Difference between Almost Unreal & the AC Mix?

Difference between Almost Unreal & the AC Mix? Both versions sound the same to me! Can anyone tell me what the difference is? I just bought the 4 track CD single on eBay just because of the AC Mic Version of that song, but its just the same, isn’t it? I should just have stayed with the paperback single I had anyways...

It has some distinguishable differences. Listen to it very carefully in headphones ;)

Will try that tonight, when, or if I ever get home from work!

Hello moin:

I felt the same 1 month ago, when I bought the UK maxi. I was waiting for a powerfull mix, but it was very dissappointing... You can find some differences in the arrengement, and the chorus in the end of the song.
The same happens in “It Will Take A Lon Long Time” (Modern Rock Version) and “Fading Like A Flower” (Gatica Remix). A shame...

the ac version the guitars are replaced by synthesizers and the drums are muffled down

rember ac means adult contemporary basically light music radio for peopel over 35 so it won’t ever sound like a rock song on that station

I’m still looking for the mix they play at the end of Super Mario Bros. Also thought THAT would be the AC Mix on the single... oh well....

was the version at the end of super mario bros. different?? i never noticed?!

yeah, the begining was diffrenet. Song starts with guitar intro as I remember correctly

^^I’ve never heard of that version (I’ve never seen the movie either because I can’t find it anywhere...has to do something with the film being a flop) and the version on the soundtrack is the same as on the single. I like the ’2 Cinnamon street’ version on the soundtrack...that one is way different :-)

Anyway, the AC version has more synths indeed, you can hear the differences very well.

The AC version has more synths in the chorus, the guitars are much lower, so that the sound level stays more the same throughout the song on radio. And the background singing doesn’t take a break at the end of the song.

BTW: Almost Unreal wasn’t a flop, the movie was! At least in Europe. It didn’t even make it to cinema in my city. When it was finally shown on TV the credits were of course cut off, so I’ve never heard AU in the movie. How does that version sound exactly?

Anyway, isn’t it pointless to release a soundtrack when the songs are never played in the movie?

I have an LD copy of that movie and song sounds the same to me as usual single version.

euhmmm...I meant the film, not the song. OK, I’ve corrected it :-)

Ey, you can’t correct your comment! Now mine doesn’t make sense anymore! ;-)

Yes, the movie version starts off with guitars - similiar to the end part of the song. Then slows down into the 1st verse. I loved it! Sounds so much better than the original... gives it more oomf! ;o)

The intro is really different. ALMOST UNREAL is played when the title Super Mario Bros. disappears with some kind of noise. So the difference could be caused by it as well.

Talking about this video, is it true that Marie was pregnant when producing it? Is that the reason we don´t see her body in it, just her face?

As far as I know she was almost 9months pregnant, yes. You can see her tummy in Fingertips’93 quite clearly. ;o)

i might just try and find myself a copy of this :-)

The movie version intro I like alot too, much better than the actual single version. I was totally suprised when I first heard it and thought that there must be a release of it, but there isnt.

i’ll do my best to rip this movie version to mp3. i’ve got movie on vhs-tape, recorded from tv years ago.

song not only starts different, it appears to be faster, for me...

@Jackeill: If you are in a country with PAL the movie is 4% faster.

Great stuff, Jackeill! ;o)
