What does the name of the duo ROXETTE mean?

Rock runt riket was the name of a tour that Roxette had in Sweden the summer of 1987.

Welcome Iaroslav - I guess you’re new to these pages huh?
Per (Male half of Roxette), got the idea for the name “Roxette” from a 1974 song of the same name by British R&B group “Dr Feelgood”.

Rock runt riket means “Rock around the Country”.

Hi, Stiven!
Hi, Thomas!
Nice to meet you:)
As I get Roxette in the same-named song is the name of some girl, am I right?
And “rock around the country” is an other version?
But, were both versions used to name the duo by Marie and Per or the second one is some other person’s fantasy, don’t you know?

Sorry me, perhaps I’m hopeless stupid, but even now I don’t get what did this word correctly meant for Per when he took that for the band:-{

I don’t think “Roxette” as such means anything. It’s just a name. It’s a girl’s name in the Dr. Feelgood song.
steven said on December 20, 2004 20:16:
Yes... I agree with Roxetter...
Per probably heard the word Roxette (from the Dr Feelgood song) and thought that it sounded kinda cool.
harriej said on December 20, 2004 21:06:
@steven: Not probably! It is the “official” story that they took the name from that song.

I heard on the radio that ROXETTE Filipenese word which means “backache”.
Mitya said on December 21, 2004 15:32:
now what I want to ask is: is Roxette really a girl‘s name? I mean is it a girl‘s name only in Dr. Feelgood‘s song or does such a girl‘s name really exist? I don‘t know a single girl named Roxette, i‘ve heard a girl‘s name Roxana.
RuRoxLove said on December 22, 2004 01:04:
@Mitya. Yeah, right, Roxanna or Roxann, accordin’ to English
Anarem said on December 23, 2004 04:11:
No, Roxette doesn’t mean “backache” in Tagalog (the language that Filipinos speak).
RuRoxLove said on December 20, 2004 04:18:
Maybe I’m a stupid guy but I still don’t get what the word “roxette” means...
Nothin’?
Is that a female name?
If that is “rock runt ricket” what does that mean?
Pliz help me to get roxeducated:)
