Creating a buzz in the UK

.......I reckon the only way to get the single/album released in the UK....and then also to sell well is to create a buzz, get people to know about it. I’ve made this posting: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/h2/h2.cgi?x=y&board=radio2.radio2&offset=0...

Any other good places to post messages?

We, fans, should promote MARIE. I send e-mail to radio station in Lithuania.

I posted on there too now.;) But it says it’s my first post. :( Unless the post counts I have on the other BBC forums don’t count. Grrrness.
Hehehe. :D
If anyone is going to play it, I think it would be Radio 2, yep.

Well I emailed all the radio 2 presenters 3 days ago and sent them the single, all I got back where bog standard instant replys.... :(

i’ll email them too hahahha. lets all do that!

i emailed them too a couple of days ago....not holding my breath though. EMi needs to send them the promos, then i’m sure radio 2 would pick up on it, they always supported the later roxette ballads with maries voice. but i am really doubtful emi will even bother releasing it. The only way you might get it on the radio is if someone bought an extra copy of the single and sent it to one of the DJs who is roxette friendly, its a long shot, but it might work. and if it did get some airplay, maybe then EMI might get their a**es into gear.

I sent the MP3 to some of the DJ’s on Radio 2.... but if I get to Sweden for the album would be happy to buy an extra single to send to someone at radio 2....

why bother, I mean, small fish BIG pond...can’t you all just enjoy the muzak?

Your right I think it is a complete waste of time....

No harm in trying........remember how The Look took off!

yeah there are one or 2 djs at radio2 who are fans of roxettes music, so i think there is a chance that if someone sent in the CD they would play some of it...maybe eventhe album would be better. I agree that we can just enjoy the music, but i think its also such a shame that such a talented musician can be so undiscovered by so many people. I think with the right exposure this album could do very well, even in the UK....

perhaps u are right, but its at the musicians discretion to promote the record. particularly this musician in her particular set of circumstances

i dont want to be a negative person ( waits for hail of stones to stop) but radio stations really dont work how they used to especialy the comercial ones. they have a play list and usualy its a set format and thats it, the DJs are knobbers all they do is....well not alot but talk crap ;)
if steve wright on radio 2 was to get a copy then maybe he might atleast mention it but i dont want u all getting ure hopes up and then slagging off the radio and media coz they just dont have the same taste as we do ;P oh and also theyd probably slate it anyway and i dont want to have to send really really hate filled emails to the uneducated twits who sit their cosy little studios pressing buttons ;)
but anyway....saying that i’d be well chuffed if it came out here and charted coz that would just be a big finger in the eye of emi

I posted cause I was bored. ;) And it’s cool to see a topic I can actually reply to on BBC forums. ;)
I mean, c’mon, I usually post on saturday kitchen cooking stuff. (grin)

I wouldn’t buy it if it came out in the UK anyways... cause I’ll be getting it from net.
But if anyone was to play it here, it would probably be radio 2. (Our dentist waiting room is always playing radio 2, It really dulls me if i’m honest. ;))

*hails stones, knives and other random shit in the direction of Vixzter*

Sorry Vix, i was just really bored and thought I’d do it before someone actually meant it. :-)

I don’t think that radio statioms will play songs, ehich are sent by fans. I guess, they mostly play songs, which are sent by record companies.

Oh know I am big radio 2 person, although I also tune into my own local radio station TOWER FM! :)

AURYTE: UK radio does actually accept requests. Local BBC radio stations, and the like of radio 2, play songs requested by what you could class as ’fans’ I guess.
Bigger ones like radio 1 etc are more fussy.
