Vix, it IS a cow shed, literally. Its a farmers market venue. Btw, why was wembley awful.....? tell all.

the first time i saw roxette live was in 1989 in a small club called paradiso in holland there were a few hundred people there. that was very special i saw them 3 times after that one.
ncurran said on November 15, 2004 18:12:
rich i was at that gig too, and it was great...though it wasnt the first time i saw them...that was a few years earlier at the same venue on the join the joyride tour....another fantastic gig.
on_a_mission said on November 15, 2004 19:16:
i was at the gig, aged 10! It was amazing. If I could go back, I would. oam//
edit: I had actually forgotten the date was the 15th. Wow....it seems like a lifetime ago....
Vixzter said on November 15, 2004 19:31:

on_a_mission said on November 15, 2004 19:36:

Vixzter said on November 15, 2004 20:05:
i did the whole lot ( appart from Dublin Point Theatre) on the uk/irish leg of CBB tour ;)
Vixzter said on November 15, 2004 20:08:
out of all the gigs it was the best one! wembley was awful, sheffield was ok, b’ham marie had a cold and sounded bad, edinburg rocked! even though the place looked like a cow shed ;)
ally77 said on November 15, 2004 20:16:
Yeah I knew it was 10 years since I saw Roxette at Sheffield Arena (I think without looking it up it was November 14th 1994) as it was the same week they started the National Lottery back then and I bought my first lottery ticket in Sheffield Medowhall Shopping Centre! using number relating to Per and Marie! I still play the same numbers 10 years on!!!
**Okay now I am feeling very old......**
ally77 said on November 15, 2004 20:17:
It was not the first time I saw them, I saw them first back at Shefield Arena on 17th July 1992!
Roxette-atic said on November 15, 2004 20:41:
I had the 10th Anniversary on september 9.
September 9 1994 was the first time I saw Roxette live, at The Globe in Stockholm. I was there with 6 friends, that I had convinced to join me. I was the only real Roxette-freak amongst us ;)
Goosh I would give almost anything to see Per and Marie live again, in concert!
felicity-brown said on November 15, 2004 21:04:
Mine was on November 9th, but it wasn’t my first show. Wembley was shite cos of the rude bastard audience and the crappy acoustics there. I remember looking back and seeing a sea of folded arms lol ...I was down the front at the barriers and had a good time regardless :D
hehe I remember sending a fax to Ray Cokes at MTV’s Most Wanted the following day and it getting read out (well, almost) ...”Felicity Brown from London ...and she says...” hmmmmn I actually only thanked Per for the plectrums. I did get a lil package from MTV in the post though - the black C!B!B! tour t-shirt, a cap and a chain-type-thingy-thing LOL
Vixzter said on November 15, 2004 21:08:

ally77: yay sheffield arena 17th july 92! another aniversary for me ;-)

one day i may make an internet site about my rox on tour experience ;) it would be quite colourful ;)
Vixzter said on November 15, 2004 21:10:
@fliss: i’m so glad it wasnt just me who thought the bastards at wembley ruined it!
felicity-brown said on November 15, 2004 21:13:
Nope, not just you ...it actually upsets me to think about it - imagine having to play to such an ignorant bloody bunch! grrrr
Rich-UK said on November 15, 2004 21:23:
I went to Wembly once and thought the acoustics were really poor. We were sat right at the back though so maybe that had something to do with it. Not tellin’ who we saw as we’ll get very red faced :-P
Vixzter said on November 15, 2004 21:26:
yea! bastards! still.....i was the only one i saw with a how do you do (since departed this universe) t-shirt on ;) i was so proud of that shirt ;) and then it died from overwear ;-)
felicity-brown said on November 15, 2004 21:27:
lol who was it ...I won’t tell! ;)
Well, I’ve seen quite a few bands ...even the Spice Girls ...but shhhhhsh *runs & hides*
Vixzter said on November 15, 2004 21:28:

