Hogmanay

Help required here.
I told my friends back in March that I would be having a Hogmanay (Scottish) themed New Years Eve party this new years. I forgot all about it (as usual) and was reminded last night. Friends said that they haven’t made any other arrangements, and asked me if the party was going ahead. Not wanting to let them down I said yes it was. I have absolutly no idea what to do for this now.
Does anyone know what sort of things happen at Hogmanay which I can do at the party? It’s gotta be done in doors though.
Any suggestions appreciated!!!

Then again, just get ’em over, provide lots of booze...should be enough, no?

Well, since they thought that I was aware, they have arranged costumes etc. so that parts okay, it’s just what to do at the party.
Yes, alcohol will be involved though...

Do you have a tall, dark, handsome man who can be your first foot after midnight? Let them know that when you visit someone at new year you are supposed to brng them a gift and you will get loads of pressies. You could also do some ceilidh dancing, but that would be pretty hard in a small place, without the right music, and if you didnt know any of the dances. Otherwise, just get drunk, thats what most scottish people do anyway....you could always make up a playlist of some scottish bands for some of the night if you wanted.

Ally: Do you really want to give these people sharp impliments AFTER THEY’VE BEEN DRINKING?? I can see some poor sod as a pin cushion...

I did read about First Foot, and I have passed on the information to people coming! You can never have too many presents!! Thanks for all the input guys. Should be a laugh. Think I’m just gonna supply people with alcohol, and do Auld Lang Syne at midnight.

How funny was the party! Seemed to go well (from what I can remember). Only one bad thing - I dropped my camera down the toilet.... I have NO idea why the camera was in the bathroom, but never mind! I didn’t find it until the moming, so that’s well and truly wrecked.

PS My last camera died when I fell in a muddy river in Norfolk! Oh, happy days...

Took the camera to the shop yesterday - the bloke laughed and said there was no chance of it getting repaired :-( I’d only had it a couple of months too!
