Lost Roxette Album
JimmyRoxer said on April 8, 2005 19:42:
I wonder if the deleted album that was recorded in Spain will be released as bonus material at some point? This was the album that was recorded but scrapped,”Have A Nice Day” was released instead. I know that Ghost In The House became “Ande in en flaska”. I’d love to hear the English version!! Other songs included “Loud Clothes” etc.. It would be great if this was released to quench us fan’s thirst until new material comes out!

@Animalkingdom
hmmmm, I think you are wrong there buddy. I definitely remember around the time they were recording in 1998 that they scrapped an entire album.
rox-kuryliw said on April 8, 2005 21:19:
wow i never , first time iv heard that news aswell LOL,
ok i got one for you aswell here goes hehe, Marie recorded ’The change part 2’ at same time as the first ’The change’ and its gonna be released this summer , and features ’remember’ and ’ Windchill’ and a song called ’faith’ to be lead lead single off that album this year. just teasing
tevensso (moderator) said on April 8, 2005 21:56:
I’m not preaching the gospel here, but the only scrapped album I’ve ever heard of (not even counting Modern Times) is the first version of Per’s “Scener”.
jobarth said on April 8, 2005 22:19:
I’ve read the following once in an interview with Per. I hope my memories are still correct.
...Roxette had finished their Have a nice day album and EMI was ready to release it. But then Per and Marie weren’t sure and stopped the release and revised the whole album. So some songs were kicked out and were replaced with some completely new songs. I don’t know exactly which songs it were, I think Anyone is one of the replaced songs. And I think EMI was a little bit angry about Roxette for the delay.
JimmyRoxer said on April 8, 2005 23:00:
@Jobarth
Thanks for not making me out to be an idiot like most people have. That interview was in a newsletter ages ago. Ok maybe it wasn’t the whole album, but a lot of it was scrapped. Do you guys not recall how long it took for the release of “Have A Nice Day”?
AURYTE said on April 9, 2005 06:50:
I’ve never known that Modern Times and Scener were scrapped. Does anybody know the reason for it?
rox-kuryliw said on April 9, 2005 09:04:
jimmy i was only messing, didnt mean to make you out an idot sorry.
joyrider said on April 9, 2005 10:26:
i guess we got some of those kicked out songs on room service already...
roxlad said on April 10, 2005 13:04:
I can confirm you all that the lost album was only released for the Atlantis market. I have a few spare copies :-)
colinvdbel (moderator) said on April 10, 2005 13:49:
Hmm, I thought they released a special edition for the island of Avalon, too :P :P :P
Jud (moderator) said on April 10, 2005 14:12:
so.. if HAND was the “replacement”, imagine how bad the lost album must have been! ;)
coyboyusa said on April 10, 2005 15:23:
the only album they ever scrapped was the 10 songs they demoed during the hand sessions. 2 of them were eventuallt recorded it hurts and center of the heart. as for the rumours of a scrapped second spanish album thats just rubbish there is a spanish version of ydum but they never released it
animalkingdom said on April 10, 2005 16:06:
@ Nick
I think I (and others as well) were right...They didn’t scrap an entire album like the original post suggested. Even the starter of the thread later added that.
In addition, which error(s) of mine do you aim at? Kylie? Your “Roxette is doomed” topic or whatever it was called...?
Lennon said on April 10, 2005 16:15:
I remember that they spoke of 19 (and in some interviews 20) HAND-Songs. They delayed the first version of the album, which was planned for autumn 1998, and started to record 4 new songs: “Crush on You”, “Anyone”, “I was so lucky” and “Stars”.
“Making Love to you”, “It Hurts”, “Little Miss Sorrow” and an unreleased version of “The Centre Of The Heart” were left out of HAND.
But I read something of 3 Marie-Songs recorded for HAND, but only two are on the final record. So I guess there is at least one recording (the missing Marie-Track) left, which might be not released on the Bonus-CDs from the Best-Of-Compilation because Marie had plans with it (just speculation).
Some of the HAND-Songs were recorded in spain, including those four that were taken out of the album. So maybe that’s the “true core” of this rumour.
roxlad said on April 10, 2005 17:42:
*lol* colinvdbel! You’re right and it came with a nice fold-out poster!

