Judith, I just discovered that you seems to be a fan of Eva Dahlgren too - so don’t forget to also have a look at this crazy item that I have listed there:

I saw that one, but I don’t pay so much for an item.. never :O
Nothing against you, if people want to pay that much, good for you :D but I have some kind of rule.. never pay more than 30 euro for an item, and for that price the item has to be extremely rare ;)
per_mson said on August 30, 2005 22:42:
No matter how much I would die to have those two records I would never bid as much as the bid is now!!! 8-| People seem to have too much money!! I mean you can get quite an ok car(!!!!) for 14.000 SEK!!! ;)
Where on earth have you found those records Jan?!?! I mean that someone can find ONE such extreme rarity could maybe be.. but TWO!!!
Room_service said on August 30, 2005 23:10:
Something I can’t understand. It started in 1 SEK and it reached the price of 7000SEK in just one bid. How is that possible?
By the way, it looks like a large piece of bubblegum. I don’t know why they pressed just one copy in that colour. What’s the point of that?
pjred said on August 31, 2005 05:14:
Well, let’s just say that the pressing plant don’t run by itself - people do actually work there, and sometimes they do funny things... ;-). I got both items from the same source. It’s hard to know why they pressed those items at all - it could be anything from a planned birthday gift for the company boss to just some spare time at the shift and too much creativity.
It was just a lucky shot, one of those findings that happens just one time in 20 years or something like that.
About the bidding - as I put a “reserve price”, the bidding will show as exactly placed until the “reserve price” is met. That’s why the bid could jump up to SEK 7000 at once.
And, yes, I also think that some people seems to have too much money to handle. But, I’m not one of them so I’m just happy if the items sells at high prices :-).

Jud (moderator) said on August 31, 2005 06:20:
as long as the things are real :P
Not blaming you or implying you are lying and they are fake or something.. , but I think nobody every heard of these items before. I’m sure that if I’d ask, not even Eva would know about the yellow one :D
per_mson said on August 31, 2005 06:59:
Well, I must at least congratulate you Jan for finding those things and bringing them out in the daylight! I also hope you will earn a lot of money on them! :-)))
I on the other hand would most definetly spend those money on something more useful (like a trip to a tropical country) if I had that much money just like that. So I guess I am not such a hardcore collector as I thought I was, hihihi! ;-)))
pjred said on August 31, 2005 07:00:
Well, how could the public know of them before - they are most likely made in 1 copy/each, and they have been stored for years by someone obviously not involved in collecting or dealing with records.
Judith, now Eva perhaps know about the yellow LP - but she still don’t know of two more similar items that I haven’t presented yet ;-).
/Jan
Jud (moderator) said on August 31, 2005 07:11:
Now Robban has something to add to the book - but 10 stars won’t be enough for this ;)
hehe, what are you keeping in the closet? :P I will email Eva about these items :)
ally77 said on August 31, 2005 14:05:
It’s great people bidding such high prices... but in all honesty are they gonna pay up!!!!!
Did I mention I have a great green copy of the Joyride LP, it’s amazing what someone can do with a spray can of paint!
ally77 said on August 31, 2005 14:07:
and also I agree with who mention the bid, how did it go from 2000 to 7000 SEK when the same person has bid, and the same for 7000 to 7500 then the same bidder 9000! Something is wrong there....
pjred said on August 31, 2005 16:08:
Nothing is wrong, ally77, this is how the bidding works until someone is reaching my “reserve price”. If my “reserve price” is met, then the auction will work as a normal one - with the leading bid going up only if someone else is trying to bid higher.
I think Tradera is working somewhat different than eBay when it comes to “reserve price” auctions, that’s why it may look strange in the “bidding history”.
/Jan
Room_service said on August 31, 2005 19:10:
LOL, I imagine your “reserve price” is very high. 9000 SEK and was not met yet. Sorry to say this, dude, but I think you won’t sell those things... Too much. And it’s not a Marilyn Monroe jewel, it’s just a piece of vinyl.
pjred said on August 31, 2005 19:56:
You didn’t read the auction description properly - I will consider selling the items to the winning bidder even if the reserve price is not met. So, they will most likely be sold anyway ;-).
It’s about a lot of money, but there’s several rarities in the world of collecting that gets those prices - and more. A similar rarity by U2 for instance would probably cost you at least 3 times that much...
