Coke addiction
TinyBubbles said on July 18, 2005 13:01:
Dont laugh ok, but i really am very addicted to Coca-Cola. Have been all my life i think. And i am fedup and ready to give up but find it impossible. Ask my friends and they’ll say i’m one of the people with the most willpower they know, yet when it comes to cola i just cant stop! The longest i’ve ever gone without coke is just under a month.
My mom once told of a guy who drank so much coke the coca cola company sponsored him. Free Coke for life!! People are always joking that i shud get sponsored.
My problem isn’t actually the amount i drink but that i absolutely have to have it every single day. I have it before breakfast first thing for crying out loud. I dont even like the taste of coke anymore!! I drink it and wonder why the hell i am. Its like i’m being forced to drink it. I much prefer the taste of lemonade. But i dont ever feel the need to drink lemonade. Cant understand what it is about coke that i find so addictive?!?! I actually really do get withdrawel symptoms believe it or not.
I want to quit :’( I have had enough:( I’m fedup FEDUPPP.
purplemedusa said on July 18, 2005 14:11:
Oh it’s VERY widespread actually! Needless to say that it’s far from healthy... all that sugar it contains should be enough reason to lay off the brown gassy water!!
Urm thought this thread was actually about the drug... well personally i’ve been so tempted to try it on numerous occassions however i know i’ll enjoy it way to much so i’m seering clear from the lines... rather crack open a tin of coke instead!
BTW why is it that coke in tins are so much better than from the plasitic/glass bottles?
tevensso (moderator) said on July 18, 2005 17:02:
You couldn’t be more wrong Purple! Glass Coke rewls all!! :)
And comparing steaks with stomachs doesn’t really cut it. Try putting the steak in ketchup and the same thing happens.
StillFar said on July 18, 2005 17:13:
I think you got me wrong. My comparison was between coke and lemonade. You put a steak in those two liquids, you will see very different results. Never compared the stomach to a steak.
I wouldn’t recommend ketchup either ;)
LaMan said on July 18, 2005 17:27:
me too Tiny but drinks like that with a LOT of sugar is of course unhealthy and makes me feel TIRED.
Have you ever noticed (tasted) the difference of Coke and Pepsi? I would not I suppose. Both are very good.
Jud (moderator) said on July 18, 2005 20:10:
I used to drink Coke twice-three times a week but two years ago I had something with my stomach (not sure what, nobody knows I think) and since then any drink with gas makes me sick. Funny how, nothing happens with beer, I guess it is the added gas that makes me sick.
ally77 said on July 18, 2005 20:47:
I am drinking coke now.... in fact I have been drinking it all day....
steven said on July 18, 2005 21:23:
Try putting a dirty old penny (or other small coin) in a small saucer of coke and see what happens after a day.
Da Daaaa! Shinny new penny.
@ ncurran: Iron Bru and vodka rocks! :)
ncurran said on July 18, 2005 21:31:
Steven, I prefer it the day after drinking vodka. The best hangover cure ever!
Anarem said on July 19, 2005 00:47:
I’m more of a Pepsi person. But what I love best are Ginger Beer and Root Beer. Yee hah!
Roxette-atic said on July 19, 2005 02:56:
I have it too!! Coke-light..and I drink it eeeveryday. Not good for the teeths.
tevensso (moderator) said on July 19, 2005 08:15:
I had the new Coke Lime in New York, but we dont’ have it here in Sweden! Waaaaaaaaah!!!! It was XLNT!
TinyBubbles said on July 19, 2005 12:33:
Aah sheesh Stillfar..my uncle already tried that with me. Didnt work :( So Cheers :D
Coke in glass and plastic taste better actually. And i’m not addicted to caffeine cuz i am not addicted to anything else with caffeine.
I like pepsi, but i am not addicted to it at all!! It is just coke. Regular or diet - doesn’t matter. And i just dont get it. Arrrrghhhh. My stomach and teeth are begging me to stop.
rox-kuryliw said on July 19, 2005 12:51:
i cant drink fizzy drinks , hurts my stomach has since i was a kid ! ! !
pwbbounce (moderator) said on July 19, 2005 13:00:
@ncurran & steve - Vodka & Irn Bru is very cool. You can get some ready-made stuff which is made locally here in bottles. Don’t think it’s proper Irn Bru, but it still tastes the same.
Also a big fan of Vodka & Red Bull (especially doubles!!!)
TinyBubbles said on July 19, 2005 13:07:
Why what is wrong with Ketchup? What? What does it do?? Omg this is not good. Nottt good.
ally77 said on July 19, 2005 19:38:
Cherry coke it the best, and they do a diet version in the US... bring it here...