Hi I’ve got some videos from the Roxette HAND EPK that EMI germany briefly released online.
Per: “Well Basically, um, this album has been quite difficult to make because we decided to have a different team when we started out. We have a new engineer, new players in the band, ummm, so we scrapped a lot of songs because they didn’t really fit with the environment, basically. Also we weren’t really sure which direction the album was supposed to go, um, was it gonna be like a programmed album, was it gonna be a lot of live recordings in the studio, you know we wasn’t really sure. So um we tried things out, ah threw away lots of material, um and re-wrote songs and y’know started off, on and off, on and off. So I think we actually recorded ah twenty tracks, and winding up with 14 on the album.”
I’ve tried to transcript as Per spoke so any errors are intentional.
Cheers
Dave

I think we heard most of the “lost” tracks as TBH/TPH bonus songs, songs on RS and stolen Marie Demos. For example Det Som Var Nu and Bad Moon were written for Roxette.
coyboyusa said on April 12, 2005 00:39:
sascha is right :) it just makes you wonder then is there really enough demoed and missing material then for a box set? I am starting to think there isnt
Starrox said on April 12, 2005 19:04:
Didn’t Per once mention they hardly have any unreleased songs anymore? Or am I just imagining things?
purplemedusa said on April 12, 2005 19:07:
That’s bull****... there’s many songs registed on BMI that hasn’t seen the light of day yet!! Wonder if they’ll get a spot on the new solo album....

I guess there is the truth in Starrox statement cos Per once said that we, fans, heard all the material we were supposed to hear.
m-cvk said on April 13, 2005 07:43:
And don’t forget the songs ’Monster Hangover’, Myths (words: PG + music: MF) and ’Sweet thing’

@jobarth
“LIBERAME AMOR” was written by Per with other songwriters too.

Urm... Sweet thing; is it listed on BMI? Where did u hear about it?
Monster & Myth; no-one can be sure if they r actual completed songs ...
Starrox said on April 13, 2005 13:25:
So there are only seven songs we haven’t heard yet plus the Spanish version of YDUM registered at BMI, right? I don’t kow about you, but that’d qualify as “hardly any songs” in my book... ;-)
colinvdbel (moderator) said on April 13, 2005 14:14:
Sweet Thing is written by Per, and performed by a group called Sugar Bee.
coyboyusa said on April 13, 2005 14:39:
per co worte something with lou bega? Ok now i am suspicious of emi lol why on earth would he want to have his name associsated with that 1 hit snore? If i rember right benny and bjorn said they wrote several hundered songs that were neither demoed nor recorded during abbas heydey, nothign gaurantees that anything you see having published is sitting on some demo tape, and i really believe that the lack of any outstanding compilation other than repeated hits packages is an obvious indication of that
Starrox said on April 13, 2005 15:55:
Per didn’t co-write a song with them, they stole a part of Jefferson and were busted thanks to a thread here on TDR, remember?
http://www2.dailyroxette.com/smalltalk/thread.php/4295
http://www2.dailyroxette.com/article.php/1169
It’s not like Per _wanted_ to write with Lou Bega, they just had to give him the credit he deserves! ;-)
Zargo said on April 13, 2005 17:52:
@Starrox - ha ha thanks for the links! A few months before I became a Rox fan, so I never heard about any of that!
Lennon said on April 14, 2005 12:35:
But those unreleased songs might not all be produced tracks. Maybe these are only Demos or never recorded songs.
Nevertheless, I love Gessles Demo-Sound and would like to listen to them.
Should be time for the “Rox-Box” now, don’t you think :-)
HBrox said on April 14, 2005 17:00:
I had not idea that there was such a big number of unrealesed songs.... but most of them must be demos I guess....
Anyway with all that material we must have something new from roxette this year... Please Per and Marie.. do not forget about us!
I think Marie is still waiting to get back to her natural look before her illness.... must be hard for her to be affront of the people and to apear in new videos with everyone asking: my God! what happened to her???... and explaining everything all over again....
We love you guys!
AntiMario said on April 14, 2005 17:17:
“Rainclouds” was released by BlackJack as “Minnen”. Not bad either :)
animalkingdom said on April 8, 2005 19:49:
What on earth is this...?
I highly doubt that they scrapped an entire album and then recorded “Have a Nice Day” instead. Sounds insane...Those songs you mentioned just didn’t make the cut - or even the studio - I believe.
