Delta Goodrem - Together We Are One (Comm. Games)
RobS said on March 18, 2006 22:44:
Did anyone see Delta Goodrem’s performance of “Together We Are One” at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.
I think it’s a great song. One of them songs that I know that I like the first time hear it.
Trying to find a recording somewhere.

Sorry, missed that one. I walked out of the room when she appeared. Can’t stand her.

I read in the paper today that they are releasing the single in April

God, I so can’t stand that woman! I used to like her but what her boyfriend Brian and herself did to Brian’s ex-wife Kerry was just a disgrace!!!
RobS said on March 29, 2006 07:56:
I don’t really care what she gets up to with her personal life.
She’s got some good songs, that’s all that matters to me :-)
eBay said on March 29, 2006 07:59:
Yeah, but if the person she had an afair with joins her for a love song and is also included in the video, it’s another story. Why mix your personal life with your music? What she did in Ireland was just horrible.. of course I don’t just blame her, Brian is just as much to blame..
shannyn77 said on March 29, 2006 08:39:
What did she do in Ireland? From everything Delta has said her and Brian got together after he and Kerry broke up and I have heard Kerry in interviews say she wishes them well....anyhow it’s hard to deny she is enormously talented and beautiful
eBay said on March 29, 2006 10:29:
Well, what happened in Ireland is that Brian McFadden left Westlife, saying that he wanted to spend more time with his wife and kids and focus on his solo career. He then brought out his first solo song called “Real to me”, which reached the top spot at the UK single charts. The lyrics of the chorus are:
When I see my babies run,
When all the madness has been and gone,
I’ll raise my family and live in peace
Now that’s what’s real to me
He gave everybody the impression that his family was what mattered to him the most. But as the song was still flying high in the charts, he was spotted with Delta and rumors started that they were an item. They denied everything. Then Brian and Delta released a duet here in Ireland and the UK called “Almost Here”, which also became a massive hit here. The lyrics of that chorus are:
But when I need you
You’re almost here
And I know that’s
Not enough
But when I’m with you
I’m close to tears
Cause you’re only almost here
They never stopped denying that they were an item until one night, Brian and Delta performed the song together on TV. Before their performance, they were asked about the rumors again and still they denied it. They went backstage to prepare for the song and when they came out on stage, Delta suddenly wore an engagement ring! After they denied it for the last time, moments later they got engaged backstage and performed the song as a newly engaged couple!
Kerry was extremely heart broken and people here believe that she still is and will never get over Brian. Of course this might seem like a dumb-ass publicity stunt, but how come Kerry finds it so very difficult to talk about how everything happened and even refuses to comment on it?
Brian and Delta, who once were so loved here, have really lost the good reputation they once had.
Understandable, isn’t it?

I guess so - I don’t really know the full story - Almost Here is a great song! Everyone here loves Delta so its probably a patriotic thing but I know she felt awful about being looked at as the marriage wrecker - and believe me I can imagine it would be awful to have your husband leave u and take up with someone else - but I guess we never know the full story do we?
eBay said on March 29, 2006 10:39:
Yeah, very true, we will never know the full story. So I take it that Delta is Australian then? I never knew.. *blushes slightly*
ragdoll said on March 29, 2006 10:44:
oh please stop moralizing! Have you never done something you’re ashaned of ebay? Have you never broken someone’s heart?
eBay said on March 29, 2006 10:56:
I am not moralizing at all and I never said that my sheet is totally clean.. but to include your lies in your music and make it public to improve record sales is a bit cheap in my opinion..
ragdoll said on March 29, 2006 11:10:
ok. so...when the beatles sang “we all live in a yellow submarine”...did they actually LIVE in a yellow submarine? Ya reckon???
What I am saying is, not everything a singer sings about is about his/her own life. I am sure that when Brian wrote that song, the words were true. It is not a case of writing a song one day and recording it the next. These things take time. Just as amatter of interest...can I ask how old you are ebay?
ragdoll said on March 29, 2006 11:12:
in case you haven’t guessed...I LIKE Delta. So she;s human ...welcome to the human race. Things happen ebay, that’s life.
eBay said on March 29, 2006 11:41:
Of course I know that we are not supposed to take every lyric of every song literal, the point I made was that I did not agree with that they actually wrote the songs including the truth or misleading people / fans.
I am 26 years old. Why?
ragdoll said on March 29, 2006 11:56:

You don’t agree with them writing songs?
How did they mislead people when they were writing those songs? If you mean the one about Brian and his family, I’m sure, as I mentioned above, that Brian meant those words WHEN HE WROTE THEM, which was before he fell in love with Delta.
Think back on some of the love letter you have written in the past. Didn’t you mean all of that AT THE TIME even though you may not be in love with that person anymore. When you told this person you love them, were you misleading them?
The other issue is that of course it takes a lowlife to lie and cheat to the person they are married to, whether they are famous or not.
eBay said on March 29, 2006 12:28:
Of course I do not disagree with them, or anyone for that matter, writing songs.. lol
I do take your point though that, in this case, Brian would have meant what he wrote at the time he wrote it.
ragdoll said on March 29, 2006 12:41:
so...can I tempt you back into listening to these songs and enjoying them??? Can I? ? Come on, you know you want to..LOL
eBay said on March 29, 2006 12:45:
Ha ha.. well I never owned any of the songs. But at that time they were being played non-stop on TV and Radio alike. I must say, I thought the songs were / are actually quite good. I actually do own Delta’s first album and quite enjoyed that too. Never bought her second album though.. Is it any good? As good as the first or better? What makes the second album different to the first?
ragdoll said on March 29, 2006 12:56:
you know, I either like something or I don’t like it. I can never give reasons. I like Delta’s 2nd album. Why? I just do!!
Someone with a bit more eloquence and intelligence that I possess can help ebay out here!

i stopped liking her after all that press about her and him from that boyband, it seemed all to fake to me and made up and they did nothing apart when in england, i was like if you liked her you had to like him, and i cant stand the bloke. did my head in.
shannyn77 said on March 30, 2006 00:24:
I personally liked her first album a whole lot - of course the 2nd album was probably more deep and related a lot to her cancer battle - but the first one was great and she is really just truly talented!!
RobS said on March 30, 2006 08:25:
Wow, this thread’s almost come full circle :-p
I don’t have any of her albums, but i loved all of the singles she released from her first album, except ’Born to Try’. Never got into that one.
I never really liked her single releases from her second album.
Now if she ever releases a GH album, chances are i’d grab that.
shannyn77 said on March 30, 2006 09:04:
Yeah - I didn’t buy her second album - I just wasn’t keen on the songs she released all that much - unlike Innocent Eyes - I would definitely go see her play live if I had the opportunity though
shannyn77 said on March 20, 2006 00:35:
Yes - she was awesome - so beautiful too
