Did Roxette learn from their solo-projects?

The “The Change”album-snippets sound very good and interesting!
I think they are strong, warm, personal, intense and it shows us a new and mature side of Marie! Very good! The same could be said about Per’s Mazarin-songs.
I think Roxette’s popularity wouldn’t have died in the beginning of the 90’s, if they had tried harder to find a more personal and less overproduced / fabricated sound. Mazarin and The Change should be examples for a Roxette’s future cd !!!!!!!
Roxette’s songs after 1995 sound like parodies of Roxette songs. Especially “A Thing About You”, and “Opportunety Nox”!!!
“Salvation” is the worst, it sounds like a Roxette is making a fool of their own love song repetoire!!!
I hope that Per and Marie do learn from their solo-projects!
What do you think?

Hey! I completely disagree!!! “Salvation” is one of my favorite Roxette songs. And I think it’s one of the best Roxette’s ballads ever...
Anarem said on October 23, 2004 20:26:
I disagree. One of the best songs Roxette ever released happened post-1995, and it’s “Wish I Could Fly”.

Hej
I totally agree... but my problem with Roxette music started with “Have A Nice Day”... I hope Per and Marie drop the synths and all those stupid dance effects and try to do REAL music.
“Mazarin” is a example to follow... hopefully the next Roxette album will be more Per and Marie and less EMI.
About “Salvation” I totally agree too... this songs sucks so much that makes me want to rip off my arm only to have somethig to crash the stereo.
“Anyone” is another “please rip off my ears” kind of song. Booooooooooring !!
Let´s see what the future will bring us.
All the best

I think that many fans would crave the fresh air and simplicity of Mazarin / The Change in a future Roxette album.
There are lots of great post-1995 Roxette songs but some could have benefitted from a stripped-down production.

yeah I really have problems with HAND and RS.. feels like inspiration and lust is gone there.
Hope next is more GT and Marie-ish ;)

everyone wanted a roxette album that sounded like twatg they got one its called HAND and it was an awesome album. Salvation is an aweosme powerballd, the due to supposed ” fan disgruntlement” they go backwards and make rs, who’s only hit single was supposed to be on the hand album.
ncurran said on October 24, 2004 15:48:
I know most fans dont like HAND, but i actually really enjoyed the album, although there are a couple of duff songs on it.
Room service isnt bad either, but it certainly isnt their best album
Roxreporter said on October 24, 2004 17:04:
Tooootaly agree with judith. There are a few nice poptracks on HAND and RS.
But when you know the earlier rox you should know better. When you listen to their great albums like Tourism and CBB, you’ll hear it’s ten times better than their last two studio albums.
Though I think the last 5 songs on HAND are very good.
Anarem said on October 24, 2004 17:07:
Holy crap, I agree with coyboy! ;-)
Of all the albums Roxette has made, HAND is the only one I still listen to on a regular basis. Maybe it’s because when I hear the words “dance music”, I don’t instantly run and hide as though Per and Marie had contracted a venereal disease and was spreading it to their fans through the HAND cd.
RS, on the other hand... ugh. WTF happened?

A Fusion OF per solo and marie solo is the PERFECT ROXETTE :-D that would be just SO SO cool. could call the next album ’fusion’ hehe
I agree with some points, but come on i think ’anyone’ is beautiful and ’WICF’ perfect, ’tcoth’ and ’mATAH’ great aslo, but they have been a rather mid ok songs :-S.

Behind PG-GT& MF there’s no hands of Clarence Öfwerman, but honestly i don’t think that Roxette want to go ahead without “his touch” ...
rox-kuryliw said on October 24, 2004 21:55:
ow i think they should me you see. he has done a good job in the past , Maire never used him , and he stuff is great i think. Try someone new.

I don’t see many similarity between TWATG and HAND. Well, of course, HAND has really, really great tracks! Much better than ’Room service’, but what puts TWATG miles away from HAND is the production.
’Have a nice day’ is a pop-dance album that was trying to sound like the end of the nineties, like Per has said. Ok, it has great tracks like “Wish I could fly”, “Pay the price” and “Staring at the ground”... TWATG is a powerpop album, influenced by the best of that genre. Its dance-track, “Kix”, kicks any Roxette dance track’s ass!
Both are great albums, but ’The world according to Gessle’ is more my kind of thing... my favorite so far, I have to say.
I still haven’t heard Marie’s snnipets and I don’t think I want to. I’ve listened to “2:nd chance” and “All you’ve gotta is feel” and I love both of them. It’s a cool side of Marie that is kinda unknown for most people.
A mix of TWATG, FFF, Mazarin, CBB and some of the new Marie new tracks (including “Waiting for the rain”) would be very interesting.

bahh... stop it ya all :P I think the best thing Roxette can do now for us... the remaining fans... would be to produce an album which should sound strikingly similar to C!B!B!
I think CBB was the best Roxette album in almost every way. From lyrics to compositions from the guitars to the production, everything was absolutely wonderful. It was a PLANNED album indeed. The world has fallen into a Britney-Shakira craze (which should get over soon hopefully) but Per and Marie shouldn’t follow this to get more $$$.
I am sorry but I can NOT agree with what someone above said that A THING ABOUT YOU is a Roxette parody (or something like that). ATAY is a typical Roxette song. Even the people who have not been listening to Roxette since years would recognize them instantly if they listen to it.
CBB was the PURE Roxette sound which was even there in some of the DBUGTTC songs and we stillllllll love them.
One word of sincere advice ROXETTE... do NOT try to be what you are not. Yes, Per I know you said “BE ANYONE YOU WANA BE” but u shudn’t at least forget what you really are from inside. GET BACK TO ROXETTE STYLE. PHULEEEZZ

you’ve got a point there. There is some really good roxette post 1995, but its scarce and very commercial. They could do with having a more ’stripped’ sound. A bit of sincerity in the lyrics would do no harm. Maybe it would even be of commercial benefit. They could play the ’mature’ angle. However, I don’t know. There is not even nescessarily a market for roxette these days anyways. Nor are we certain there will ever be a roxette.
