emi brought up the idea of a spanish language album to per and marie many years ago according to an interview i rember with per. They wanted to wait until they had enought ” hit” material to compile an album, so i guess on the emi side it was financial, and for roxette it was a way of showing appreciation to what is undoubtedly their largest fan base in latin america

and on santi’s comment reagrding subtitles, i think it come sout fo the fact that alot of the projects that roxette do are compiled and or manufactured in non spanish speaking countries, and on the swedish end lets be honest, your not going to manufature a large number of subtitled dvd’s unless u know the market is there and over the past 10 yrs there has been a considerable shrinkage in roxettes popularity so its financially not feasible

Why ballads and not any up-tempo songs?

My theory is that they chose to sing only ballads because as the beat is slow is easier to pronounce in a language that they don’t know (and they certainly don’t pronounce well) than a faster song. The amount of effort for make it sound like a “song” would be less, even if you have to make the effort and you hear them suffering in “Soy una mujer” :D I imagine “The Big L.” sang in Spanish and that would be really fun by Per :D

From my point of view it has nothing to do with the language sounding “romantic”, it was only a matter of convenience.

In Chile the album sold almost 30,000 copies, and almost all tracks were played in radio stations... in 1997 i was 14 and i lost many BEE in the school, i know those thieves were girls becouse during that year i had to write down so many times the BEE lyrics to girls that asked me to do it...
