Work - Evacuate!

Jesus I have seen everything now.... we all get asked to evacuate the building this afternoon about an hour ago because some generator is smoking in here, so all the staff on the first floor of the town hall have to leave..... baring in mind there are three floors of staff above us.

So we all sit outside in the sun having a laugh and a chat etc... and paramedics come to see if anyone has breathed in the smoke carbon monoxide as some of the staff nearest to it had and where taken to hospital....

The fire brigade do what they have to do, and security gives us the all clear to go back in, so we go through the main entrance where at this point there are about 60 customers queuing to get in....

The place stank and people where coughing, eyes where stinging and they wanted us to get back to work in the fumes.... Eventually the mangement try and tell us all is okay we can go back into work etc, but you can still see the smoke and smell it, so some of the staff start refusing to go back into work etc...

Then we get to go outside for another 20 minutes or so and then back to work....

So now we are still working in the fumes etc, and the staff are really unhappy that the management are putting the calls and public first... In fact they are not even thinking of the public, because letting them in is really a risk to there health, all it takes is one child or adult with breathing problems and there would be problems....

The best part, they did not even evacuate the other 3 floors above us.... I was under the impression smoke rises.... who’s bright idea was that!

We had an evacuation “test” once at the bank.. rather impressive to hear the speakers tell u to leave the building.. which takes 9 floors, almost 1000 people working there :S

We’re had 1 I think test since we where there! but this was so real, kind of weird to know some work friends where taken to the hospital...

would you have rather they did nothign liek on 911 alot of company managers told the employees to sit in their offices while the building was burning i would have honestly gone home

Personally if I’d been stuck in the TT on 9/11, I would have told my manager to kiss my a$$ and left the building... regardless!