LittleSpooky said on July 20, 2005 08:07:
One suggestion that seems to have eluded everyone (including me):
Go talk to your physician. There’s something there that we are missing
purplemedusa said on July 20, 2005 09:18:
Instead of drinking it why not snort it? That’s sure to get u over the addiction!
tevensso (moderator) said on July 20, 2005 09:24:
To quote this guy who is the reason for being here: It hurts... :D
Kathrin said on July 20, 2005 20:41:
I love to drink Coca Cola but I#m only allowed to drink it on weekends and on very BIG PARTY NIGHTS Like B-DAYS or so!
roxtexanet said on July 23, 2005 20:31:
@Tiny: Had the same problem with coffee. It’s the caffeine, but the way your body responds to it has everything to do with the “vehicle” it’s in (I wasn’t addicted to cola, but if I didn’t get coffee by 11AM - watch out!). Try switching to the caffeine-free version (buy it in 2L bottles so that it doesn’t stay fizzy as long and you’ll be less tempted to keep drinking it) and eventually you’ll want to drink something less sweet and fizzy. Good luck!
ally77 said on March 5, 2006 07:28:
Diet Cherry Coke finally made it’s way to the UK!!!!!
@ PM, I agree Coke in cans taste way better than bottles...
LittleSpooky said on March 5, 2006 15:02:
Well yeah... you’re tasting the aluminum in the can.
I like Coke from the GLASS bottle... you don’t find that much no more.
FirstGirlOnTheMoon said on March 5, 2006 16:56:
I have a bit of a Coke-addiction too. I drink between 1 and 3 litres of the stuff a day for the past 8 or so years. I tried quitting it once and actually got withdrawal symptoms!! Headaches, shaky hands, that sort of thing.
But yeah, it is very unhealthy and I should really switch to something healthier...
LittleSpooky said on March 5, 2006 18:22:
Stick with one litre... I don’t know if they sell the 20oz. overseas or not, but they do here (smaller bottles). One of them or one litre.
ally77 said on March 5, 2006 19:02:
3 litres a day... jeez.... I tend to buy in 2 litre bottles but that lasts about 3 days!
LittleSpooky said on March 5, 2006 19:35:
Depending on my mood... I can actually go through 2 2-litre bottles of Coke / Mountain Dew / MD Code Red / Wild Cherry Pepsi.
Like right now... I’m a bit upset with my family for neglecting to tell me things (once again). And they wonder why I don’t have anything to do with them...??
zaine said on March 5, 2006 20:26:
wow, i get through a 2litre bottle that lasts me a WEEK!! sometimes even longer than that!
FirstGirlOnTheMoon said on March 6, 2006 05:46:
Here in SA they sell them in 500ml bottles. I go through about 3 of those at work and then I drink 2 or 3 glasses at home in the evening.
I should really try to switch to something healthier. And cheaper. It’s scary how much money I spend on Coke!!
LittleSpooky said on March 6, 2006 06:11:
Balance it with water (if it’s drinkable. Up here in Utah... there are a few places that I don’t DARE to drink the local water in O_O). Or some fruit juice (apple is pretty good in that category).
roxcyn said on March 20, 2006 06:27:
Hm, yea it is not that healthy. Have you all tried the Coke Zero? Very interesting.
Anyway, I try to drink very little, but my parents are big drinkers (my mom drinks at least six cans of Diet Dr. Pepper a day). So there is always some pop around.
I try to not drink too much because it is not good for your body
xarrrr said on March 20, 2006 10:05:
ooooooooooooooooh i love coke too!!!! i normally have at least 1 500ml bottle when i’m at work *mmm sugar rush!*
TinyBubbles said on March 20, 2006 10:57:
I like them 500ml bottles too. The plastic ones?
But it works out cheaper to buy 2-litre bottles. I still have about 2 litres a day. Cant live forever anyways...
shannyn77 said on March 21, 2006 02:15:
We have Coke Zero here in Aus - is it the same as Coke Light - its sugar free but soo much nicer than Diet Coke - tastes the same as normal Coke to me
LittleSpooky said on March 21, 2006 06:31:
Coke Zero v Diet Coke
Coke Zero tastes almost like “regular” Coke. It doesn’t contain NutraSweet (which in large amounts, causes cancer in laboratory rats. So I avoid it). Coke Zero dosen’t leave a crappy aftertaste.
shannyn77 said on March 21, 2006 10:13:
Yep, no after taste with Coke Zero - almost like the real thing - fab invention 4 dieters!!!!!!!!
xarrrr said on March 21, 2006 19:50:
LOL i remember TAB from when i lived in South Africa! cant find it here tho.... but yay for normal coke.... diet coke is just... hmmm....
ally77 said on March 21, 2006 20:11:
Yeah we can’t get TAB here in the UK now, but you can still buy it in Sweden!
Santi said on March 22, 2006 01:25:
The president of Bolivia said recently that Coca Cola Company imports coca (I mean coca leaves, you know, the plant...).
