2nd chance- your opinion

So here we go again, finaly, thank god!!!
Like everytime someting new is released by Roxette,PG,GT,MF, Roxette Fans, in this case Marie Fans, share opinions!
So what do you think?

I think it is a very strong ballad with deep emotions in Marie voices!

So congratulations Marie!!!
I sounds like it feels good for you to do this! You are admirable! Thank you!

I do like it, it reminds me of TRO but I think it’s only meant for die-hard fans I can’t wait to listen the whole album!

Well, I think the song is very weak... I really don’t like it... I only heard 2 minutos of it but didn’t like it really. Sounds like a slower version of “Free As A Bird” from the Beatles.

It’s not catchy, not soooo pretty and kinda boring... Marie already did better than this.
I read some people complaining about the lyrics, well, of course the lyrics are too simple, but it seems to come from her heart and that’s important.

Anyway, it’s good to see her back, but Per still number one for me in swedish and in english !! :)
All the best

It brings back the now traditional Beatles-influece in Marie’s music as she has shown in a few of her previoous tracks like “Tro” (though this one is a major major music master piece) or “Beautiful Things” (a gem or a pearl in HAND) ... very emotional sincere simple really from the heart that is how i describe this new single ... as i listened to it i kind imagined what Marie was feeling at the time and the way her voice sounds like in this moment shows all that ... she really felt it so deeply....

As i said before “the singer, the voice and the soul are back in a wonderful shape and way...” for the 2nd time ....:)

Well, to be sincerely I miss her loud voice like on “Het Vind” or “Den Sjunde Vågen” albums. But she’s still on the way!!! I really like the song and I think the string arrengement is awesome!!! It make me flow to Heaven!!!! I think the new Marie’s album will have the same style as Frida’s (ex-ABBA) “Djupa Andetag” album. “2nd Chance” sounds as “Sista valsen med dig”. And the current Frida’s new song, “The Sun Will Shine Again” fits perfectly with “2nd Chance” lyrics. What a coincidence!!!

Out of topic: Marie duets with Frida on that album: “Alla mina bästa år”. If you can, get that album, is simply wonderful.

Em... how do you listen to it on the first page? I click on the links and it has ’lyrics’, ’pictures’ and the same article that’s on the first page.

Just click on the option that says “Marie Fredriksson - 2nd Chance (mirror)”. The song will start, you don’t need to do anything...

please don’t start discussions about the same that’s being discussed in the front page ;) THERE we are also talking about how much we like the track :D

THanks!

@Fedzel ; You’re right it reminds a lot of sista valsen med dig.-.- anyway that Frida album its really great & with Marie’s voice even better

@ Judith.... are you getting the feeling no one is listening.... ;)

hm.. maybe I should shout louder = archive the thread ;)

well....For the first, it is great to hear her again! The voice is slightly different, but according to circumstances...great...BUT the song...I think, it isn´t chartbreaking hit...you, roxfans aren´t aren´t objective enough...This should be the best song from the album and in comparison with Finn 5 fel....weak....strange arragments, simple strings, Beatles copied...text is from her heart, but for someone, who doesn´t know about her illness it is really not interesting....it misses Per so much.....

@zlatyvoci: Don’t be disappointed - it can take years to understand Marie’s music ;-)

@Judith: Shout louder and archive it! *g*

this is exactly it, it aint Roxette. So if you listen to it thinking Roxette it sounds like a weak song that wouldnt make a Rox album. But her solos albums are like this, so on a Marie level its ok.

i am looking forward to the album ...

btw: why is this song called “2:nd change” and not “i’m alive” ...

am i the only one who is wondering?

Actually I am wondering why the song is called “2:nd chance” and not “2nd chance” .. :-)

good point ;)

DON’T archive this! The news will be down from the frontpage soon, but this thread could stay on top for a while! I couldn’t listen to the song yet - while at work. Wonder why it isn’t called 2nd TIME... ;-)

I like it :)

I was expecting something else, but I like it.

The correct way of spelling it is “1:st, 2:nd, etc..”

That’s the Swedish way of writing that (for Swedish numbers, that is), not the English! And the title is in English, isn’t it? So 2:nd is wrong, no matter what!

*edit* Well, I somehow forgot half of what I wanted to write *blushes*

Call it artistic freedom! She could have written it “sack/and/change” instead. ;-)

well, actually, I´m not dissapointed from Marie´s voice, ít´s more about bad producer´s job of Micke...Her music is more about feelings and melody, than about text, that´s the difference between M and P, Per´s texts are sometimes really briliant...poetic, dramatic, poems...nothing from this is happening here...I like Marie´s music, the general thought is great, but the performance and production leaks....

i like it. but yeah, its true. the production kinda sux, its really weak. but then, I really doubt Marie could have finished the album without her husbands help. we still have to listen to the full album to judge mikaels production. but in the meantime, just enjoy.

*edit to add: i dont think pers lyrics are great. “it feels like being hit by a truck”, “i feed the ducks with a bun” and “hidden in a jar, o what a jar” are some clear examples that his lyrics can suck like a porn star. marie, on the other hand, can be very deep when she writes in swedish*

The more I listen the more I like, I like the lyrics and the music.... it’s a good song!

and being English, I’ll refer to it as 2nd Chance...

I agree with expressen- the song grows every time I listen to it. But I dont really like the way its produced. Ive never been a fan of the Micke B. -sound. Same thing with “I En Tid Som Vår”. “Den Ständiga Resan” is much better produced. But I really like the lyrics; its simple and easy to understand. Thats not a bad thing. A lot of artists has so “deep” and “artistic” lyrics that you dont understand what the hell they are singing about ( REM, Eva Dahlgren etc etc)

In my opinion is a very good song, I like it more and more cos it sounds very Marie and I like her style even if it’s so different from Rox style. For this reason some people may don’t appreciate it so much, but I think there is another reason: arrangement by Micke! I don’t like Micke’s music and so his arrangement, it could be better if was Per or Christoffer or Clarence to do it. Don’t you think?
Anyway I don’t think Tro is Marie’s biggest masterpiece, I think it’s absolutely Waiting for the rain! And if I have to choose from her swedish songs then I think I en tid som var is better than Tro. Still love Tro cos it’s one of my fave!

After all... Thanks Marie for your great work!!! I love you! =)))

I like the lyrics and the music, though I think that the production is weak. It’s clearly a Micke B production. He uses the same instruments (organ, strings, sound of guitars etc) all the time. That’s a pity because it makes the songs sound the same and eventually that makes the production boring and the songs are kind of ’look alikes’.

The best thing is that Marie’s back and that she has had the selfconfidence to write in English! :-)

Well the song is all you people say, the good, the bad, but two things for sure: Great lyrics really personal and the chorus has the Marie strength most of us missed. A definitive big grower on me.

Marie shows that pop music is very much alive and a song with meaning is possible, even in english.
