Eurythmics - I've Got Life (new single)

i was VERY suprised to read today that the great
Eurythmics will be releasing a new single next month called - ’I’ve Got Life’, IM SO LOOKING forward to it. Hope they make a killer vid, hope its uptempo synth driven and great.
rox-kuryliw said on September 15, 2005 16:33:
i thought there last album was great , although not what i expected from the,. Power to the meek , i want it all , should of been the singles off that album by far.
LaMan said on September 15, 2005 20:44:
I like “Don´t Ask Me Why” and “Miracle Of Love”.
——————————————————–
a new Greatest Hits! Why???
MiracleMan said on September 15, 2005 23:02:
Was It Just Another Love Affair will be the second new, album-only track.
Peace was definitely a more mature release that reflected where they were in thier lives at that point. Power To The Meek should have been a single, also Lifted. Some great work on the album.
I wouldn’t expect a synth-driven anything from them. It’s not really their style anymore. I’d assume something more along the lines of the last effort or Annie’s last album.
Exciting to hear there’s new material, but I am also a little disappointed that it’s to be part of a new Greatest Hits package. I’m sure I’ll buy it. I hope this means that the long awaited rerelease of all the albums+buonus tracks will aciually be come true. I know it’s been planned for years, but so far nothing.

i have never heard this new song, but i hope it is as beautifull as “i saved the world today”
MiracleMan said on September 22, 2005 22:02:
(Hi-PM—missed seeing your purpleness too.)
It’s the band itself. I’m hoping they include a few live versions of songs. I’d love to hear Missionary Man as it was performed on the Peacetour. That Delta blues-infused version is just incredible.
And as much as I didn’t care that much for (Love You Like A) Ball & Chain on Be Yourself Tonight, the rework that was included on Live 83-98 and especially the way they performed it (at least when it opened the medly of Ball, Would I Lie, & Sisters Are Doin’ It) just kicks.
And no, I don’t think Peace had a lot of weak tracks. I Want It All is too Stonesish for my tastes, but I thoroughlly enjoy the maturity and the consistent feel of the album. Is it my favorite? I’d rank the albums this way (for the most part):
Savage
Revenge
Peace
1984
Live
We Too Are One
Be Yourself Tonight
Sweet Dreams
Touch
In the Garden

I soooooo adore SAavage tooo, but Be Yourself and We Too do give it a run for its money......bugger it, I love ’em all. I do think Peace is the weakest of their albums - Peace Is Just A Word tho is one of their finest moments. Also adore Power To The Meek.....an ballsy rokker. God bless D’N’A!

Great song, CAN’T WAIT to hear the full version.
You can hear it on (third track played) for about a week.

Also Kate Bush’s excellent new King Of The Mountain gets a spin fairly early in the show (#6 on the playlist).

i love the over of the new single ! VEry them, love the suits and ties, Dont like the new album cover , thats not how i remember the eurythmics (liked the greatest hits cover best). Dont think they should of had a pic of front. Its like when roxette did TPH TBH ? people remember them is different styles for me its HAND so they didnt use a pic of them on front.
rox-kuryliw said on October 7, 2005 11:53:
i cant wait to see the video , a modern take of one there most popular videos.
Massive said on October 7, 2005 14:43:
I think it’s a good thing that they have chosen an older picture for their Ultimate Collection cd. Eurythmics will be remembered as a groundbreaking synth band, not as rock n’ rollers a la Revenge (even though that is an excellent album as well). The cover for I’ve Got a Life also refers to the synth-era. The new single also marks a new electroinfluenced restart. Hopefully they will record a new studio album next year. That would be great.
rox-kuryliw said on October 7, 2005 15:48:
ye i do agree, but i think they were so many eurythmics high lights , be yourself tonight for me. It is also a striking image aswell. I just think its narrows there image down to one thing, id say thats impossible to do seeing as touch & we too are one both went to num 1 ! 2 different images and eras you have there ! i was to young to remember touch myself.
Massive said on October 7, 2005 20:55:
Alright, I see your point. Eurythmics did a lot of different stuff. Everything from the experimential “In the garden” to the more straight forward “Revenge”. But I think that 50 years from now “Sweet dreams” will still be the Eurythmics anthem. But as you point out, Eurythmics represents an unusual wide repertoar. There are not a lot of bands that do that these days. Just pray that Annie and Dave will continue together - they still have so much to give!
rox-kuryliw said on October 7, 2005 22:07:

