Room_service said on October 9, 2005 07:09:
In addition, it was the B-side for “Spending My Time” and “Vulnerable” (both on 7” and CD-single).
Speedo said on October 9, 2005 11:02:
it’s one of my alltime favourites, just like come back (before you leave) :)
don’t know why these weren’t included on Joyride

A long time ago Per gave this song to the german singer Thomas Anders, which is beside Dieter Bohlen the other half of Modern Talking. He released it as a singel and it floped. No surprise cos it sounds awfull!
Room_service said on October 9, 2005 17:07:
Thomas Anders’ version is one of the most awful Roxette covers I ever heard. I prefer the version by Laura Branigan. Anyway, nothing beats the Roxette’s original version. That’s the best!!!
Superbullie said on October 9, 2005 22:17:
has anyone the thomas anders version? or can you give me a link to it, cause i have never heard it.
thanx
Hotblooded said on October 11, 2005 00:54:
Does anyone have the Laura Branigan version? I have always wanted to hear it.
harriej said on October 11, 2005 20:11:
That wasn’t one of Per’s brightest moments then, if he gave it to a Modern Talking guy.
Then you know already that it will be a flop before it is released.
EmEx said on October 12, 2005 00:13:
i dont get it.... why didnt they release that song?
they probably thought it would ruine their image even though it would have only got them increased sale and stardom!
RobS said on October 12, 2005 10:40:
Harriej, I don’t know why you would think that Per didn’t think it was one of his better songs. I can’t say i’ve ever seen one bad thing said about TSHTSG.

I still don’t understand why such a beatiful song was left aside. One of the Roxette mysteries indeed.

I just pulled out a selection cd 10 minutes ago and I’m at Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye! As soon as I clicked on this page it came up. How weird is that?
Rox-Van said on October 29, 2005 06:08:
up’s...
does anybody want this song, sent it to him by e-mail?
bbrox said on November 11, 2005 17:08:
This song is one of the most timeless songs Per wrote ever. You can hear it today and you believe it was recorded yesterday. Marie´s voice is crawling into you... and I like the main melody a lot..
rox-kuryliw said on November 11, 2005 23:29:
id love this to be re-recorded by roxette and release for the 20 aniver .
eltarm said on December 13, 2005 23:35:
I have Laura Branigan’s version of “Sweet Hello, Sad Goodbye”. It’s great, too! Actually it sounds very much like Marie’s version but with electric guitar in the bridge (instead of piano in Marie’s version).
denny said on December 14, 2005 00:27:
Eltarm, if it’s possible for you to give me the link where can I download it, or to send me by email I would appretiate it. I would like to hear Laura’s version. Thanks.
sandyam said on December 14, 2005 11:23:
The song was released on a promocd single
for Swedish radiostations. Just to thank them for all the support over the years.
I am still looking for it. With 6 stars the item can be described as very rare.
rox-kuryliw said on December 14, 2005 11:42:
Laura Branigan’s version of Sweet Hello, Sad Goodbye, is not as good as marie’s, the production is better on laura’s version, but vocals far better on roxette’s version.
eltarm said on December 14, 2005 20:28:
Hi, Denny. I promise to give you the link if you share your thoughts after listening to Laura’s version? Will you? :)

for anyone that hasent seen it i asked Per on SOAP site:
Question:
Why was “the Sweet Hello the Sad Goodbye” left out of the
Joyride album?
Answer:
there wasn’t any space left, i regret this today. i think it
should have replaced physical fascination.
denny said on December 16, 2005 03:28:
rox-kuryliw, I totaly agree!! :)
@eltarm, I promiss I’ll comment as soon as I get my friend to download it for me :/ hope it won’t take ages...
Thank you!
Room_service said on December 16, 2005 07:17:
No way, Physical Fascination is the worst track in Joyride. It should be replaced by TSH, TSG!
denny said on December 16, 2005 18:38:
I love Physical Fascination! Actually the worse song for me is Perfect Day. But Small Talk is no special either. BUT they are all still better than some songs from CBB, HAND and RS. :/
But never mind, opinions, opinions...
denny said on December 16, 2005 20:39:
Eltarm, I got it, I got it!! :)
Hm, let’s see the reactions...
I don’t like the snare (I’m not sure about the spelling but I guess you know what I mean) in this version....
I so don’t like the way Laura sings it :/ I mean, I like Laura Branigan but the way she sings this song is.... Hm... I really don’t like it.
It’s so flat... without emotions. And it’s better when both male and female are singing.
Well, there... those are my first impressions.
Thank you very much again. :) I was really very interested how it sounds.
*edit* I also remembered - I miss the piano.
Room_service said on December 16, 2005 21:11:
Thomas Anders’ version is even WORSE than Laura’s! It sucks!
fbr_ said on December 17, 2005 00:28:
by the way i don’t think per “GAVE” the song to thomas anders. anyone can record a coverversion, as long as you don’t use samples you only need the publisher’s permission.
IV_ROX said on December 17, 2005 16:24:
Isn’t there a Jason Donovan version of that song as well? Pls, correct me if I’m wrong.
Hate Laura’s cover, though. Flat, emotionless as someone already said.
Rox On!
RobS said on December 17, 2005 22:23:
I have to agree with the flat and emotionless comment. I don’t really like the music on her version either.
Yeah he did one as well, it’s just about as good as the Laura Branigan version.
gessle-addict said on October 9, 2005 04:19:
It’s a song recorded for the Joyride album, but finally was left aside. Then it has been released as a b-side to the I don’t remember what single from that album. In 1995 it’s been released in the “Rarities” compilation in Asia & South America. It’s a song which everybody loves.
