Iran.

what do people think about the new presidency in iran ? some fear return to Islamic Revolution strictures ? is this a way forward ? more seperation of the sexes ? reformers, who lost parliament in elections last year, had been hoping to retain some hand in government to preserve greater social freedoms they’ve been able to win, such as looser dress codes, more mixing between the sexes and openings to the West. will it lead to even more hate towards the west ? Is it right westerners have to be tolerant towards with iranians in the counties we live in but they can publicly criticis the western countries ? doesnt it work 2 ways ?
or does the west have to be better and show them how to live in unison ? thats what i think.
another thing to think about, were the women aloud to vote ? did there ’husbands/men’ let them vote. if they were would the results have gone the other way ? i love to see the percentage of women and men that voted.

I say ignore them. They obviously don’t want freedom so stop treating them with respect. Of course, don’t treat them with disrespect either, just ignore.

its none of our business really...if thats the leader they want then that is fine
rox-kuryliw said on June 27, 2005 19:51:
ncurran , ignore isnt a good idea if you ask me, i think the UN should keep a strong eye on this country as they really want nuclear weapons and they want power and to be considered powerful threat.
Do they want to help convice people the world that an islamic country can live in ’unison’ with the world ?? . (not)
They should be working towards peace with the world and talk things through. If the WORLD doesnt look in youll have another problem at hand. I hope im wrong and dont have to dig this disussion out when something bad with nuclear weapons happens ? everyone has ignored the problem in africa and zimbarwai , and look at it now ?

i saw a documentary once on the previous election and the death of the last big leader of iran, and his funeral was this mass of peopel shrouded in black people comign from everywhere, fundamentalist islam is a cult i don’t care what anyone else says, its disturbing that its the fastest growing religion in the world. It amazes me how man loves to take 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. Alot of sci-fi writes have predicted that the 3rd world war will arise out of the middle east, and when i see all these nutty fundamentalists running to build nukes u have to be very suspicious of their intentions. is mass murder or genocide out of their real of thought? no....look at what african muslims are doing in africa...sudan, rawanda, the congo! I may sound like an alarmist buy the last time the world sat on its complacnet ass we wound up with hitler, if we continue to do it we’re gonna end up with some murderous mullah whos only interest is annihilation of freedom and democracy

tevanesso I’m just so disspaointed in you ... I don’t think this is they way of talking about people .. ignoring anything wouldn’t just help to solve it!!
By the way, I see there are still some of you who don’t know if women can vote in Iran or not. YES they do. They can vote, they can live, they can drive, they can go to school, they can use internet, they can watch TV, and so very many things ... these are the answers to the mostly similar questions that I have asnwered during the past two years of living in Europe!
I just don’t understand how you people do not know anything and pretend to be the one with higher knowldeg ...
I do not believe in that eceltion as I do not believe in Islamic government which is currently ruling over Iran. But I do think that Iranian has got the right to have democracy and I think they are trying to gain it although it may take 100 years more! Nothing will come without spending time and enough effort. One thing that other can’t ever imagin about Iran is the economic problems in Iran. I’ve read somewhere in a magazin that 30 % of the total wealth in Iran belongs to 3 % of people. So perhaps you can imagin that people in this situation would think first about the economic problems than the democracy! and this is usualy in small town and villages around the country.
Ahmadinejad which was the hardliner candidate was following the policy to solve the internal economical problems first, and the other candidate which was a moderator (I still don’t think any of them would be eligable to be president) was intending to focus on political and external relations ...
Perhaps the so called WOLRD can help the country by being more open.
I don’t agree with 62 % of Iranian who voted on friday for Ahmadinejad BUT I can understand them.

aasso you can’t deny that irans virulent pursuit of nuclear arms under the guise of public power utilities is not scarey. Seeing how unstalbe the middle east is i don’t think any of them shoudl ahve their hands on a button attched to a nuke. and now it seems the newly elected president was involved in hostage taking?

”Iranian official has warned Europe and the United States against referring his country to the UN Security Council over the resumption of full operations at its uranium conversion plant. Iran must be a wonderful place, and its leaders terrific. After all, Mick Jagger has written NO lyrics whatever, criticizing anyone in Iran.