Coy you have a point but i don’t think that Alanis is your average musician hence the compilation that’s planned won’t be including your obvious single releases... I’m actually rather pleased with the line up of the CD and should be quite a nice edition to someone’s CD collection that liked Alanis’ radio tracks but who are also curious about her other projects. She’s an incredably flexable artist having crossed many genre’s in herr 10 year international career and therefor I believe she deserves to be able to reflect musically on it.

the interview was ace altho she was quite self-deprecating, which I thought was very admirable, if not unbelievable, lol.....she feels she doesn’t have the greatest voice in the world. Very humble. I get shivers listenin to her sometimes, especially songs like The Gift and Something So Right. It was encouraging to hear her being so optimisitic about the new single and Eurythmics work in the future. Perhaps all this time apart has rejuvenated her interest in the group. The are godlike!

Right now Eurythmics single is on the A-list at Radio 2 which means that the song receives about 20 plays a week.
This weekend there was an interview with Dave Stewart in the swedish paper Göteborgs-Posten (23/10-2005). Dave Stewart was at Deepak Chopras center in San Diego doing interviews and discussing the new Eurythmics album. Amongst other things he told the reporter that he had a wish to spend one week in total silence. He also said that he wanted to go to a country he’s never been in and explore that specific culture and the people living there.
SunKing said on October 25, 2005 21:58:
From contactmusic.com
ANNIE LENNOX is refusing to tour on the back of a new EURYTHMICS greatest hits compilation because she hated hitting the road with STING last year (04).
The LOVE IS A STRANGER singer has turned down big-money offers to hit the road again with on/off partner DAVE STEWART because she hates the idea of touring.
She says, “I get all anxious and I can’t calm down. And to do the 54 dates I did with Sting, it was mad.
“I don’t really know why I did it. I thought I misread the amount of dates.”

But who knows, sometimes people actually change their mind. In that radio interview the other week Annie didn’t sound so pessimistic about touring with Eurythmics. I think it depends on how huge The Ultimate Collection will be and if they plan to continue together as Eurythmics. I guess it’s not too exciting to go on a tour with a pile of old material even if it’s classics. I hope they stick together and record a new album in “I’ve Got a Life”-style.
MiracleMan said on October 26, 2005 23:47:
It IS a great song. Then there’s the rumoured Best of from Annie. . . which I’d hope would include Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye and the like.
I’d love to see them in concert. When they toured in 2000 or thereabouts, they only played three or four US dates. But if all we get is new material without a tour (a few appearences here and there) I’d be alright with it.

What a great performance from Eurythmics at the Parkinson show - really liked the new arrangement of “There must be an angel....”, Dave’s guitar solo was absolutely fantastic. Now it’s only a couple of hours before the release of The Ultimate Collection!
realsuga said on November 6, 2005 19:01:
I met Annie & Dave today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the TOTP recording this afternoon and they were the first act on - was there @ the v. front, singing and clapping away like a girl @ a Westlife concert. Annie sang live! too.......she was soooo nice after and autographed one of my ULtimate Collection Postcards! Also met Sugababes and Anastacia.....Sharon Osbourne was there along with Il Divo....gr8 day out!
SunKing said on November 6, 2005 19:08:
I wish I had been there too. Did they play “I’ve got a life”?
Anyway more great news coming in. The Ultimate Collection will be the record of the week at the Ken Bruce show Radio 2 (BBC). Annie will also drop by for an exclusive interview.

Bought “Fresh Mud” (Dave’s project with Mudbone) yesterday at iTunes. Can really recommend it!
MiracleMan said on November 12, 2005 16:01:
I haven’t bought anything Dave has done solo-wise since DS & The Spiritual Cowboys.
SunKing said on November 12, 2005 16:20:
Well, in my opinion Dave’s solo work is fantastic.
My recommendations
Vegas (with Terry Hall) - Listen to the beautiful track “Walk into the wind”.
Dave Stewart - Greetings from the gutter
Dave Stewart - Sly Fi (especially the tune “Jack of all trades” which I consider to be his masterpiece)
Dave and Candy Dulfer - Cookies fortune (soundtrack)
Dave and Mick Jagger - Alfie (soundtrack)
Dave and Deepak Chopra - Grow Younger, Live Younger
Massive said on November 12, 2005 17:11:
yah, Heart of stone is a classic and so is Lily was here. Dave’s a cool guy!
MiracleMan said on November 12, 2005 18:07:
I do have Greetings rom the Gutter! Forgot. Never—rarely listen to anything from it. Jealousy, maybe, but otherwise a hard sell for me.
I think I remember that album was released the same day as Medusa.
SunKing said on November 13, 2005 20:04:
Eurythmics Ultimate Collection at number 5 today at the UK ALBUM CHART - Congratulations!
realsuga said on November 14, 2005 08:31:
well pleased that album got to No5 considering last G Hits was biggest selling album in 1991, and there’s only a couple of different trax on this one! It sold 8 million, the last G Hits. IGAL sensational and they were on TOTP last nigte performing it....you see me in the front row boogying away to it! Annie and Dave were so nice when we met afterwards. A definite highlight for me and IGAL just makes me feel SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!
If any1 like Eurythmics they’ve just released a Remasters boxset of all their original studio album remastered, repackaged with 44 new songs....all in a gorgeous presentation box. Mine’s been shipped to me but it’s out in the shops today!:-))))
SunKing said on November 15, 2005 18:43:
Eurythmics will play at the The UK Hall of Fame performing Sweet dreams and I’ve got a life.

