När kärleken fods

What do you make of this?
Apparently, a Swedish singer named Shirley Clamp has recorded a a Swedish version of It must have been love, called När kärleken fods. I just heard it on RixFM and I was wondering what you think of it. Does anybody know if it’s old or new? I didn’t particularly like it, because she tends to put too much vibrato into her singing, which makes her sound rather sheepish. But if you’re into that kind of thing…. So, what do you think?

I absolutely hate these so called “cover versions” that aren’t even proper translations. När kärleken föds means “When love is born”...that’s not even close to IMHBL! They just take the tune and write a completely different song. I heard a bunch of them in Sweden and it would take me a minute to realise the original song. Like there’s one terrible cover of “Can you feel the love tonight” that’s been translated to “Feel a scent of love”, and an even worse one of “Total eclipse of the heart.” I don’t know why they even bother, just write a new song!

The lyrics actually follow IMHBL rather closely.

thanks for posting the video Tobben! Man, she’s a troll! I expected some hot Swedish blond, but instead....
I agree with tevensso, the lyrics are quite similar... but still it sucks... big time.

I think she got the feeling of the song very well!! the song is damn difficult to sing, and Marie’s singing can’t be beat, but she made an excellent cover :)

Well here’s the lyrics of NKF, but some parts are missing. My friend have made it but he nor do I understand what she sings in those parts. Can you help me?
I was looking for this lyrics, but I couldn’t find anywhere... :/
/När kärleken föds/
/Har den inget namn/
En varsam viskning i mitt öra
Det gör mörkret mindre kallt
Men jag vaknar ensam
Och möts av tystnad
I mitt sovrum
Och överallt
Var är du?
Jag blundar hårt
Kom rör mej nu
När kärleken föds
Har den inget namn
När kärleken dör
Vet du vad som försvann
När kärleken föds
Har den inget namn
Men vi hade den här
Tills du släppte min hand
Låtsas ännu
att du finns här
Dina hjärtslag ger mej skydd
Men jag ser frosten
I dina fotspår
Åh som en gåta
Aldrig tydd
Var är du?
Det är kallt
Kom värm mej nu
När kärleken föds
Har den inget namn
Men jag vet att jag fann den
Samma stund den försvann
När kärleken föds
Har den inget namn
Den följer ebb och flod
Flyger med vinden
När kärleken föds
Har den inget namn
När kärleken dör
Vet du vad som försvann
När kärleken föds
Har den inget namn
Men vi hade den här
Tills du släppte min hand

@ tomos85
You’re an ABBA fan too? Don’t suppose you know Gabriel from Poland, do you? I met him in Holland 2 weeks ago :)
Cool to see ABBA fans here on TDR.

”...yes, I like THEM...” as Agnetha would say :-) Gabriel is good friend of mine, so I can say that I KNOW HIM SO WELL :D I’ve seen some pictures from Holland and I must admit that it was very enjoyable!
And, yes, he wrote down this lyrics. I’m not so good at Swedish, at least not yet.
Apropos, anyone knows how to fill those gaps?

This cover is not bad at all. I even like it a little bit although I usually hate covers.
I really wonder what it would sound like if Marie sung the song with these lyrics...
Sparvogamarie said on May 7, 2006 04:23:
The verses are similar to the original but the chorus is totally changed. It’s ok I guess, but I never was a big fan of Shirley Clamp. Would be interesting if Rox used it though!

But none wants to fill those gaps and help me :P I know what this song is about, but me and my friend cannot regonise what she sings in some parts...

I have the feeling that we’ve had this topic before but I just can’t find it. Maybe I am wrong than...