Do you think they still use it and could that explain why it is addictive?
ally77 said on June 24, 2006 11:54:
Coke Zero just came out in the UK....
Same as TAB which you can still get in Sweden....
It’s just so crap!
ally77 said on June 25, 2006 12:37:
I need to join the Coke addiction club, I just put another empty bottle in the recylcing bin... and it’s overflowing with empties.... oh dear....
Anyone know a good dentist... just in case my teeth fall out!
ally77 said on July 4, 2006 02:48:
I gave it, I passed a shop was dying for a drink last night and went for the coke... but it was diet! lol
RobS said on July 12, 2006 08:18:
Apart from a glass i had a few weeks ago, i can’t think of the last time i had a Coke.
whateveriam said on July 21, 2006 21:18:
Very dangerous, I have it on tap at work. I end up feeling sick if I have more than 1, and in the heat, I can’t have it at all, so I stick with soda water
TinyBubbles said on July 22, 2006 06:06:
Weird how this thread keeps popping up as some kinda wake up call mwhaha.
7 am this morning my mom was shouting at me “ananda!!! you are NOTTTTTT having that coke for breakfast, PUT it down!!!”
lol, and then i had the nerve to ask her to open it for me cuz the top was screwed on pretty tight..i got a slap on the head :S:S:S
btw.. what does it mean when your mom says to you : “blood crawls where water cant flow..” ??? :S:S
roxcyn said on July 23, 2006 08:22:
Most of those colas have phosphoric acid and that rots your teeth and it rots your body too. So try to drink diet rootbeer, or diet Sprite or something like that so you can avoid the phosphoric acid.
ally77 said on July 24, 2006 07:11:
I’ve not drunk it now for weeks.... not even diet coke... and you know I feel better for it!
ally77 said on July 24, 2006 17:04:
I spoke way to soon, I just ordered a bottle with my takeout.... grrrrrrrrr
ally77 said on July 25, 2006 22:47:
I could not drink it....
I’ll leave it to go flat then put it down the bog!
per_mson said on July 28, 2006 08:13:
Drinking diet coke almost every day. Maybe not good for me, but what else should I drink?! I get fed up with mineral water pretty quick and sugar drinks I just refuse to drink. Why pour in a lot of useless sugar when you don’t need it at all? Also beer I won’t drink more than max ones a week since that is a calorie-bomb as well.
Mari said on July 28, 2006 13:50:
I’m addicted Pepsi Max. I have to drink it every day. But the best cola drink is Dr. Pepper. Love it!
whateveriam said on July 28, 2006 18:20:
I agree-Dr Pepper is by far the better Coke. They don’t have it on tap at work though, so I have to bring it in, or buy bottles from the retail bit.
RobS said on July 29, 2006 00:37:
What do people like about Dr Pepper? i’ve had it once and never again.
Mari said on July 29, 2006 12:05:
I don’t like marzipan but I love Dr. Pepper :) It’s the cherry taste...
whateveriam said on July 29, 2006 16:18:
It does taste a bit like marzipan. It does taste slightly cherrified, but like a watered down version of Cherry Coke...
Maybe its a regional thing though, as Dr Pepper in other countries tastes different (despite what Coca Cola say). And, so does Coke itself - and we have tried this. We bought loads of foreign Coke from various places (Macedonia, Poland, Holland, etc) from our local pound shops, and did blind testing. They all taste different, even if the test was not scientifically accurate. I swear it, they all did!
Mari said on July 29, 2006 21:21:
whateveriam, you are right, Dr.Pepper tastes different on different countires. Actually, I don’t like at all Finnish Dr Pepper. I love US and Dutch Dr. Pepper. Thank god those Dr Pepper is selling also here, but they are kinda expensive.
whateveriam said on July 30, 2006 21:16:
Dutch Dr Pepper is indeed gorgeous, and ofr the record, Macedonian coke tastes very strange, and Polish Pepsi is underated! I’m drinking a can of it right now...
whateveriam said on August 24, 2006 18:15:
German Fanta Orange way better then ours
Moroccan Pepsi also very nice, after the first mouthful (like your brain gets numb to it)
Had some Sprite as well, from somewhere in the Arab nations (no idea where though). Tasted like toilet cleaner
Kathrin said on August 29, 2006 08:22:
Ever tried Coke Zero(the new Coca Cola Drink with no Sugar in it)
It tastes good!
Kathrin said on August 29, 2006 08:27:

Pour half a liter of coke in a glass bowl and put a steak in it. Just wait and see what it’s doing to the steak over a couple of days. Just to have some kind of comparison, you can do the same with lemonade in a second bowl.
If you are still convinced that your stomach should be filled with coke afterwards, all I can say is “cheers”!