Got the remasters box set (listenin to Touch as I tyoe). Gr8 stuff!
MiracleMan said on November 17, 2005 05:11:
I’m waiting until the box set is available to order. Amazon says it’s next week, pushed back from this last Tuesday. I’m hoping it’s not one of those that keeps getting pushed back and never gets here. If that becomes the case, I’ll order through UK or Canada if they have it.
SunKing said on November 17, 2005 17:59:
Wasn’t that a good set from Eurythmics last night. Loved the I’ve Got a Life intro to the Missionary Man tune. Magic!

Only 829 :- (swedish) and no delivery cost for orders over 600.
MiracleMan said on November 20, 2005 04:42:
AMAZON.COM is trying to scam us in the states:
I started out today on the US site as it was only $99, but they wanted to tack on some sort of procurement fee of $50, bringing the total to around $150!?
I ordered it from the UK site, and even with the £4ish for S&H (since I live outside of the UK) it only came to about $94. Can’t wait.
realsuga said on November 20, 2005 10:45:
@Miracleman.....you will LOVE the boxset.......all the new pix, additional trax.....the box itself is lavish. I am constantly opening the cds and looking @ the pix. Savage is sensational from sound to booklet.
You will notice a BIG difference in Peace.....a lot of alterations in some trax....one song actually is more uptempo, some backing vocals removed from another.....but all in all an AWESOME boxset from one of the best bands EVER (FACT!:-))))
There’s a bit of a brouhaha on a Eurythmics messageboard which I’m a member of about amazon.com’s pricing etc so you’re wise not to buy thru them. Hope u enjoy it when you get it! Worth every cent!
Massive said on November 20, 2005 20:04:
Tomorrow Eurythmics will perform at the Jay Leno show. If you’re in Sweden you can see the program one week after, (28 of november), channel 5.

Eurythmcs will be performing live at The American Music Awards Tuesday night.
There was also a rumor about Charlie Rose on PBS. He interviewed Annie for Bare in 2003. Nothing on the website as yet.

i saw the whloe video today on vh1, and honestly anything off of peace was better, and i didnt liek peace much, this song has no descent hook n the lyrics are blah, it wont go anywhere in the states

Coyboy: I think you just dislike some things just to be contrary.
coyboyusa said on November 26, 2005 13:25:
sometimes i do but i am a pretty big eurythmics fan myself and i don’t like this song at all, dave has really lost his ability to prodouce catchy songs, he ruined sinead o’connors last album and well he tanked peace and well i got life i dunno, hand it over to annies prodoucers and put it on a solo album andit would be great but as a eurythmics track its mediocre
SunKing said on November 27, 2005 09:47:
In my opinion Sineads album was great, loved Daves production; “Jealous” what a fine song! And the new Eurythmics single is on my top 5 greatest Eurythmics tracks ever.
Massive said on November 27, 2005 12:47:
Daves Alfie soudtrack (with M. Jagger) was one of the best records of 2004. He’s fantastic. And I truly love IGAL!

coyboyusa said on December 23, 2005 18:09:
where is the album itself on billboard just out of curiosity no stations here on the east coast seem to be playing the song vh1 dropped the video from main rotation the week after they premiered it too
SunKing said on December 23, 2005 22:00:
Is that a fact? In that case it’s a shame... Anyway the Ultimate collection is still at top 20 in the UK and “IGAL” is played quite regularly at BBC Radio 2.
realsuga said on September 15, 2005 10:47:
yeah I read it today on Remembertheeighties.com. So xciting! Also there’s a new Retrospective CD out in Nov with 2 new trax - this being one of them! Am actually watching Annie’s Live In Central Park DVD as I type!
