Camping tomorrow!

So excited! I’m going camping for 3 nights tomorrow.

Not very far away though. I’m going to Herm, a lovely little island 3 miles away from Guernsey. It really is lovely to. Have a look on www.herm-island.com

I know it’s not as glam as staying in hotels, but it’s so much fun.

Plan of action for the 4 days is drinking and sunbathing. Hopefully it’ll stop raining by tomorrow though.... Or else it won’t be so much fun!!

Have fun! :)

Careful with the drink and sunbathing... don’t want to have too much and wind up with sun stroke or something....

Thanks for the advice LS. Wasn’t planning on doing both at the same time though!

Well, what a fun weekend!! Apart from the very heavy rain over night. Got very sunburnt today, SOB.

Oh man! :o(

Is it just very red? Or does it look like you’ve turned into a side of cooked bacon?

The reason I ask is because one year, I’d gone to a waterpark in North Carolina with some cousins. What started out as a bad First Degree burn (red) turned into a Second Degree burn (brown, black, quite a bit of discharge and VERY UNCOMFORTABLE). My dad never took me to get checked out on that. Just don’t wanna see you in the same misery I was.

ever heard of suncream?? I really never understood how people can burn themselves under the sun like that... it’s not even funny!

I’ve been going to the beach with my parents for the first 18-20 years of my life, including 2-hour walks with my mum, we had a swimmingpool (still there but empty, cheaper to use the pool in the village) where I spent most of the summer, I’ve gone to amusement parks in summer, etc etc etc and I never ever got sun burned. The maximum I got was a sliiiight red skin the first day of sunbathing, which was gone the next day after a night with aftersun cream.

I’ve seen friends who, on the other hand, got badly burned.. just because “oh, the sun is not so much shinning, no need to use cream” or “we are under the umbrella anyway”.. and they come back home not being able to carry the bag hanging on their back because of the pain.. *sigh*

enjoy it

Jude: Mine had worn off after a few hours (we were there almost from opening to close). These “water proof go all day” sunscreens weren’t popular in the late 80s, or were EXPENSIVE as all hell. I was also in the water for 99% of the time too. And I was 12 then kinda my dad’s RESPONSIBILITY to make sure his child was okay when all indications pointed to second degree burns after the fact. NEVER saw a doctor. I found out how bad they were several YEARS after the fact... (this happened in 86, I disovered how bad it was in 89 / 90 after I’d returned home to my custodial parent, my mom).

I was not attacking you, it was a general comment :P Many times (nowadays) I hear “oh I got burnt” damn, use the cream! and put it on more than once a day :) Anyway, I guess I’m kinda “experienced” in this because my parents were extra careful with this and put cream on us every now and then (which made us complain when we were kids, of course, yes, also in the 80ies ;)). Even now these waterproof creams don’t work 100%, at least I always put a bit of cream on again after having a bath.. and use higher factors than I should need :)

Jude: Never said you were... just taking pot shots at my dad.

I love him

I love him to be far away (too bad he’s in the same state) *chuckles*

and I would like my parents to be closer :/

time to go to work!

Jude: If I could trade yas, I would.

FYI I did have suncream on, but still got burnt. It was a SPF25 too, so not sure what happened!!

It’s turned brown today though
