Swedish Film/TV

Hi,

I am looking for recommendations of good Swedish language films and TV shows.

Thanks, oam

Show Me Love, Togeather and My Life As A Dog are good....

I watched one recently with the UK’s Michel Kitchen in, about the murder of Olaf Palme, that was really good but I cannot remember the name of it! ,MK was playing the guy who had suppose to assinated the Prime Minster... was a really good film, one I would like on DVD...

Two really good films are “Änglagård” and Änglagård 2”. Both directed by Colin Nutley. Those two are in my opinion two of the best Swedish films ever.

Sällskapsresan 1 and 2!
You must see them, so great movies.

“Rapport till himlen”

“The Best Intentions” is a terriffic film that was released as a movie here in the US. It was based on Ingmar Bergman’s parents’ courtship. Directed by Billie August. I understand it was a mini-series or something like it and the US release of the film was a pared-down version. Still well worth you while.

Also, and this is most probably spelled wrong, Det Sjunde Insiglet or The Seventh Seal, the classic Bergman film with Max Von Sydow about a knight returning from the Crusades during the plague years. A must for any film fan.

thank you all

Ooo... u can’t go wrong with Colin Nutley films!!

MM: Billie August....any relation to Pernilla August?

Billie and Pernilla were married—not sure now. She actually plays the role that is based on Bergman’s mother. She’s so wonderfu in the film, so luminous and beautiful. “The Best Intentions” is fairly high on my Top 10 Favorite Films of all time.

I was surprised to see her show up in the last two Star Wars films. . . nice to see her, but the role was so small for someone with that much talent.

The films made from Astrid Lindgren books are nice as well, I think... “Ronja Rövardotter” is my favourite... :-) These films bring back childhood memories... back then I watched the dubbed versions of course...

But yes, the very best Swedish films are the two “Änglagård” films. :-)

Fucking Åmal was a good Swedish movie (with Gyllene Tider playing in it for a minute!)