/Jan
ally77 said on August 31, 2005 20:41:
Fair enough did not know there was a reserve, missed that bit!
If I win the lottery tonight, I’ll buy them both of you! :) and then I’ll give them to Per to display in Leif’s Lounge!
Susi said on September 1, 2005 11:30:
These records look cool, I think...
... but I wonder how “official” these records really are. For example, if they were now made by an employee who thought it was fun to fiddle around, can they be really counted as an official record?
Of course, we’ll never know for sure how and why they were made but it would be fun to hear what you think of it all...
ally77 said on September 1, 2005 19:55:
I do like the Pink Vinyl it’s really growing on me and would look so good framed... dare I blew some savings....
ally77 said on September 1, 2005 20:12:
Ted, has a nice idea.... :) and I was serious about the giving them to Per or it to Per for Leif’s Lounge!
Room_service said on September 1, 2005 20:51:
If Per wants those vinyls, he can easily buy them. I wouldn’t spend so much money in a present for Per. He’s richer than all of us... We have to bought everything, even the cheapest CD-single with our own money, and now you are going to spend 9000 SEK (about 1200 US dollars) in a present for him??? NO WAY. Per, my best wishes but I wouldn’t spend that money. You had my part before, when I bought the records!
ally77 said on September 1, 2005 21:27:
It would not be a present.... like I’d give them away, no I said it would be nice to see them on display in Leif’s Lounge... as say a loan...
Anyway I earn my money, and I think I am wise enough to spend it however...
Jud (moderator) said on September 2, 2005 05:55:
I think that if Per would be interested in them.. he’d buy them himself, surely he knows how this works ;)
ally77 said on September 2, 2005 06:52:
But you got to admit they are very nice....
I’ve look again this morning, that pink vinyl is sooooooooooo pretty....
per_mson said on September 2, 2005 06:54:
@ally: They are nice, but how real are they really?! See “Susi”’s comment above? She do have a point there I think!
pjred said on September 2, 2005 07:54:
There are several possibilites why items like this exists:
One employee had too much spare time, and too much creativity.
The company’s or factory’s boss (or some other important person) is having a birthday or something like that, and the employees (or the company itself) want to give him/her something nice.
The company was planning to release a limited edition on colour vinyl, and made a testpressing to see what it looks like. (I have such a “coloured vinyl testpressing” item by Depeche Mode myself, and this was actually the reason in this case)
There were discs pressed by another artist before they runned the pressings by Roxette/Marie, and those were pressed on coloured vinyl. There were some coloured vinyl left in the machine, so instead of clearing the machine first they changed the pressing mould first and ran the first copy/copies on what’s left in the machine (this explanation is actually the one I’ve heard in most cases - if it’s true or not is a different story).
Well, those are some of the possibilites why they were made.
There exists similar rarities by for instance Bowie, T.Rex, U2, Depeche Mode, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley and many others, and the discussions have always come to the conclusion that it can’t be denied that the discs are pressed on the actual pressing plant, and therefore shall be considered “official”.
/Jan
Room_service said on September 2, 2005 08:17:
Official or not, I wouldn’t waste such a fortune in a piece of vinyl. I see some people is trying to get rich easily... I won’t help in this.
Anyway, does it worth so much money because it’s pink? That’s all? Just suppose you get it. You can look at the disc for a few seconds, maybe minutes. After that, you get tired of it, and you’ll put that one on the shelf, with the other LP’s. So much money just for that? I bet nobody would play it, because the songs on it are pretty commons and not rare. That’s not the point here.
I wouldn’t spend that amount of money just to impress other fans. Some fans use to do that: spending large amounts of money in stuff to impress the others. That’s disgusting...
ally77 said on September 2, 2005 12:59:
@ Room_service, what’s disgusting.... or are you saying someone cannot spend there money how they see fit....
I see I was outbid and it has now reached the reserved price....
ermmmmmmmmmmm still tempted!
per_mson said on September 2, 2005 15:16:
I wonder who this “Gachyzz” is! Maybe it is Per himself?! ;-)))
I thought you had sold a big part of your collection Ally?! So I thought you weren’t that tempted to buy stuff anymore?! :)
ally77 said on September 2, 2005 16:03:
I sold a lot of my collection off, and I don’t really collect now, but I do see this item as an investment for MY future, if I win this then I am guessing in around another 20 years it could sell for a lot more than it is now.... nice pennies for when I am old.....
