Plane Phobia

I prefer to sleep with thousand snakes than ride a plane. Damn, I wish I wasn’t THIS scared.
just wondering if any of you had this “phobia” too? I was hoping that any of u can give me advice how to DEAL with this, because sooner I will take many planes, and VERY LLLOOOOONNGGG trip!
Well, I hope you won’t advice me to met Phsychiatrist :)

Majdy... don’t worry baby; I’ve got the very same phobia... and what makes it worse you can’t exactly ask the pilot to spot the plane because u feel uncomfortable... and then I’m not even allowed to smoke on the plane!!

i love flying, but sadly i’ve only been on a plane like 5 times, i think??

What exactly don’t you like about it??

Ah it’s cool! If you don’t like the view, pull the blind down! Just imagine you’re on a high speed train, and when it corners it tips slightly. :)
It’s cool... the take off and landing is a little noisy/bumpy, but it’s a few minutes. :) Once you’re in the air, it’s good!
Most people worry about it coming down I guess... but very unlikely you’ll know about it! ;)
I panic every single time I go on a motorway, in case I am involved in a crash... that scares me more than a plane coming down!

Don’t worry about it... I know it’s easier said than done, but flying is coolness!
Believe me, I am scared of my own shadow, but I have flown 4 times now, loved it. :)

OR: get stonking drunk, or take a sleeping pill. you won’t even know where you are!!!

seriuosly, I usually take a motion sickness pill, not the chemical stuff but with natural ingredients. Look for one, it should contain a healthy dose of ginger and camomile. good luck!!!!!!!!

You’ll be refused if drunk though. ;) It’s illegal to be drunk aboard a plane. But shove music on, read a book... do crosswords/puzzles... etcetc... I usually work out a trip by the amount of times I can listen to an album! Hehehe! I know if i’ve listened 4 times on a 5 hour trip, there isn’t long to go! ;) Hehe.

den: I know they won’t let you on, but I remeber one of our fellow passengers was so drunk he couldn’t stand up straight. and this was even BEFORE the flight :P

actually, sleeping pills are a good idea if u are really are that scared, there are really strong ones u can get, cant remember the name, but a friend who has a bad fear of flying uses them.
take one just before u board the plane and another when you get on and you will sleep like a baby. You just have to persuade the doctor to prescribe them....

Awesome idea Den, about listening to an album.....never tried that. I usually have trouble with ears popping and pressure building up in my head. ugh !
Flying can be really enjoyable...try not to worry!
You’ll be just fine !

somehow I think I’ve got to get over this phobia very quickly :DDD

I’d consult your doctor before you take any old sleeping pills though!

i used to love flying....... i cant even remember how many flights i’ve been on (its already 9 so far this year but many more before that lol) but recently i got really nervous on one flight. the best thing was to take a painkiller and just chill to music.

my aunt actually has a veeeeeery bad phobia, she gets medication from her doctor everytime she flies cos its that bad. maybe do that.

Yakes... me on a 9hour flight!! They’ll have to seriously drug me up to the point where I just sit in my seat drooling away...

it’s not a proper phobia as such, but I have an intense hate of clay. cannot stand to touch the fecking stuff. We were supposed to do a whole art topic using clay last year and I refused point blank to even be in the same room (people kept throwing it at me) lol

btw, soz I have never even seen a plane close up, let alone fly in one, so cannot help ya there :P

When I’ve had some sleep, I’ll post about the flight I just took

just do it. you will either arrive safely and then all that worry was for nothing..... or die in a flaming ball of horror and all that worry was still for nothing.
:p

Sweets: Oh, how nice :o)

right! I usually felt that I wasted my time by being worried, when the plane savely landed. But everytime I get into one, the “horror” begin. Couldn’t read, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t think positive :P
