today, in los40 radio station web there is an article (in spanish) about the new Marie CD. The Chance is going to be released in Spain next January 31st

http://www.los40.com/articulo.html?xref=20050128l40l40not_2&type=Tes&anc...

Translated into English:

Marie Fredriksson retakes her solo career with “The change”,her first album in English.

Although the disc is already on sale in the major part of Europe, it will not be until the next Monday, 31 of January, when it’s going to be for sale the first CD in English of the singer of Roxette. The album, called “The change”, is the return to the world of music of the Swedish singer, who retakes her solo career after being treated a cerebral tumor she was diagnosed in September of 2002.

In a very good mood, Marie Fredriksson affirmed during the press conference that “the fact of recording The change has been a victory for me, an incredibly and fantastic sensation that is difficult to explain with words”. The 44 years old singer has joined in this album some of the best Swedish musicians under the production of her husband, Mikael Bolyos.

After several months thinking about the possibility of recording a solo CD in English, Fredriksson knew how to combine the recovery of her treatment with the recording of the new album in the Polar study of Stockholm and the study the couple have in their own house: “Sometimes I thought that I would not have enough strenght to finish the recording, but I got it, step by step”, she commented.

Now it will be the turn of the great number of fans the 50% of Roxette have in Spain to support her and enjoy the twelve songs where Marie Fredriksson shares “emotions and experiences of our worse moment”.

Sorry about the possible mistakes. Bye!

Next January... shame THAT”S avery long wait!!

purplemedusa >> It´s not a long wait. Just 3 days.. next monday 31 st of January

I read it in spanish and wonder ” porque solo 50%de los fans se apoyará a marie”?

Answer: I have noticed that there is a high % of fans very supportive of Per’s song writing skill and songs than the ones that embracces the less commercial yet highy artistic aspect of Marie’s musicality. So those 50% are these Marie fans to some extent who knows...

“los numerosos fans que el 50% de Roxette tiene en España” = the numerous fans the 50 % of Roxette has in Spain = the numerous fans Marie has in Spain

There is still something wrong with that sentece: it seems that the whole fan commnuity of Roxette is made of 50% spanish fans ... how true can that be?
What does that 50% really means? Could it really mean that 50% of the Roxette fans are Marie fans? How true could that also be?

No, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that sentence, the 50%-part only refers to Marie, not to the fans!

I think that the sentence (read in Spanish) means that MARIE is the “50% of Roxette”. That´s it. They´re not talking about the fans or anything.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I meant up there ;-)

Spanish expert here - ehem :P

It means exactly what Starrox has written here. Article refers to Marie as the “50% of Roxette”. Has nothing to do with how many fans she or Per might have :)

By the way, thanks for not telling me thanks for the translation!!!

Alright then going through a 2nd reading it now makes sence yet the use of the 50% here is absolutely unappropriate as a latin native speaker I would consider that the most inatural thing in this context. It would be even clearer with “the half of roxette” than “this 50% of Roxette... jesus what are Roxette now? A share market or something? LOL

Vielen Dank für die Erklärung Starrox!

All the problems are solved.

Judith - Good to know I there’s still some of my Spanish knowledge left!

Rox_Nox2003 - That 50 %-thing would sound strange in every language, I think, not just in Spanish...

Maybe but by the way I am Portuguese ...:)))

Here´s an article from Czech Musicserver about The Change.

The sentence sounds fine to me, I would either say “la mitad de Roxette” or “el 50% de Roxette”, which is actually the same ;)

Gracias para esto :D Es muy interesante. saludos
