When the rain comes, they ...

Yesterday we were at the U2 concert in Munich. I think this was the best show I have ever seen. Once between two songs Bono sang (something like this) “When the rain comes, they... they might as well be there; when the rain comes.”

If I remember right, this were exactly the same lyrics as Marie sang at some Crash!Boom!Bang! concerts (during “Joyride”). At least I have a recording from Stuttgart 1994 where she sang that part.

Does anyone know the story behind those lyrics? Is there a complete song available?

Thanks for your help.

I guess it’s about an old Beatles song..

The Beatles - Rain

If the rain comes they run and hide their heads
They might as well be dead
If the rain comes, if the rain comes

When the sun shines they slip into the shade
(When the sun shines down)
And drink their lemonade
(When the sun shines down)
When the sun shines, when the sun shines

Rain, I don’t mind
Shine, the weather’s fine

I can show you that when it starts to rain
(When the rain comes down)
Everything’s the same
(When the rain comes down)
I can show you, I can show you

Rain, I don’t mind
Shine, the weather’s fine

Can you hear me, that when it rains and shines
(When it rains and shines)
It’s just a state of mind?
(When it rains and shines)
Can you hear me, can you hear me?

Don’t know why they sang it, though..

Thank you Kiwein1!
I think you’re right because the lyrics are really the same.

Another interesting thing is that Anton Corbijn was taking pictures during the first couple of songs.

This picture reminds me of the stage during the Room Service Tour.

Anton Corbijn is always taking pictures of U2, he is something like the official photgrapher of them! :O
Has even released a book called “U2 and I: The Photographs 1982 - 2004” recently. He invented U2 public image.
