Yup... couldn’t have worded it better myself... no, I really couldn’t. ;)

I could not have worded it better myself, well done! fantastic points and I agree with you 100%.....

I agree too. But I was astonished to find out that there are so many people who can so simply say godbye for ROXETTE.

look at it this way....
when did GT split up? well that’s how long we’ll have to wait for the first reunion tour.
always optimistic
but on an aside, if it is the end of Roxette is it the end of TDR as well?

You make some excellent points Little Spooky!!!
Absolutely, who can expect Marie and Per to keep going until they are 90? They have to quit sometime, and in the last few years they have been through a lot. Marie’s illness probably shocked the hell out of both of them and reminded them that family and health are more important than career.
I personally think it’s GREAT that Per is finally taking a break, for so many years he has been a workaholic and I bet Åsa and Gabriel have paid the price for that! And I really don’t think Roxette are completely finished yet anyway, but if they are then I support their decision!
LittleSpooky: You have cancer? Well I really hope that you will get better. Good luck to you.

even though we shouldn’t believe what a tabloid has written out of 2-3 sentences from Per... it is obvious we can’t expect them to go on forever... that would be living somewhere else but this world :)
One thing is for sure: they will always be in the music world, I surely can’t imagine Per or Marie stop doing music :)
So.. let’s just enjoy the old music we already have and the one to come - whenever it will come. Because it will. Someday :)

What surprises me the most, is there are so many fans out there that expect them to be bopping JOYRIDE out on stage when they are in the 60’s....
I think Per should take time out, enjoy life and relaxxxxxxxxxx

LittleSpooky –although i want to mark that GT is even bigger now than in 80-s i agree with what you said..
And i think that everybody is realistic enough and understand well all the facts..
But lets be more realistic–what will happend if they say===”it is the end of roxette”
What will be difference with the last 2 years??
There wasn’t Roxette tour!
Per is tired from his own tour and from Gt tour..
But what can make us think that after such a success he won’t continue at least with his solo work?
can you imagine him sitting on the sofa next 50 years?
The same about Marie if she get well soon..(you are always on our minds dear Marie!!)
I even think that saying “end of roxette” will increase a pressure for solo album..
Roxette is a NAME in the music world and even if they won’t make any new album ,keeping this name alive is worthy..
Saying that Roxette is over will be lets say 3 weeks hapinnes for yellow newspapers.. not saying it is hope for years for people who love them and can patiently wait..and who knows..
i’m writing it cos you all saw what happend last night and how many people are hit by this “news”
some of them are young and didn’ have the chance to see Roxette live that’s why they dream about Joyride tour Ally..but in real they are realists and even little things can make them ,me,you,Per and Marie happy..
but lets don’t forget that this is just a newspaper..

Clarification:
I don’t have cancer (at least, nothing that comes up on my yearly physical anyway). My apologies for any confusion.
However, my grandmother passed away from pancreatic cancer back in 1995, and I watched first hand, what this disease does to people. The fact that Marie is alive, well, kickin ass and takin names gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
PS - Boppin Joyride at 90? How ..... *huzzes and does a full body shiver*
AURYTE said on August 19, 2004 07:17:
Actaully in the music business there lots of older artits than ROXETTE. So I don’t understand why both PER & MARIE and some fans emphasizes age. For instance, my granfather, who is over 70, still works as 30 years ago.
LittleSpooky said on August 20, 2004 02:21:
Auryte: There’s a difference when you throw in travelling and what not. Does your grandfather travel across multiple time-zones? Does he perform in front of several THOUSAND people? If so, good on him.
I bring up age for one simple reason: It’s a given fact. Yes, there are artists older than them, but I bet they show more wear and tear on their bodies than Per and Marie do.
Everything I have said has been my opinion alone.
PS - I was one of those hopin they’d still continue for a little while longer. However, if they had decided not to, it wouldn’t have devistated me.

So we have 2 points of view:
Someone who is “thrilled” Roxette might be over.
And the rather LARGE group in the back, that’s still holding up the house, praying it’s not.
Since neither one was really appropriate for me to post in, I decided to aim for down the middle and shoot my own topic.
On one hand, yes, I’d be saddened at the end of Roxette. Their music has been a main-stay in my life for 15 years or so. Even though I’ve added other music into my collection as my interests in making music itself has grown, a large base of it is still Roxette.
But let’s step back for a moment and look at this realistically, shall we?
1. How old is Per? How old is Marie? Do you really expect them to put on the same caliber of concerts they have as Roxette / solo / GT when they’re in their 80s? Not gonna happen.
2. Families. Remember them? Ever stop to think that maybe the kids think it’s great that mom or dad is HOME for a while? I don’t know about either of them, but if I ever have kids, I don’t want them to be a bus driver. It’s shit work, ladies and gentlemen. Decent pay... but at times, you lose a lot more than you gain.
3. Health. How many of us here can say that we’ve had cancer and beat it? Marie Fredriksson can. *I* can’t. But I can tell you that I’ve been sick enough that all I can do at times is roll over in bed so I don’t get sores on my back.
Hang up the hat?
Their choice. Accept it for what it is and be THRILLED to have been included in their lives... in their world for whatever length of time you’ve been listening to their music.