I am always so keen to buy things now and save them for the future! I recently sold a Barbie doll I bought for around £6 in the 80’s which was still boxed etc, with the receipt and I just sold it for £150 to a guy in the USA! :) Nice profit for me!
purplemedusa said on September 9, 2005 10:35:
I’m sorry; before i take out THAt amount of money I want a WRITTEN & SIGNED letter by Rolf Nygren that this was indeed pressed by EMI SW. HONESTLY, what are the chances that the same guy has 2 of these rare items? How much will it cost for the average person to press an LP these days....?
EDIT: it seems he’s got more than two - a fluke? Loads of money? No life other than secondhand stores/vinyl? It’s all possible, but this sure does smell fishy in here!
pjred said on September 9, 2005 12:29:
Ah, the conspiracy comment - what would a forum discussion be without it ;-)!
Perhaps it would be easier for some people to accept the fact that these items do exist if I make a short introduction of myself. My name is Jan Forsberg, live in Sweden, and is collecting and dealing with collectable records. I concentrated heavily on Roxette about 10-15 years ago (not so much nowadays though) and I’ve had a lot of the rare items in stock from time to time (I helped Robert a bit in the beginning of his work with “The Look for Roxette, that’s why I’m mentioned on page 11 ;-)).
I know what’s rare, I know what’s real and I’m an honest guy. That makes comments like yours, purplemedusa, somewhat disturbing but I also know that some things that seems to be unbelievable needs time to get accepted ;-).
/Jan
purplemedusa said on September 9, 2005 12:44:
Fair enough, u have the benifit of my doubt; personally I just find buying this record ’risky’ as there are only claims & no proof... and for THAT amount of money i’d expect some sort of proof, to say the least!
And just a side note; this qoute really suprised me, “...UNIQUE opportunity for any collector of Roxette to get something for the collection that no-one else has - or can get!” So is this what record collecting is all about...?
pjred said on September 9, 2005 13:13:
”...UNIQUE opportunity for any collector of Roxette to get something for the collection that no-one else has - or can get!”
It’s true, so what’s surprising? If an item is unique, do you mean that it shouldn’t be mentioned? Do you mean that I, as a seller, aren’t allowed to advertise the item properly?
ADDITION: About what “record collecting” is about, I think most of collectors have somewhat different goals and possibilites. I guess it’s very personal - it can be anything from what comes in your way at the local flee market to real hunting expeditions ;-).
/Jan
purplemedusa said on September 9, 2005 13:33:
I understand what you are saying but it seems we are on two different planets; I don’t regret challenging your claims but I wish you the best with the selling of these items.
Room_service said on September 9, 2005 23:12:
All this discussion about this stupid matter is just bullshit... Who cares about that f*****g vinyl?
Jan or whatever your name is, you can keep your stupid vinyl. I see you wanna gain easy money...
sandyam said on September 10, 2005 06:55:
That the highest bidder is someone with zero feedback makes me a little suspicous.
Let’s see if this person pays up...
pjred said on September 10, 2005 09:30:
I wasn’t happy about the zero feedbacker; but as the auction site is constructed there’s no way to delete such bidders. Anyway, if it won’t be sold to that bidder there’s always others who will so let’s see what happens.
Oh, by the way, Room service, look up what “Jante-lag” is - you seems to be heavily infected ;-).
per_mson said on September 10, 2005 15:15:
@room service: What is your problem?!?!?!?!??! If you are so uninterested, why are you reading this thread?!?!?!?!?!
ally77 said on September 10, 2005 20:24:
@ pjred, thanx for the offer, but with the news of the Per album yesterday I think I’d better hang onto to pennies for the possible tour! :) I am sure you’ll understand....
purplemedusa said on September 11, 2005 05:36:
Hehe i’m savin for that double vinyl album!! *jumps around*
pjred said on September 12, 2005 18:36:
Well, as the highest bid for both items was placed by some clown (as suspected) the items are still unsold. But, at least you collectors know that they exist now ;-). If someone is seriously interested in buying them, please contact me for further discussions.