who did u see Rich??? come on it can’t be as embarasing as the Quo ( i wont tell u how many times ive seen them!) ;)
on_a_mission said on November 15, 2004 21:33:
hey, thats shocking about wembley....who the hell pays good money to go see a band then treats them like crap...? idiots! oam//
AURYTE said on November 15, 2004 21:39:
It seems that Wimbley is not a place for ROXETTE. I can’t imagine that Brits can be so rude. You pay the money for the concert and then run out...???
PS You have wonderful relations with your dad, Rich-UK. I actaully saw ROXETTE first also with my dad. Lithaunian television broadcasted ROXETTE’s concert from CRASH!BOOM!BANG! tour. I, little girl, sat on the sofa with my daddy, who told me lots of ROXETTE... What a memory...
PPS As I understood, in the RUN TO YOU video there are snippets from ROXETTE’s concerts in Great Britain. Which concerts are they?
Vixzter said on November 15, 2004 21:39:
@fliss: i can nearly top that.....i saw Take That on the Radio 1 RoadShow ;)
Rich-UK said on November 15, 2004 21:47:
*gulp* - the Take That thing makes me feel a little better but you’d have been much younger than I was... ummm... OK, well they begin with B...
Roxette-atic said on November 15, 2004 22:12:
How were they rude to Roxette at wembley? Did they buu?? :(
Vixzter said on November 15, 2004 22:27:
They might as well have, most ppls sat there with no intention of enjoying themsleves or even liking the music, it was a complete bastard crowd.....appart from me my mum my bro and fliss ;)
Starrox said on November 15, 2004 23:10:
@AURYTE: “PPS As I understood, in the RUN TO YOU video there are snippets from ROXETTE’s concerts in Great Britain. Which concerts are they?”
Those snippets aren’t from concerts in GB, but from the one in Frankfurt/Main in Germany ;-)
Rich-UK said on November 15, 2004 23:25:
You’re right Vix... but which 1?!... hmmm... my Dad says if I tell anyone my lilywhite ass will get... ummm, OK, t’was Busted...
Rich-UK said on November 15, 2004 23:28:
Amongst other things this evening, my Dad and I listened to the Crashing Guitars bootleg with a whole concert from the CBB tour. Cheers for all the replies to this thread, t’was really nice to read ’em. Awww... All the best from Rich
Vixzter said on November 16, 2004 00:08:
@starrox: as far as i knew the clips were all from german shows ( i think) even the crowd shots, as all except edingburg were seated concerts in the UK
ncurran said on November 16, 2004 05:24:
i was also at 3 of the UK gigs on the CBB tour, the only one i didnt go to was wembley...looks like i didnt miss much from other peoples comments. I saw Roxette 3 times in scotland in total. the first time in Edinburgh in 91, then glasgow in 92, then the gig that people are talking about, Edinburgh in 94. Scottish audiences are always pretty crazy, but the Edinburgh gigs were the best...funny because Glasgow audiences are normally also pretty crazy, but the Glasgow gig wasnt quite as good, maybe because there were quite a few empty seats at the back. But I remember Marie saying at the Edinburgh gig in 94 how she remembered the last time they played there they had a great time and they were looking forward to coming back. I also spoke about the scottish gigs with Per when i was talking to him on the RS tour at that fan party in Sweden, and he said the scottish gigs were great....he also told me that after the glasgow gig in 92 (i think it was the last concert on the summer joyride), the band did some tourist things in scotland and went up to Loch Ness for a few days.
Vixzter said on November 16, 2004 07:39:
@starrox: oh yea ;) wasnt reading straight last night. anyways RTY came out shortly after they left the UK....infact it was almost 2 to 3 weeks late! and so everyone had forgot who they were by then.
Vixzter said on November 16, 2004 07:41:
BTW......tis 16th November .....9 years ago today was Shepards Bush Empire gig in London, bloody fantastic gig! ;)
Starrox said on November 16, 2004 10:14:
@vix: Hihi, I somehow expected that answer ;-)
@felicity-brown: “hehe I remember sending a fax to Ray Cokes at MTV’s Most Wanted the following day and it getting read out (well, almost) ...”Felicity Brown from London ...and she says...” hmmmmn I actually only thanked Per for the plectrums. Was that the show with Roxette in the studio? If yes, I think I have to take a look at my video back at home soon ;-) I still have a snippet I once did one my harddrive, though - the part about splitting up (or being drunk, according to Per *g*)...
felicity-brown said on November 16, 2004 12:41:
@ Starrox: Yup, that’s the one - they sang “Run To You”... and were asked if splitting up... You can hear Ray Cokes mention my name when reading some faxes and ...well, that’s about it actually lol ...my claim to fame ;)
ncurran said on November 16, 2004 12:55:
vix, remember standing in the queue waiting to get into that edinuburgh gig, and the band passing in their bus....we got a wee wave from marie as she passed.
Rich-UK said on November 16, 2004 13:28:
I remember that Neil, he he... and the soundchecks too which added to the excitement... it was a very long and noisy queue :-) All the best, Rich
on_a_mission said on November 16, 2004 16:05:
dammit! I wish I was older when I was at the Edinburgh gig...you guys did all this stuff I didnt remember,
@Neil, I remember Marie’s comments though.
Hotblooded said on December 15, 2004 11:38:
For me I will never forget the 8th of Dec 1991, it was the first time seeing roxette live and for me it was like the most amazing experience ever! I was 14 at the time and will forever have that intro in my head, the red lights raising with the shadows of Marie and Per and then that voice...OMG I will never forget it just an amazing feeling! For me it is like a wedding anniversary lol I never forget it, just a really special experience and it confirmed for me what I wanted to do when I get older, music in some way!
1995 CBB isn’t as much in my memory but I know it was 21st Jan and it was also a great concert, I guess I was so obsessed with them selling the arena out that when I saw it wasn’t I felt a little disappointed but the crowd ended up being so loud and enthusiastic which was nice and they seemed to play forever which was great too and...ok I better stop or I could go on and on :)

Hi Folks!
I would like to share with you that today is a special day for my Dad and I as it’s 10 years since we saw Roxette for the first time, at Edinburgh Ingliston Exhibition Centre on the Crash! Boom! Bang! tour. It was an incredible evening, starting with the mysterious Mission Impossible theme, then seeing Marie and Per on stage at the start of Sleeping In My Car, then hearing favourites like Lies and The Rain, classics like It Must Have Been Love and Joyride, and interesting arrangements of Spending My Time and Cry, before finishing with the sublime Go To Sleep, and realising that the magic was all over.
Per and Marie have given us so much enjoyment over the years for which we are so thankful. Indeed we could never have hoped then that 10 years later we would see together three GT25 concerts in Sweden. Every year on 15th November I celebrate this anniversary, and tonight we will listen together to Roxette and related songs all evening.
I just wanted to share these memories with you, and ask whether anyone else was there at that Roxette concert, or has really fond memories of the first time they saw Roxette, or celebrates anniversaries of seeing Roxette concerts like this, or enjoys Roxette and related music with their family?!
All the best from Rich & Dad ;-)
