Always Breaking My Heart by Belinda Carlisle

I heard that Per and some other guys from Gyllene Tider helped her to record this song. Is it true?
seba said on October 15, 2004 21:10:
Both songs are great, especially “Always Breaking My Heart”, But I don’t like Belinda’s versions. btw, there are some differences in the lyrics of “Always...” demo (by per) and the final version (by belinda).

I like Belinda’s ABMH it is quite rocky :) but well, it’s Gessle who’s number one, his demos really rule!
rox-kuryliw said on October 15, 2004 22:20:
I think belinda carlisle version is WAY better , No question, Got a suprise top 10 in uk for it, per wouldnt of got it there without her vocals.
seba said on October 15, 2004 22:31:
@rox-kuryliw: that’s exactly why I don’t like her versions. No offense, but I don’t like her voice at all!.
on_a_mission said on October 15, 2004 22:46:
she’s a brittish artist isn’t she? why did Per and she end up working together at all?
Does anyone know?
ncurran said on October 16, 2004 06:29:
she’s american, and i think it was her management that approached per to write for her, not sure though
AURYTE said on October 16, 2004 10:40:
I like ALWAYS BREAKING MY HEART. A big chnage from previous Belinda’s releases.
Is PER on vocals for ALWAYS BREAKING MY HEART?
Zargo said on October 16, 2004 11:01:
tecnically he is, although you’d be hard-spent trying to distinguish his vocals.
rox-kuryliw said on October 16, 2004 11:42:
@ seba no worrys we all have different tastes :-).
Belinda carlisle & per gessle on backing vocals says in credits for song.
I saw her last year live and she sang it, it rocked, it was wicked.
girl7twenty7 said on October 16, 2004 13:44:
Yes, I can hear Pers “oooh”s in Belinda’s version! :)
Both variants are great, but I like the demo a little bit more.
Per’s demo of Love doesn’t live here is really much better. As I remember in her version there weren’t any Per & company’s influence.

I loved this when it was first released and bought it also... but now I think it sucks...
coyboyusa said on October 17, 2004 14:47:
i still think if it was a roxette single the song would have been huge shame on per for wasting sych a great song on such a nasally woman :)
Superbullie said on October 17, 2004 16:54:
@girl7twenty7: Per’s version of Love doesn’t live here that’s been released on the kix single is not a demo. It has been produced by Per, Clarence and Michael Ilbert
on_a_mission said on October 17, 2004 20:09:
speaking of, who the hell was/is Micheal Ilbert and where did he go...He used to be on all the credits didnt he?
tevensso (moderator) said on October 17, 2004 22:21:
Ilbert’s sound was too “rough” so he was “fired” from the Finn5fel! recordings, and Christoffer was hired instead. To make a long story short.
AURYTE said on October 19, 2004 04:51:
When I see the title LOVE DOESN’T LIVE HERE, I always think of SHE DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE.
girl7twenty7 said on October 19, 2004 07:11:
I loved this “rough” Ilbert sound and I’m missing it now.
Kiwein1 said on October 19, 2004 07:31:
I have to agree - I think the “C&C production” is too soft on many songs. They turn out to sound all the same in the end. Bring Ilbert back. :)
Bunio said on October 19, 2004 12:35:
Pers versions are WAY better.
Belindas are simply tragic, i dont like them.
Ilbert? Oh no, he is responsible for HAND and should be arrested!
rox-kuryliw said on October 19, 2004 14:39:
I liked HAND alot, my first roxette album for me. has some right gems on it.
on_a_mission said on October 19, 2004 21:09:
I like Clarence and Christopher. I had forgottent he travesty that was HAND. Looks like he’s out forever now if they fired him from FFF. That’s pretty harsh actually!
coyboyusa said on October 20, 2004 14:19:
hand ruled! love doesnt live here anymore reminds me od the madonna song
gyllene_tjej said on October 15, 2004 20:47:
yes, that’s true Per, Anders , Jonas and Clarence were involved - they played the guitars, keyboards and Anders and clarence also did some programming. Per wrote the lyrics and did backing vocals too. this one and another song written by him - Love doesn’t live here appeared on belinda’s record A woman and a man, and the Gessle demos to these songs are included on DYWBMB and Kix respectively. I think they are fabulous!
