls have a fixation with marie. let the guy dream of whoever he wants to!!!!!! give him some space, i think it’s really annoying for per to read the same stories over and over again. it’s so way of. jesus.

never crossed my mind, no.
