For Shania Twain, UP! means DOWN!

10 replies

Hi Folks!

I know that this issue is kinda out-of-date, but, I would like to list 4 reasons for Shania Twain being a “media-forgotten” since UP! release (at least in my country):

1) Wrong choices for single releases (mine would be: 1º: Up!, 2º: Forever And For Always, 3º: Nah!, and 4º: I Ain’t Goin’ Down - this one, a real masterpiece, in my opinion);

2) Releasing 2 CD’s in one pack: this increased the CD price a lot! Maybe that’s the reason why the record co. released a second edition of that album here in Brazil, only with the first CD;

3) Shania’s voice got worse, compared to “Come On Over” CD;

4)The songs got too much pop, they lost that “country” thing...

... but, despite of everything, I STILL LOVE SHANIA TWAIN!

And how about you, guys, do you agree with that list?

I think that her voice is still impeccable! I prefer Up! to Come On Over and think that the 2 cds for counrty and pop versions was a great idea! The price of the album wasn’t that much different to me!

I think Forever and For Always , Thank You , Kaching and Gonna Getcha were great ideas for singles, but then again, most of the album tracks could have been - I would have liked It Only hurts and She’s not just a pretty face - but she can’t release ’em all cab she?

Well done Shania and release another studio album soon ! :-)

I haven´t bought any of her records, but i prefer the singles off “Come On Over”, her comeback with “Up” its like a bad copie of “Come On Over”

Red Disc - Pop versions;

Blue Disc - “Indian” versions (“arabic” versions);

Both were released at the same CD pack...

Green versions From Shania’s website (at the time of UP! release) - Country versions.

Never been into her music....

the singles were ok some of the videos weren’t i dont knwo why they ever let her put out party for 2 its the worse thing she’s ever made even though having both mark mcgrath and billy currington in the videos for the pop and country versions were quite stimulating if you know what i mean

Up! was such a disappointment compared to the previous 2 albums. She’s a sensational live! artist but Up! just sounded like meaningless karaoke......I can’t listen to the album @ all......such a shame cos I really rated Shania,.....and even the new trax on her G Hits album are weak. No doubt I’ll still support hew next cd but stuff like TDIMM, MIFLAW, If You’re Not IN It For Love....can’t be beat.......but if she has one exclamation mark in a song title on her next cd, I’ll kill her, LOL.....

I’ll do that too!!!

In my opinion the blue-disc is crap. I listened to it only once. These versions of the songs sound so strange, they don´t fit them. only the blue versions of “in my car” and “C´est la vie” sound quite ok to me. But the red-disc is cool.

In my opinion, the best music from the blue disc is “She’s Not Just A Pretty Face”. Actually, I think that it is better than the red disc version...

she has a new song on the desperate housewives soundtrack called shoes
