Would have chosen “I don’t want to get hurt” instead of releasing “June Afternoon” in the middle of January!!

I remember that “I don’t want to get hurt” was a single down here in Brazil and one of the most played songs here at that time. Really beautiful song. I love it. And I love all the new tracks on that album. “She doesn’t live here anymore” is a gem, just as “June afternoon”. Love their videos!

You’re absolutely right, Kiwein. Pretty weird to release a song called ’JUNE Afternoon’ in January. Also its sound doesn’t really fit the winter. (I am not that much a fan of June Afternoon anyway.)

great colection!!
i remember when i got video Cd—ooohhh what a joy :-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I’ve still got my copies of both the album (on CD) and the video release. Must admit I found the fact that 3 of the 4 “new” songs didn’t get put on it. You’d think that they would’ve filmed the rest of the videos before bringing it out on VHS...

Wow!! i can’t believe it, 10 yrs already.
I remember i was at school (yr 10) when my science teacher told me that Roxette had a new album out (he was abit of a fan). That afternoon i went into town to grab a copy, and just loved the new songs..... still do!! Then oneday a short time after, i was in a music shop when i stumbled across the greatest video hits, bought it straight away. It was the first time i got to see the clips for the songs released from CBB, seeing as they all flopped in australia except for SIMC.

Funny how we remember the exact day when a Roxette CD was released! :-) I remember putting the CD on and when I listened to I dont want to get hurt, I went silent and goosebumps went all over my body. I was really touched by this simply but so beautiful song!
Never really liked You dont understand me, until my marriage started to break appart and I had come to realize, the lines of the song described my feelings and thoughts to the extreme!!

i rembner how psyched i was because everyone kept saying that roxette might have broken up after the joyride tour, and then i heard june afternoon and i knew the magic would never die. i agree idwtgh should have been a single, but maybe the fact it wasn’t is what makes it that much more special
n-Somnia said on January 18, 2005 19:50:
@moin: That song still gives me goosebumps to this day. Especially the strings section before the last chorus. :D

It was the last time that Roxette was promoted here in New Zealand, it did well in the charts. But I never heard the new singles played on the radio, although they did release them here. I actually put off buying the album, as I wanted the sense of anticipation to last!!!!!!!!
n-Somnia said on January 20, 2005 03:42:
@antz: I remember it well. I’d managed to find the CD singles for YDUM and June Afternoon, but had trouble finding SDLHA.
If only the promotions for the albums since then were the same. Or better still, if only those albums had promotion, fullstop.

I can say that with Don’t Bore Us - Get To The Chorus! began my Joyride with Roxette. I got the album from my uncle and I was in heaven while listening to it. I knew Roxette before this, but Don’t Bore Us - Get To The Chorus! totally changed my attitude towards Roxette.

I agree completely.
My father bought it since it was the greatest hits. I remember how the CD case was quite tight that I fear I might rip the CD. The transparent inner holder adds a nice touch with all the Roxette recordings at the back. It was a surprise to see that Pearls of Passion was Roxette’s first album. I actually got to buy the ’97 version and boy, I love Roxette in the late 80’s.
I really adore the great design of the album, the commentaries by Marie and Per about each songs, just wish that they were longer. This album is a pure gem considering that you can get ’It Must Have Been Love’ and ’Almost Unreal’ without buying the soundtracks of movies (this was before Kazza and Napster became a phenomenon).
Because of that album too, I love sunflowers!!!
Boy, even all the four previously unreleased tracks qualify as singles on their own. An album filled with the goodness of Roxette: great title, awesome songs and even has the trademark Roxette star on it.

I actually never bought this album... until 2001 or 2002 when I bought the US version which is the same album as far as I know. Only a pic on the cover is totally different.

I wish they had also released “I Don’t Want To Get Hurt”. One of their most beautiful songs ever!
