Why complaining? Just some statistics!

I always read those comments that we have to wait so long for new Roxette-stuff and always the rumours that they would stop there musical career.
Roxette released 7 albums in 19 years, so the average is one album in less then three years.
This is not really bad compared to other artists!
Especially if you think that most bands split after there third our fourth album!

But now let’s have a look on Gessle’s statistics and only count the albums (not including best-of & compilation-stuff):

1980: Gyllene Tider
1981: Moderna Tider
1982: Puls
1983: Per Gessle
1984: The Heartland Cafe
1985: Scener
1986: Pearls of Passion
1988: Look Sharp
1991: Joyride
1992: Tourism
1994: Crash Boom Bang
1996: The Lonely Boys
1997: The World Accotding to Gessle
1999: Have A Nice Day
2001: Room Service
2003: Mazarin
2004: Finn 5 Fel
2005: SOAP

18 albums in 25 years is an average time of less than 1,5 years between two albums. Per’s longest “break” was 3 years between Look Sharp! and Joyride (ironically that’s the time where Roxette were most active and popular). So, at least if you are a Gessle-Fan, there is really no reason to complain about waiting too long for new albums!

So the next album-project in which Gessle will be involved (after SOAP) can be expected in spring 2007. Maybe a Roxette-Album?

derrrr roxette isnt just per , some people do like marie voice with pers songs , thats why roxette works and is missed so much !

think they was such a break after LS cos they did SO much touring around the world , so may seem like break but i think they worked non stop then.

Well, so lets look at it from a Marie-perspective:

1982: Barn som barn
1984: Het vind
1986: Den sjunde vågen
1986: Pearls of Passion
1987: Efter stormen
1988: Look Sharp
1991: Joyride
1992: Den ständiga resan
1992: Tourism
1994: Crash Boom Bang
1996: I en tid som vår
1999: Have A Nice Day
2001: Room Service
2004: The Change

and that’s without all her other numerous collaborations... 14 albums in 22 year, just over 1,5 years taken for one album.

So hope they’ll be in time with their next album! :)

@Lennon: nice way of predicting new Rox album,....I agree.

lol

can you give some statistics on the sales of each record?

I’m not. I see that as a great list of accomplishments.

Yeah, and imagine all the singles in between ;)

And don’t forget the various Greatest Hits compilations... and Baladas en espanol. *shudder*
